strayergrad04 says "A Great School for the Working Adult" about Strayer University - SC

I attended Strayer University from 2002 - 2004. All of the courses I attended were on campuses in the Washington, DC area and challenging. I found the professors and staff to be the ultimate professionals. The work was challenging and time consuming, but since Strayer is a school for the working adult it was a great fit for me. When my job required travel, I took my laptop with me to do homework, complete assignments. I also had field trip assignments to museums and places like the Library of Congress. When I was on travel for my job, my professor allowed me to visit a museum in the area I would be in, with a specific topic I was to research. Each assignment required the completion of a report of my finding, etc. This was in addition to other, regular work assignments for the course that included exams (closed book), papers, presentations, mid-term and final exams. The textbooks, although pricey, were very useful. In fact, I still refer to mine in the "real world." ...
...

Folterung says "A diploma mill with accreditation." about Strayer University - SC

Strayer advertises itself as accreditated...however this is just for regional accreditation, and not for program accreditation.

Regional accreditation simply means a college has systems in place to educate students, and is not simply letting people pay for degrees.

However "real colleges" also have program accreditation, which means the actual coursework has been reviewed and given a seal of approval, so to speak.

Fans of Strayer University love to say that Ivy League Colleges have the same accreditation as Strayer. This is true only for the regional accreditation. If your major does not have any program accreditation, it is VERY unlikely that your courses will transfer to a major university.

I personally took classes at Strayer, which was a serious mistake. The classes were of such substandard quality, it was horrifying that anyone would consider this as a real education. The textbooks were of a grade-school reading level, and there were never any tests or exams. These classes do...
...

mrp188 says "Terrible- don't waste your time or money" about Strayer University - SC

Strayer did not work out well for me. Hardly anybody there speaks English. Their customer service attitude is terrible. They don't return your email or phone calls until about the fifth time, but if it is time to be paid or register for new classes they will call you at home, or work.

The course work was well below a college level, barely high school material. And the professors seem content to pass everybody without challenging them.

Overall I am very unsatisfied with Strayer Online and would not recommend to anybody.
...
