I love this monitor. the viewing screen is the perfect size to carry around without being bulky. the night vision works great, it is really impressive! My son is two years old and I still use it for naps and night-time sleep. I like that I can "see" him without having to creep into his room several time a night. I plan on using this in the playroom in a few months, so that I can keep an eye on him without interruption his play.
...

Mommyof2Boyz says "Good Audio, OK Video, Poor Craftsmanship." about Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor 1.8" Screen

After much research and debate, we finally chose the Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor with 1.8" Screen because of the following features: color monitor with "night vision" capability; on/off button that allowed us to turn off the video screen and sound, but still have LED lights to alert us; and the ability to add a second camera (2-channel system). While using this equipment, we were satisfied with the additional features such as a rechargable battery, belt clip and kickstand, which let me move the monitor around the house as needed.

Overall, we found the sound quality to be good. The microphone was sensitive enough that we could hear our son's every breath. However, we had some occasional interuptions from static, which we determined were interference with our 900 mHz telephone system. Moving the receiver around usually helped this issue, at least for a while.

The daytime video quality was not as "crystal clear" as we anticipated from earlier...
...

I have the summer day and night video monitor. It seemed pricy at first but it is well worth it to be able to see my baby while she is sleeping, and see what she is doing. The camera was very easy to install. I love how the video monitor is handheld. It is portable and you can carry it around the house with you wherever you are so that you can always see your baby. There is night vision on it too so you can see your baby very well at night. The screen is very clear and very easy to see. It also has good sound and not much static electricity. The only problem that I have had is that when another baby near us is on the monitor too, it sometimes shows that other baby, and can get a ittle fuzzy. But not bad at all. The sound is so much better than the other monitors that I have tried before. I have one for both of my daughters and I'm so glad that I invested the money into these. They are amazing. It is a great product and I haven't had any problems with it!
...

It makes nap-time and bedtime so much easier because i can see my little one on the screen and know that he is safe and sound, and I don't have to keep getting up in the night to check on him.

The Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor is one item I always recommend to a parent-to-be and one I wouldn't have wanted to go without those first few months with a new baby. The monitor is easily portable, with a decent range so you don't feel like you're tethered to the camera. The picture is fairly clear, with an impressive night vision so you can see your child both day and night. It's perfect for checking in on your newborn, and also quite useful for checking in on a naughty toddler who won't stay in his bed! The charge lasts quite a while so you don't need to worry about losing battery quickly.

The camera can be positioned easily to either perch on the side of a bassinet, or be mounted on a wall looking down into a crib or bed. The power cord is a decent length, so you can keep the cord out of baby's reach so they don't pull the camera down onto their head.

The camera and monitor are easily portable to bring on vacations, to grandparents, or to switch between...
...

At first we didn't think we needed a baby manotor so we didn't get one. After all, the baby was sleeping in his bassinet in our room right next to our bed for the first 5 months. When we decided to transition him into his nursery, it became obvious that we would need a moniot. We did some reserach on line, looked at the Baby Bargains book, went to Babies R US and I spoke to some mom knews I knew. with that info we went back to Babies R Us and told them the 3 monitors we were considering. The associate suggested the Summer Infant Handheld - as did 99 percent of my mommy friends on my parenting board. It looked easy to use, I loved the handheld received, the camera turns in so many directions so we went with it. The best investmenet we made! very easy set up, the reception is amazing, it picks up every single little sound that the baby makes down to the noise that the sheets make when the baby moves poitions. What I really liked was how clear the image was. It was absolutly...
...

We purchased the Summer Infant Day and Night Handheld color video monitor because we thought it would be nice to be able to actually see the baby. We live in a two story townhouse and decided that if the baby was going to be upstairs napping it would be a big hassle to have to run up and down every time we wanted to peek in on her. This seemed like the best solution for our family! So far it's been great. I really like how you can place the camera anywhere. It's really small and compact and can pretty much be set anywhere. We move it around all the time. The monitor itself is a good size. The picture screen isn't huge, but its big enough to see the baby and check in. It also comes with a hook up for your TV. We haven't used it yet, but if you wanted a large picture you could keep it on the TV to watch. It picks up sound fantastically! Even a tiny little noise from her can be heard loud and clear. We really are enjoying this product!
...

I love the Summers Infant color video monitor. I am very glad that we got the monitor with the larger screen on it. It is great to be able to see what your baby is doing. If she is playing then we can just watch her without her even knowing. The infared option is great for night time viewing as well. It doesn't light up the room at all but it is very easy to see what is going on in the room. The monitor has the option of having two cameras that you can use with just one hand held unit in case you have two children or want to put one in a play room. The clarity and the sound are great. We have not had any problems with the reception. I can even mow the grass and keep tabs on my child. I am very glad we purchased the color video monitor instead of just a sound monitor. It has made life with a new child just a little bit easier. All in all I would recommend this product to anyone having a new child in the house.
...

This Summer Infant Day and Night handheld color monitor is a must have. I was very skeptical about spending so much money on a baby monitor. I thought the TV style black and white video monitors would be fine. This monitor has changed my mind. The portability of the handheld monitor is great and the range is terrific! I can go to my next door neighbor's house and still see and hear him clearly. I also love that it doesn't have to be plugged in which allows me to do outdoor chores while still keeping my eye on the baby. It also has a battery saver that turns off the video after a few seconds which is nice so you don't have to charge it as often.

My son is finally sleeping in his room by himself and I can see what he is doing when he gets up in the middle of the night. It saves me from having to get up and go check on him. I would recomend it for every parent. Worth the high price tag.
...

The Summer Infant Handheld, Day and Night Color Monitor. This monitor is a video baby monitor. The monitor is handheld, it rotates and zooms the camera. It's wonderful. You can tote the monitor around, clip it on your pants, and at night plug it in for a charge on your nightstand for all night monitoring. We have 5 children and splurged on this monitor for our youngest two babies. At $199, it's pricey--the only drawback. You can also add up to 4 cameras, allowing more video access throughout your home. I think it should include 2 camera's for the price. We love this monitor.
...

Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor is perhaps a lifesaver. We did not have one with our first child, but we did have one with our second! truly a relief to not have to climb the stairs at every whimper. Plus our bedroom was on the main floor, and the kids were upstairs. No interference from our regular monitor, in our eldests's room.

The battery after six months does not last as long as far as keeping it away from the plug, but you can take it with you. it was super easy to set up and the picture is incredible. it is awesome to be able to watch her play ing the morning and know she's ok. I read a lot of good reviews about his and it does not dissapoint. I heard sometimes if in a denselty populated area you "could" get another signal crossed and see another persons baby, but we never had that problem. Great to have to so you know the baby is ok when you are dealing with a toddler. it would have been nice to have with the first, but not a necessity.
...

I was given the Summer Infant Day and Night handheld color video monitor as a shower gift and I am so glad that I received this. I am a first time Mom, so with that comes the nervousness about your child so being able to see my son while he was in his crib is fantastic. I've delt with other monitors that aren't video and you just never know what the noise is that you hear on the monitor. If you hear something on the Summer Infant monitor, you can just look at the screen and see what your little one is doing. The fact that it is made for both day and night is fantastic because it's nice to roll over and see what your child is up to in the middle of the night! The only bad thing I will say about this, is that when it is on the lights are pretty bright, so if you are a person who likes sleeping in complete darkness, it will take a little getting used to. While this is one of the more expensive monitors, I would totally recommend it to not only first time parents, but any parents...
...

This baby monitor was the best thing I bought when I brought my little one home. Her room is on the other side of my home, so it was difficult to hear her if she were crying. So until I bought the Summer Infant Day/Night handheld Baby Monitor, my little girl slept in the bed with my husband and me. This is very dangerous and studies show that this is how baby are accidently killed. I went out and bought this monitor and I can not only hear my baby when she was not happy but I could also see her and sometimes she was just trying to get comfortable and went right back to sleep. This helped me to get more rest and a peace of mind knowing she was safe. I love this monitor and recommend it to any mother concerned about your little one. ...
