The conversation always goes something like this, "...let's meet at the Starbucks off so and so around 9:00". You meet, have coffee, or tea, or saddle up to their wi-fi, pay the price, and go merrily upon your way. The convenience is almost part of the lifestyle at this point. It's the same worldwide, and it works very, very well. For friends, for business, for communication, it's just become the way things are.

Let me say, I have no problem with the atmosphere, or the music sales, or the uber calorie laden pastries,, but I do have a problem with coffee I consider to be below average, and the close to extortion prices for wi-fi. Why go there you ask...if other facilities offer better coffee with more choices, in many cases better atmosphere, and free wi-fi? Because of name recognition, the comfort level of legions of coffeeholics with the branding, and others familiarity of location. Not just in my neck of the woods, but all over the world.

Starbucks has sold the branding,...
...

MOTHERS DAY ONE OF MY DAUGHTERS GAVE ME A COFFEE MAKER AND A POUND OF STARBUCKS BREAKFAST BLEND COFFEE AND I FELL IN LOVE. I HAVE USED THE SAME BRAND OF COFFEE FOR THIRTY YEARS NEVER DREAMING I WOULD EVER USE ANY OTHER BUT.......

IT HAS SSUCH A SMOOTH TASTE AND SMELLS GREAT. THE PACKAGEING KEEPS IT FRESH AND LOOKS GOOD TOO. I DON'T KNOW THE COSTS YET BUT MY DAUGHTER SAID IT WAS ABOUT THE SAME. I RECOMMEND THIS COFFEE TO EVERYONE.

...

We went to the local Starbucks the other day. We were shocked to find out that they had raised their prices. I love a good cup of coffee but at their new prices are gouging. We paid almost $20 for four drinks. For the price they get we could have bought 3 bags of Starbucks bean at the store and still have money left for whipped cream and sprinkles. I have found that Sonic now offers a carmel mocha java chiller that is to die for and much more budget friendly. More kid friendly drinks as well....

I have been a Starbucks lover since when, I don't remember anymore. I like their blends of coffee and also the strength is just right for me. Actually, I should be buying some stocks there since I am in a way making it rich....So the only downside is its prices. How I wish they could have it lower or probably they could have something like loyal rewards points for those who really patronize them.

I also like some of their pastries like the coffee cake and the butter croissant.Their pastries are not so sweet.

Hope Starbucks is here to stay at an affordable price.

.
...

They're Everywhere, and Predictably Good
I normally like to support independent businesses and will when I can. But since I'm in Miami right now, online and writing this review from one of America's convenient Starbucks locations, I thought it was appropriate to send them a shout out.

Starbucks sells every coffee combination imaginable - hot and cold, with all the java-related nouns and adjectives in the universe attached. There's another language going on in this place, and with enough money in the pocket, anyone can speak it. It's not an inexpensive hobby, to be a Starbucks junkie. I'm a hot tea drinker so all I have to say is Awake, even though they have a dozen ways of making tea as well.

I like the music that plays in the shops (and is for sale). I like the accessories, although I've never bought any. I like the guarantee of internet access - although I am presently paying for it, via T-Mobile Hot Spot and DON'T like that. Most indies will give it to you for...
...

One line said it all....overpriced and overrated....don't know why anyone would want to pay so much for coffee or pastries. The coffee is too strong and tastes burnt most of the time and the coffee drinks are loaded with fat and calories. No reason to waste that many calories on and overpriced coffee drink.
...

TaraLee says "Grande breve decaf latte with a shot of sugar free cinnamon " about Starbucks - Seattle, WA

Being an Atkins dieter I can drink decaf, with heavy cream and sugar free flavoring. So the natural place to go is Starbucks. I live in a relatively Starbucks free part of the country. Only 2 free standing stores and 2 in grocery stores within a 50 mile area. Luckily for me one is across the street from where I work.

What I love is that it seems as though the barristas take time to remember you and your drink. When they see me coming in, they are already reaching for the heavy cream. Its great I just have to tell them what flavor I want that day and I am set.

I also like that they give you a discount if you use your own mug. Granted its just ten cents, but its a discount an it benefits the earth.

I would give them a 5 but I do find that if I have not eaten the coffee "runs right through me, and not in a pleasant way" and I do think their prices are a bit steep.
...

I want to like Starbucks Coffee. I really have tried to get into the whole "Oh, Starbucks is so great. Let's sit around and drink for an hour" type of thing. But.....I don't get it. I just don't get what's so special about Starbucks.

I LOVE COFFEE! I love it all. Regular, Lattes, Mocha Lattes, iced coffee....I like it all. But I don't understand why Starbucks is special. I've tried Starbucks coffee at several different locations, even several different states! But it always tastes burnt. No matter where I am, it tastes likes it's been sitting for hours.

And the price!!! Come one! It's ridiculous. And, in my opinion, it's more expensive than the other coffee places. (maybe it's all that advertising!) I just can't afford to go there.

But, I know I'm in the minority. Everyone else loves it! The place is always packed, the drive thru is always wrapped around the building. They do a hell of a business. Which is why I tried to like it so much! I just wanted...
...

Starbucks. This company is an empire unto itself. The flavor of its coffees defies anything that you could possibly get in a local market. The ambiance of the shops themselves are quaint and trendy. This is wonderful while this company is still hot, but there are a few things about this company that make me wonder if they are really around to stay; or if they will follow the "other coffee shop" giant and fade to a newer and trendier version of itself.

First the prices, I consider thier prices a splurge. I could NEVER afford to drink these daily or even weekly. This is one of those things that are reserved for a cheap date night for my husband and myself.

Second, it is trendy. Trendy places are hot when they first come out, but as the market that it targets gets older, the need to be there seems to fade.

Overall, I would give starbucks a good rating, but would advise them; especially in todays financial market, to lower prices to what a "normal" working class family can afford. After all,...
...

Starbucks Palmdale (by Lowe's) - this location used to be the best in town. Consistent in taste of drinks, etc. Now it has become a training ground for those with bad customer service, inconsistent coffee drink mixology. You order a hot, white chocolate mocha, non-fat milk, no whip cream. Sometimes they forget . . . oops put whip cream on it . . . oops it does not taste like white chocolate mocha. When you pay nearly $4.50 for a drink, it better be right.

Starbucks needs to become more consistent at this location and save the training for behind the scenes and not at the expense of the paying customers.
...

I have had coffe from them once, about a month ago. It was a fairly good cup of coffee (I can make it better), but not even close to being worth the $3 I paid for it. I can buy a 2 lb. bag of Hazelnut flavored coffe or any other flavor or even a good coffe like Kona and make it myself and have it taste even better than they make it, for much, much less of a price.

Just simply isn't worth the price!
...
