I've had this monitor with both children, my son who is now two and my youngest who is now four months. It shows what the baby is doing giving you peace of mind. You can hear the child with any movement or cries. It doesn't pick up breathing too well but I don't keep the monitor too close since I'm afraid the baby could get ahold of the cord. Although, I can see the baby's chest up and down movement showing breathing. It's best to see what's going on in the crib if the monitor is mounted against the wall. In the day time it shows up in color, at night it's in black and white. I would recommend this product, it's much better than just hearing the baby. We used it when we tried doing cry it out with our son at nine months to make sure he was ok. Then later when he turned one and a half we could catch him climbing out of his crib. Monitor can either stay on so you can look over to view or you can turn it off to where you just hear sound. I love this product.
...

We did not purchase this until our child was about 10 months old and don't know what my wife and I did without it. We used to have to try and sneak into her room to check on her to find her awake and then she would start crying. Now we always know if she is awake or not. Our baby moves around a lot and we can constantly see what she is doing. It is easy to use and have had no problems with it. The picture is clear, day or night. The sound is very good. We leave it at our bedside at night charged, and have never had a problem with that. Her Grandpa watches her and he is 60 plus years old and can see her. It keeps me calm having it next to me when she is playing or sleeping. It can also ease one's mind by knowing that their child is not trying to climb out of the crib or the bed, as you can watch it continuously. We will use it when she transitions to a bed, so even until she is 3 years old!
...

I purchased the Summer Color Video Monitor. This is my third child and it has been seven years since I had my last child, so needless to say, I have gone through many monitors. This one ofcourse being the most expensive monitor I have ever purchased. It was an attractive feature because it has the video monitor so I could actually see my baby which gives me comfort (and I didn't have to get out of bed a thousand times a night to check on the baby). It worked good for about a nine months and progressively started getting worse. It was great while it worked but I would expect to get more use out of a monitor. Today it is awful, lots of static all the time whether it is plugged in or working on battery, and when I do use it on battery it only lasts twenty minutes, if I'm lucky! That to me is definately not worth the money I payed for it, which was $170.00. I probably should have done more research on video monitors before I made this purchase, which is why I decided to write...
...

I purchased the Summer Infant Handheld Color Video Monitor when my son started climbing out of his crib. I had been hesitant to purchase a video monitor before this because the are so pricey and often get mixed reviews. I went with this one based on the advice of a cousin who has owned it for 2 years. I love being able to see what my boys are doing in their room without getting up. The picture is quite clear although it takes some getting used to if you have never seen you kids with night vision before. I love that the parent end can be plugged in on my nightstand or travel aroung the house with me. I also like that you don't have to keep the viewing screen turned on all the time. I have noticed that the unit can get quite warm to the touch if you leave the screen on for hours at a time but I see no reason to leave it on while you are sleeping. When I want to check on my kids, I turn the screen on and then turn it right off.

The only issue that I have with the monitor is...
...

I bought this about 20 months ago, and from the time I got it there was on/off static. Which is REALLY annoying when you're trying to sleep. I got to the point where I would turn it off at night. Then I noticed the unit getting abnormally hot. I woke up one morning to find it melted, and still sucking power from the wall. I called Summer and was told it was my fault. (Not the case.) They said they would send me a refurbished unit for $70. Fine. 11 days later the replacement arrived - and it was packaged poorly. It was visably used (scratches all over it), and this one didn't work either (just white fuzz on the screen and constant static). When I called Summer, they were insincere in their efforts to correct the problem. Honestly, that's what upsets me the most - treating the consumer like a burden. They said I would have to return this broken unit, and when they received it (i.e. another 11 days), they would send me another one. Which means it'll probably take them up...
...

The Summer Infant Handheld Color Video Monitor is very nice to use. I've had it for almost 3 years now and use it for my second child. Some children get excited when they see you coming in, but you can view them on the monitor in order to make sure they are okay, or if their crys are ones of falling asleep. The only downfall is that the battery is going dead and is picking up more static. I tried to find a replacement battery and haven't found one yet. The stand also doesn't work all that well anymore. But, for the 3 years I have used it, it really has lived up to all the things I hoped it would....

We purchased this Summer Day/Night video monitor to use in our home when the grandchildren were visiting since most bedrooms were on the second floor. It is fantastic and saves many trips up and down the stairs. Everyone rests easier being able to see if the child is actually awake or just making noise in their sleep. I think the children actually sleep longer because we are not constantly opening the door to see if they are awake. Interference is minimal and much less of a problem on this little monitor than it is on the commerical monitor that my husband uses to monitor his business. I like many others rarely have a color picture but the clarity of the picture is great. The night time pictures are better than what I can see when I enter the room (Old eyes take to long to adjust). I just wish that I would have had the availability of a product like this with my own children. Now, I am deciding which model to give my daughter to use in her home to monitor my newest grandchild that is......

The Summer Infant Hand-held Video Monitor with 2.5" screen has been the BEST investment! I am absolutely addicted! I didn't have this with my first child, but decided to treat myself with the second. I am so glad I did. It is wonderful to be able to check on your baby without having to run up the stairs every time, especially when you're busy chasing a two year old. The image is great - screen size is big enough. We do get some interference from our phone and wireless internet, but it's not a big problem. We actually got a second camera for our 2 year old's room. You can set one camera to channel A and one to channel B. Then you can switch between the two channels on the monitor to keep track of 2 kiddos. Note: you can NOT see both rooms at the same time -- you have to flip between them. If you plug the monitor in, you can leave the video on. When it's in battery mode, the video part turns off after a few minutes, but that's good because it takes a lot of battery......

We bought this monitor when our child transitioned to a bed from a crib. We used a Graco digital monitor for the first 2 years and that worked fine with the occasional beeping due to interference. We have a wireless internet system and a 6.0 DECT cordless phone. We also had a 2.4 Ghz analog cordless phone. Right away we set up the Summer Infant video monitor in the room along with old Graco digital monitor. We had a lot of static and interference. We still experienced static and interference when we moved the Graco monitor out of the room. We planned to use the Summer Infant video monitor in the older child's room and the old Graco digital monitor in the new baby's room so we wanted to test them together. It was worst around the 2.4 Ghz phone so we got rid of the phone immediately. The static and interference went on for a week. We then replaced the Graco digital monitor with an older monitor (2 years), Safety First 49 MHz technology, 400 ft range monitor. We had this at grandparents house.......

As first time parents, my husband and I were a little nervous about how we'd adjust to having our baby girl sleep in her own room. When she outgrew her bassinet at only six weeks, we decided to go out and buy a video monitor to ease our minds in the night (so we wouldn't have to get up to check on her). It was a little expensive, but oh-so-worth-it! I love so much about this monitor: It has a great quality screen and you can even see your baby if her room is completely dark. We love that it is video but still totally portable (I can prop it up on AC power or clip it to me with battery power) and sometimes refer to it as the "baby in a box" because we feel safe even in the furthest rooms of the house. So if you're a nervous new parent, this is a great buy for you!...

Not bad, still not sure if the color part works, haven't seen it project in color yet. The battery could stay charged longer too. The camera is ok, I like other camera styles better, for example I had the sight and sound monitor and liked that camera better, but the monitor broke so.... now we have this one. I like that if the battery is charged that you can carry the monitor around and can see the baby where ever you are in the house....
