I have used the dough cycle and put in loaf pans to bake, its comes out after baked, with a hole of doughy in the middle of loaf. I have made with with other machines and never had this happen, whats wrong, is it the machine not mixing all the way? The outside of loaf looks perfectly brown and done but still has this awful middle hole, can you help?
...

I've had my Sunbeam 5891 bread machine for a whopping 3 weeks now but am having loads of fun trying all kinds of recipes (you can find tons at allrecipes.com). This is my first time using a bread machine and I find it to be really easy to use and, so far, pretty much foolproof if you follow the recipe exactly. I don't especially like the shape of the bread pan so have used the dough cycle more than anything and then shape as desired. Overall, I'd say this is a good model if you're just starting out. Another plus was it's low cost at Walmart....

Bread Machine Sunbeam 5891. I make bread twice a week. I only use the machine to mix the dough, after which I remove the dough from the machine. In my opinion the machine is underpowered. Also, it seems to have plastic or nylon gears and they cause quite a lot of noise when they seem to 'slip.' But my biggest aggravation is that a black gunk forms under the paddle and I get black spots and streaks in the dough. This black gunk seems to be coming from the paddle shaft and shaft bushing. It has become quite loose in the housing and apparently allows some liquid and dough to get into the housing. The mixing must cause this slurry to get hot and mix with particles wearing off in the bushing. It's just my guess. Sunbeam gave me the name of a local small appliance shop to contact, but they just told me that this machine isn't built to be repaired and a new pan would cost $29.00. In my opinion this machine is okay for occassional usage, but not for the kind of use I give...
...

jsbaker4404 says "Sunbeam Bread Machine was disappointing." about Sunbeam Bread Machine 5891

I do not recommend this Sunbeam Bread Machine. It is very cheaply made and not durable at all. The lid is extrememly flimsy.

It does not always bake the bread properly. I tried baking several different loaves in mine and none of them came out right. Every single loaf deflated. I followed the recipes exactly the way they were in the cookbook that came with the bread machine. I also tried other recipes I found online. None of the loaves came out. They did not completely cook in the middle either.

This bread machine is cheaper than other models, but it also isn't a high quality. You really get what you pay for. I thought perhaps I had a "dud" bread maker so I exchanged it. The new machine (same model) still did not work. I was very disappointed.

However, this bread machine is easy to use. It does the basic bread making. You can choose different size loaves and use it to mix dough. I still would not recommend this model to anyone.
...

This Sunbeam bread machine sees use every other day in this house. Rye bread, Sweet bread, you name it this machine has made it. We can turn it on, take a nap as we are early risers, and it is quiet enough we do not hear it. Great breads!! We had an older Sunbeam model which finally 'gave up the ghost', and replaced it with model 5891. This was a good move on the household. Now all we have to do is find more varieties of flour as my step dad comes over and loves to experiment with different flavorings....

Sunbeam Bread Machine 5891 makes good homestyle white bread and really good sandwich bread. The biggest problem with it is the awkward size of the loaf of bread. It makes a square loaf of bread with the slices about 6": by 6". I have heard that some people let the machine do the mixing, kneading, and rising or the dough, then you can take out the dough and put it into a regular sized loaf pan.

I would recommend white homestyle basic or sandwich of all the selections that the breadmaker has available.

The wheat bread comes out pretty tough, mostly because the crust is really tough even if you order a light crust (it has an adjustment that you can order light, medium, or dark crust). The French bread has a tough crust too, but if you don't mind throwing away all the tough crusts, the inside tastes good.

I mostly stay with the Basic and the Sandwich versions, although there are 11 selections in all. I haven't tried the cake making selection or the jams yet. I am very happy with...
...

I had a Sunbeam breadmaker which works perfect for 5 years and started to step in its nursing room then I bought a new Sunbeam breadmaker 5891. This new one started to make grinding screaming unpleasant noise when I make doughs since the second month. I could not return it to Wal-Mart because I threw away the box.

So I finally called 800-528-7713, the customer service line. After checking the A183 number from the plug, the lady happily announced promised to send me a new Oyster breadmaker. So I am waiting...
...

I have used the Sunbeam 5891 several times and am somewhat satisfied with it. It's kinda noisy and vibrates much more than I like, but the bread comes out well. The crust is a little crispy at first, even on the light setting, but softens over a little time (usually the next day) which is how I like my crust.
Not my first choice in a bread machine, but for the price, I consider it a fair bargain....

I have had other breadmakers and I never had one that made such awful noise! It sounded like a loud, grinding, mechanical distress call. I could hear it all over the house. The instruction booklet said it might make a "knocking" noise if the dough ball was too dry. When I added water, the noise went away until the water mixed in and then the noise started again. I had to keep adding water to get it to shut up. I'm guessing the motor needs to be stronger. I tried three recipes--one of my tried and true recipes, a dough recipe, and one of their recipes. All were noisy. I don't consider it a convenience to have to constantly add water. The three recipes I made came out well and the controls were fairly easy to use, but I couldn't stand the noise, so I took it back to the store for a refund. Perhaps mine was a dud, because other people have given it good reviews. ...

This machine makes the best darn bread! I love smelling it when its baking and the taste of all the different breads is soooo good. I have been making bread for about 5 years now and will never go buy a loaf from the store or bakery again. This is my 3rd machine and I will buy and buy again when they go out. I make about a loaf every other day, but I also make it for friends, teachers, church, you name it, you will always have a back up gift if needed....
