This movie had catchy tunes but I found the ending cut short and some of the gore to be shocking. Obviously hes a barber who cuts peoples throats but they showed the blood alot and it was a bit too much. Lots of good actors/actresses in this. I was just surprised how much gore they showed and they didn't really have to it has a pretty freaky storyline even so. The coloring used for the movie was cool and I liked how "dark" the plot was....

When I first saw this film (Sweeney Todd) in theatres I was ecstatic. I absolutely loved it, and wanted to watch it again right after it ended. Even if you're not all that into musicals, i'm sure you'd still enjoy it. There's a great cast, great director, great scenery/set, great acting. Everything about it was fantastic. I even purchased it on dvd the day it was released, and I still love it.

Great movie. I've never seen the stage vs, so i'm probably slightly biased. I don't really know what to say about it, but I really enjoyed it. The cinematix i thought were pretty cool, and for those who say it isn't funny, it's just a different type of humor that maybe you just don't understand......

For as long as I can remember, Steph Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" has been my favorite musical. It is a work of genius. Tim Burton, and cast and crew, did a phenomenal job of turning Sondheim's masterpiece into a great movie. I loved it. I would recommend it to everyone.

I was really surprised how much I loved this movie. Sweeney Todd is a classic play, but I didn't really know the story until seeing this movie. I was delighted that it starred Johnny Depp, who was perfect for the main role. Sweeney Todd is the story of a barber who was wrongly accused by a jealous judge in the prime of his life. He was torn away from his lovely wife just so the judge could have her. Years later the barber, now known as Sweeney Todd returned to enact his revenge. I love not only the story because it is gory, but also because it is a musical. The film and song blend together perfectly. I loved the added element of murder as the story gets darker throughout. As the barber returns, he rents a room about Mrs. Lovett's pie shop and later the barbers killings turn into madness as his victims become the newest ingredient to Mrs. Lovett's pies. The story is intriguing and the songs are perfect for setting the mood. Johnny Depp is great as Sweeney Todd....

Well, first of all, the company that runs our local movie-plex wouldn't run Sweeney Todd, because they said they couldn't make enough money (who knows...). Then, a couple of months later, they ran it. I waited for the DVD. I was a little angry because I really, really wanted to see this film. I love Broadway musicals; I really like Tim Burton; I really like Johnny Depp!! I have another tie to the original movie, as well. Based on the old, old movie: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street... my Mom went to see it when she was a kid and got into lots of trouble from my Grampa (too much information).

Anyway, I popped the DVD into my player, as my wife exited to the upstairs stating she had no desire to see this movie. I settled back , the movie began and I was enthralled. It was dark and moody and mysterious and quirky. This was just prior to the first throat cutting scene. Okay, I got through that, imagining how they did this on Broadway. Then there was the next and the next and the next, ad nauseum....

For those that say there is 'too much singing' in this movie, they really should get educated. The original stage play WAS a musical, meaning not much dialogue. This movie was different, in a way, from the musical. Tim Burton took out the humor that was a part of Mrs. Lovett's character. Also, strangely, the blood bothered me. Not the amount. That was perfect.lol It was, of all things, the COLOR of the blood. Looked as though they added white to red thin paint. If the color started out that way, then got redder as the movie went on would have been a better idea. It would have made a MAJOR impact at the end. Highly recommend it anyway. Support the plays/musicals, too....

I did not enjoy this movie. My husband and I turned it off. I couldn't understand the words of the songs. the plot seemed like it would be great. find his daughter revenge losing his wife, the singing stopped me from enjoying this possible dark movie....

I had seen Sweeney Todd on the stage several years ago. I found it true to the form. It felt as though I was watching it on stage once again. The blood is over dramtized which lessens the shock factor for me. It is done in the same fake way as if it was done on stage. I loved the show the first time I saw it on stage and loved just as much seeing it on DVD.

Johnny Depps talents shone in this movie....

I particularly enjoyed how the singing was done--a very natural style of singing, fit very well into the rest of the action. A very dark portrayal but extremely well done....

I really do think this was a very different movie then most thought it would be. Johnny Depp blew me away with not only his acting (as always) but his singing (he did come to L.A. to start a band and ended up ... well you see). I've heard people say its sad and morbid and sick and such but if you were to look at the over all picture what better way to end it???? Could they have gotten back what they had? Could they turn back time and fix all the wrongs? Could they have become the people they were? I think not. If you take this movie for what its worth you'll see the true story and not just gore. True we all love a happy ending but thats not real all the time. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp always make a great team and always will its like this unspeakable bond. Well, enough said either you like or dislike this movie. I've found that there is no gray area about it....

I wanted to like this movie but it was pretty dreadful. Johnny Depp's voice is horrible but I expected that. What I did not expect was all the ridiculous violence. I don't need to see all that throat slashing and blood spewing, I have an imagination. Then seeing Helena burn to death in the furnace was a bit over the top too. I know they did do those treatments in the broadway show. Tim Burton movies generally suck but I was willing to give it a chance and hope for the best. Bad choice....

I loved the movie. I thought the black and white added to the sadness and revenge and provided an awesome background to the blood-letting. It is a super love story with a twist. Johnny played a perfect man done wrong. Helen was awesome as a woman keeping a secret that could have changed the whole outcome of the movie. I about cried when he almost killed his daughter and I did cry when he realized he killed his wife. It is exactly what I expected from the creative mind of Tim Burton....

This film was very good...but there was a lot of singing, especially from Johnny Depp. He's still a great actor. The film was excellently cast, and although it is a little gory for some, overall its a great film....
