Disgusting! Isn't it funny how Starbuck's actually got started because they wanted to get Americans get away from bad coffee, including instant. They started out as a GOURMET coffee supplier. I know in the last few years (actually, since Harold took over) they have moved away from the gourmet and just concentrated on being the biggest, leaving quality by the wayside, but this is really the lowest they could have gone. This instant coffee is not worth the price. It does not taste good, it does not dissolve well and it is wayyyyyyyyyyyy tooooooooo expensive! I suppose it's easy and fast to make but if that's what you're looking for, just buy the cheap versions of instant coffee and do not spend the extra money. Because in the end it DOES taste like instant, not coffee and the quality overall is so much lower than what you could get from other coffee suppliers who are actually still gourmet coffees. My recommendation? if you want coffee, go for somethig good, like Peet's or Becking Coffee...
...

I was skeptical at first of Starbucks' new Via Instant Coffee. I am a coffee snob and prefer to chew my coffee, lol. Instant coffee are usually watery and without substance. I received some samples of Via and was pleasantly surprised. I would probably would not purchase it, because I think it is not as cost effective as brewing my own coffee, but I would definitely buy it if it were at a sale price or offered in bulk, rather than in individual packets. I also would not refuse it if it were given to me as a gift (*wink*). I used one packet in an ice cream recipe and it made excellent coffee ice cream. Very versatile to make iced coffee drink and home made Frappuccinos as well.

I went to Starbucks a while back when they were giving away their Starbucks Via samples with your order. I took one home and I was very skeptical. How could my coffee taste like Starbucks when I make it in my microwave? I tried it- and LOVED it. In fact, I was a horrible cheat and asked if I could sample it a few more times when I got my coffee. :) You just CAN"T be sure! :) It is so smooth! However, It is also over $3 for a three pack. Our budget is not one where we can afford that. Therefore, I tried Taster's Choice. Same idea. Same little tube of grounds. Same arabica beans... NOT the same. I spent $1 for 7. Good deal, but I was saddened to see all of the little grounds floating on the top and a gritty taste in my coffee. I will not be able to make Via a normal routine thing, but it stays true to it's advertisement. You can even put it in cold iced milk and make a little iced latte. How cool is that?!
...

Recently tried the Starbucks VIA the other day when they were doing the Starbucks taste challenge promotion. The Starbucks Via taste good for an instant coffee, it's not like nescafe or any other instant coffees that I've had in the past. Nevertheless, it's still instant and cannot compete with the freshness of getting a hot cup o joe!

I thought that the flavor was VERY strong for and instant coffee though. A little too bold, extremely rich, some bitterness and dark. And I'm an avid Starbucks coffee drinker and do enjoy coffee almost everyday so I was suprised by the simliarity to regaular coffee, but dissapointed with the boldness and bitterness of it all. I joked with and says after drinking this coffee I feel so wired that hairs are growing on my body. I probably won't be having it again, prefer a hot fresh cup instead!

Hope this review helps! Try it for yourself though!!!!!!!!!!!

I was able to taste test the VIA Ready Brew Instant Coffee. I was reluctant to try it, knowing that I had never tasted an instant coffee that I liked. I was very pleasantly surprised by the taste. It tasted as if it had been freshly brewed. I was also happy with the coupon for a free coffee that I was given just for trying the product.
...

Starbucks VIA --- the medium Columbian, is awful. I drink my coffee black, so there was nothing to help me hide the awful flavor. This stuff is almost $10, so I really feel cheated. Folgers instant coffee bags taste far better and is much less.
...

I suppose instant coffee is a necessary evil, even though I have not had any in years, due to the fact that you can get a decent cup of coffee just about anywhere these days (even at Mickey D's!).

But when Starbucks came out with Via, I was really interested in trying it because of all the hype and how confident the company is that it tastes as good as their brewed coffee. One assumes that they introduced it because of the recession -- fewer and fewer people want to spend $3 or $4 on a cup of Joe, so to hold on to their market share they needed to put out a good low-cost alternative (you can buy 12 servings online for $9.95, which is less that $1 a cup).

Luckily I got to try it without even having to buy it -- I got some free samples while at a Starbucks.

One of my pet peeves is packages that don't open easily. The long, thin Via packet has a perforated tear-off top that's super easy to open, so even before I tasted it I was pleasantly surprised.

Starbucks Via Brew Instant Coffee

when I heard starbucks was holding a "taste challenge" I figured it would be to showcase their new line of coffee. not realizing that it was for their line of instant coffee and getting a free cup of coffee just for particpating, which my dad really liked. the challenge was simple: drink both samples then guess which one is the via, reguardless the particpants get a coupon for a dollar off the via packets and a coupon for a tall coffee. after tasting both samples I made my guess, between Y and X I guessed Y and my dad guess X. Of course he guessed correctly, afterwards we used of coupons for a free coffeeand my father was rather disapointed because he was under the impression that a tall was a large cup. it's free so what does it matter? while waiting in line I thought I would check the price of the via ready brew. it's $2.95 for a three pack and $9.95 for a pack of twelve, which is a little pricey for me.

a day later I decided to use my coupon for a...
...

Often at relatives houses and especially work, I have been given pretty awful tasting coffee. A trick I have learned in bring a packet of Starbucks VIA instant coffee and add some to the "not so great" cup of coffee you are served. Usually half a pack does the trick and can go virtually undetected. I am not a very big advocate for instant coffee but Starbucks has come through on this one and you can now drink other peoples coffee without insulting them or missing out on the caffine you need!

I have also made the instant coffee on it's own and although it still is not quite the fresh brewed taste, it is great if you are in a hurry or just want a fast cup. It is not messy or cumbersome. The single serve packets are perfect.
...

Starbucks instant coffee is the best instant coffee that you can buy. I love coffee and mostly brew mine but if you need a quick cup of coffee try Starbucks instant. It tastes great, smells good and is quick and easy to make. Starbucks helps me make a fresh quick cup of coffee. I have tried the other instant coffee but I always find my way back to the best,Starbucks. Try the taste test. Buy Starbucks instant and other instant coffees. You will see the difference the very first time you taste
...

Just dropped some speed, I mean Starbucks VIA, into my coffee mug and mixed it up in an instant. I tried the Italian Roast blend. It's dark and bold as it should be. Suprisingly tasty and flavorful but of course my expectations were pretty low. I can be a coffee snob. Cafe con leche's in Spain and cappuccino in Italy can drive a person to become a coffee bean connoisseur. See how snotty I sound?! Instant coffee usually doesn't float my boat but VIA is not so bad! It's actually pretty far above average compared to other instant coffee. Also, I should be honest... I sort of hate Starbucks. I am more of a the Intelligentsia, Caribou Coffee or Peet's type. It bugs me that there is a Starbucks on every corner. I need options. So, you understand my amazement when I actually liked VIA. I didn't really want to like it. I guess "never say never" rings true here... I do recommend a Starbucks product.
...
