I love the Step 2 sand and water activity center. During the cooler weather months, I use sand in the center and the kids love to play and build castles. But in the summer, we fill the thing with water every day and the kids love to play with their boats and just plash around. When my daugher was smaller, she would even limb on the table and play in the water, supervised. I really like that it comes with the huge umbrella to keep the sun off the kids and allows them to play during hotter weather safely. It's also like that it's an activity table verses a sand/water box that sits on the ground, because it allows the kids to play while standing and I think that's better than sitting in the sand. Also, another perk is the lid that covers the activity table, it keeps bugs out, keeps the sand cool and most importantly it keeps rain and water out. My kids really enjoy this table all year long.
...

I was trying to find a toy that would keep both my three year old daughter and one year old son busy while in my backyard. I saw this water/ sand table but was skeptical at first. I thought it would make too much of a mess. I was right and wrong about that! Any parent knows that if you give kids water plus sand you will get mud. Even though there was a mess, the table was made with clean up in mind. I was able to pull the plug that was located in the bottom of the table and clean up the mess. That was when I got smart. I decided that I would use the whole table as a sand table and then when I needed to replace the sand I would clean it out and turn it into a water table. My kids loved the toys that came with the table and I loved the umbrella. It provided shade to the kids while they played. I also put the table on my deck so that any sand that was spilled was just hosed away when the kids were done. The most important thing that it came with was a cover. This...
...

We purchased our Step 2 Sand and Water Table in the summer of 2007 and it's holding up wonderfully. I have three rambunctious boys, five year old twins and a four year old, and I'm sure you can imagine how hard they can be on toys. This Sand and Water table is still a favorite outdoor toy and it looks just as good as it did the day we purchased it.

Most of the little bridges that it came with have long since been lost, but we've found that the boys like it just as much using their regular plastic outdoor trucks and toys. Sometimes we fill it just with sand and leave the water out, that tends to keep the mess to a minimum. The water drain plug has held up better than I expected, as has the umbrella. We've taken the umbrella out completely this year since we have the table under a large shade tree in the yard.

The cover is a nice feature, it keeps the sand and toys clean and protected when the table is not in use. I'd highly recommend this toy.
...

My mother-in-law bought the step 2 water and sand table last summer to have at her house. The family gets together at her house every Sunday for dinner. The kids (2 8 year olds and 1 4 year old) would spend the whole time playing together, without arguing, at the table. They loved to mix the sand with the water. It is a great toy. I like it because the kids are not sitting in the sand to play with it. With the water right there they cold build sand castles and things using wet sand. It has a lid that fits securly on it and the sun umbrella is great. There is a drain plug on the bottom and to clean it out all you have to do is hose it down. The kids can't wait to play with it this summer. The only down side to the table is that thier feet can get messy. Our kids wear sandles in the summer so it wasn't a big deal for us.
...

Wonderful outdoor activity for my 2.5 yr old. I only filled the water in that side one time though. I usually have the sand in both sides and he loves driving his trucks through it and making castles. I do think the umbrella is a good idea but I do not use it and my son tends to pour the sand down the hole and ends up on the ground. Overall I love this table....

If you have room in your budget, the Step 2 Sand and Water Activity Center is well worth your money! We purchased ours on sale for $60 and even my frugal husband agrees that it was a smart purchase.

My handy husband said that it was easy to assemble, even with the "help" of two toddlers. The umbrella easily folds down and we store it out of the sun when not in use.

I really like that the kids stand up while playing with this instead of sitting down in a sandbox. This table is much bigger than our previous sandbox and with the sturdy cover, I don't have to worry about neighborhood critters getting inside of it during the night.

Our kids play with this for hours and never tire of it. The table is large enough to accomodate up to eight children so there is no fighting, other than "so-and-so took my boat and won't share the shovel," etc. Also, I can't promise that there won't be any occurences of sand-in-the-mouth or nose, but I can assure you that your kids will love this...
...

The Step 2 Sand and Water Activity Center is a great way for children to be creative and use their imagination. There are two seperate sides to seperate the water and sand which allows for fun in both areas and for more than one child to play. This is a great outdoor activity that will help keep your children active and imaginitive. Great for both boys and girls of many many ages....

We bought this in July of 2006. I think it is wonderful. My daughter is now 4 but played with this toy at 2. My son has been playing with this since he was ayear old. it does provide hours of fun.I like that it is a table so the kids can't track mud into the box or get sand all over there clothes and in them from sitting in it. We left the umbrella folded up outside on the ground and after a year it rusted and broke. I really liked this feature. Any beach umbrella is a good replacement. I DID not feel that the water side leaked at all....

The sandbox was extremely hard to put together. You would need a power drill in order to have it together in a decent amount of time. The holes to screw the screws into the plastic were not already made. I thought for the money more could have been done to the pieces at the factory rather than having me do it.
However, once together my son loves it. He wants to climb into though and it can only hold 20 or so pounds....

This is a great table, we have had ours for 3 years and it is still going strong. The only complaints I have is that our water table leaks from the water side plug, and I had to throw away our umbrella after it got faded from the sun with holes almost right after we bought it....

My kids are always looking for things to do out in the backyard. The swing set never seemed to be enough to keep them busy nor was the typical ball and bat. I saw an ad from Toys "R" Us which showed a picture of the Step 2 Sand and Water Activity Center. I knew immediately that this was something that the kids would absolutely love and maybe we could finally get them to stop saying they were bored. The $69.99 that we paid for it was pretty steep but the happiness that my children get out of it, makes it worth while.

The Activity Center

According to the manufacturer, this all-in-one table provides sand and water fun, two separate sides, one for water and other for sand, 7 piece accessory set includes 2 bridges, 2 boats, 2 pots and 1 shovel, includes drain plug.Ties down securely, features roadways for add'l play.
