tcridge says "Died within a year. Warranty only lasted a year." about Summer Infant Secure Sounds Digital Monitor

At first this monitor was great. It caught the noise perfectly. we could hear everything. we never had any problems at all. Then out of the blue things went down hill. THe monitor doesn't connect to the base and you have to slam it down in order to get it to connect. Whn you try to turn it up it doens;t turn up. It stays at the same level. It is not a good monitor. Battery didn't last long when not charged. It would die within 45 minutes. You couldn't do the dishes and carry aroudn the monitor when vacumming. It'd have to stay on the base. It ended up dying at 14 months but warranty only last 12 months. I tried to call the company but they wanted to do with it helping us. they wanted us to mail the monitor to them and pay for the shipping and then pay for them to look at it. i was highly diasappoitnted. We paid a good amount for the monitor too. I would suggest purchasing something else worth a little more.
...

cutiehoop says "Not thrilled- not worth the money!" about Summer Infant Secure Sounds Digital Monitor

I purchased the Secure Sleep Video Monitor solely for the fact that it has a temperature readout. Even though there were no reviews on this product, I previously had a Summer video monitor so I figured this one would be the same quality. Here's the problems I had with it:

1- I have found the temperature readout to be unreliable. For example, I have my thermostat set at 74 degrees. The monitor says the room is 78 degrees and another thermometer in the room says that it is 74.6 degrees. I can see there being some difference in the readout but 4 degrees is quite high. So I can't depend on the temperature displayed on the monitor because I know it is saying it is much hotter than it really is. The whole reason why I purchased this particular monitor was because of the temperature readout feature. I worry about SIDS and one risk factor is the temperature of the baby's room being too warm. I cannot rely on the Summer monitor temperature display. I think that the heat from the camera unit makes...
...

dakotaducklp says "Stylish yet effective monitor" about Summer Infant Secure Sounds Digital Monitor

I was presently surprised how wonderful the Summer Infant secure sounds monitor was. It is very durable and eye pleasing with the different colors that the Summer infant secure sounds monitor comes in. I was also surprised that when I put my baby in the crib to sleep I could not only go anywhere in the house, but also go outside to my garden and still her him breathing! One of the best perks about the monitor is that it is an energy star product! With everything going green this is just another way to help out mother earth and still have the quality and most important the confidence that my little one was still sound asleep and doing OK. The down side is that it comes with just one receiver. Also it was hard to take off the battery cover as the screw holes were very small. That is really the only bad things about it. I was very pleased that there was no static or interference. It was just a really great monitor.
...

FuzzyBuckyy says "Summer Infant Digital Monitor picks is the best." about Summer Infant Secure Sounds Digital Monitor

The Summer Infant Digital Monitor is the best. The camera can be positioned anywhere, and you can mount it on the wall as well. The monitor is in color, and it also has the night vision. The night vision is in black and white. I love it because you can see the baby in a dark room. You can see if her eyes are open, and how much she is moving around. It is a clear picture excet when you zoom in, but even when you zoom you can still see the baby and what is going on.There is also a button on top you can press to turn off the video, if you would just like to listen. That is helpful at night because the monitor is pretty bright. I keep the sound on and video off until I hear her. Then I wil turn on the video to see if I need to go into her room or if she is just going back to sleep. The volume is great. It's adjustable in case you are a heavier sleeper or a lighter one. And you can also pan the room on the monitor. There is a little toggle knob in the monitor. I like that because sometimes...
...

This item has a lot of white noise. It also has a lot of feedback from my daughter's cd player when it is on.

I have a two story house with a basement and it works anywhere in the house as other monitors don't seem to do such a good job. It seems to do the job for the money.
...

Coldburn2004 says "Does the job, but not so well!" about Summer Infant Secure Sounds Digital Monitor

My wife and I purchased this monitor due in part to a recommendation from a sales associate. We were told it was, in their opinion of course, superior to many other makes and models and given the price, we were sold on it.

Several months went by and when our son turned six weeks old and started to sleep in his own room, we were finally able to use the baby monitor. To our dismay, it was a bit noisy with an overbearing and constant white noise, even at the lowest volume possible. You may as well leave a TV or radio on an empty station and enjoy the static. When my wife and I watch TV or a movie in the evening after our little man has gone to bed, we have to bury the monitor under a throw pillow or cushion!

On the plus side, it's a very compact and somewhat stylish device that will blend in like a cordless phone, unlike so many multi-colored, toy looking monitors. The pickup end in the nursery is nicely concealed behind his books and works without interference. Another good feature is that...
...
