Swingtown was a great show. I know many people thought that the plot was something that should be shown, but I thought that it was great. It didn't get vulgur, but still showed another side to the life and times of the 70's. Both the cast and the plot were amazing. This show really kept me interested. I think that Showtime or HBO should really think about bringing this show back and putting it on their station. HBO does have Big Love and Showtime has Weeds, why not have Swingtown. It would be a great addition.
...

jank1708 says "horrible show" about Swingtown

Swing Town is one of the worst shows that I have ever watched on tv. It is absolutely ridiculous to move to a town where everybody swings. These people were totally against the idea of swapping partners and by the end of the show, they all were doing it with each other and it didn"t really bother any of them. I thought this was a really stupid idea for a show. There Are people who have this sort of life style, but to make people who were against this all eventually think it was ok, was just a ridiculous type of show. Glad it is no longer on tv.
...

So...CBS finally airs an amazing show with a splendid storyline and intriguing characters. It's a 70's based show that portrays the real life drama that was erupting in 1976. The relationships, forming and breaking, keep me glued to the tv!...

dhaynes says "I love the 70"s" about Swingtown

I am getting more and more intrigued with this life that people have " swingers". I actually wouldn't participate it that myself. But, I think the struggles that these couples have on the show are so typical. Not to far off from the way it is today....

moms2cents says "A Nighttime Soap - refreshing break from reruns and reality tv" about Swingtown

CBS released a new night time soap (was on Thursdays and has changed to Fridays).

The commercials would lead you to believe the show is all about sex. It's about relationships, with quite a bit of sex mixed in. It's for mature audiences.

Setting: The show takes place on the outskirts of Chicago in the 1970's.

Premise: Susan and Tom have moved up to a more affluent neighborhood. They meet the neighbors who introduce them to the swinging lifestyle. Susan leaves behind her bestfriend, Janet and her husband. Janet is a bit of a prude and is very jealous of Susan's new life.

I'm sure many would argue about how well the show represents the 1970's, although from what I can remember (a was a young teen), many things seem accurate. Although, I don't think for one second that everyone was having orgies and swinging.

This show is not going to win any emmys, but I think it's worth checking out if you enjoy soap opera type shows.

...

carriefink says "a new and intresting show" about Swingtown

here its 9pm on a thursday night, with nothing to watch, then ABC comes up with a new show called Swingtown. it takes place back in the 70's and for those of us who were either to little or not around to remember much, we never saw this or even knew about what our parents yet alone what our neighbors did. but watching it now on TV, I'd say its an excellent show, with an excellent cast. the show leaves you wanting more....

RudiXeno says "Swingtown: HBO passed on this series. You should too!" about Swingtown

After being away from home for four weeks, I arrived home just in time to kiss my daughter and put her on the plane for Summer Camp in the Georgia Mountains. Two days later I kissed my wife and put her on an El Al Flight to Israel so she could participate in a teachers' tour of the Holy Land.

So here I am at home, banging against walls. What to do?

Well Tivo of course. Catch up on a little television. So a couple of evenings ago I clicked "Now Playing" and saw Tivo had recorded the first three episodes of Swingtown, a CBS summer series.

But First

It occurs to me that many of the members on this site weren't adults during the 1970's and may actually believe that this show represents the period accurately. If it does, I must have been mentally MIA because I was there.

The Setting and Premise

The show takes place in the mid-1970's in a wealthy Chicago suburb. No, I didn't live in Chicago. I lived in Fairfield County, a very wealthy suburb in lower southwest Connecticut.

To believe...
...
