OldHippie says "Comes FREE with AT&T Yahoo" about Symantec Norton AntiVirus

Note added to top: AT&T Yahoo now uses McAfee as their free anti-virus program.

My first Gateway P/C back in 2002 (I think) came with a 90 subscription to Norton AntiVirus. After that, I had to either buy it on my own or find another company. After browsing their web site (Symantec), I decided not only to renew the 90 day subscription, but upgrade to Norton SystemWorks. (See separate review under Symantec SystemWorks)

In all the years of using Symantec products, I've never had a virus, or worm get through. It's blocked them all. But...be sure to have automatic updates turned on, and run it manually from time to time - just to make sure.

Once and only once did I try another product. It was when I first switched to AT&T Yahoo and their free anti-virus program was through Computer Associates. Terrible. I went back to Norton AntiVirus. Since then, AT&T Yahoo has even made the switch.

Nothing beats FREE! AT&T Yahoo now offers a free Norton Protection Center which comes...
...

jasyjen says "I feel safer online with Norton AntiVirus" about Symantec Norton AntiVirus

When I first got my computer, I downloaded a FREE AntiVirus program from Road Runner. I think it was McAffee. Well, I contracted a virus within the first month and had to have my entire computer emptied out and "disinfected".

Afterwards, I spent the money for Norton, and haven't had any trouble since. When I'm using Norton, I know it's watching out for me. It lets me know when there's been a threat to my computer, or when I'm about to go on a site that isn't safe. I get updates automatically, and notices when my service is about to expire. That way, I'm never without protection.

Yes, definately spend a little money for a good anti-virus software. You'll be glad you did. The Norton edition I just download, the newest one, actually had a little extra to it. I paid about $ 70.00 extra to have Norton clean out my computer & get rid of whatever was slowing it down. They come on periodically & check everything out and make sure my computer runs at it's best.
...

I just finished using Symantec's instant online chat tech support. Sunil was able to answer all my questions about what to do in the event of a computer crash and loss of the Norton AntiVirus software I had downloaded.

-Re-install Windows XP.

-Go to Symantec for "Trailware." (It took me awhile to understand that the word was Trialware.)

-Download Trialware.

-Enter my product key and recover my subscription.

I can do that. Nifty.
...
