squeegeebeckenheim says "To quote my boyfriend - it's 'abysmal.'"" about Starbucks Pike Place Roast Coffee

Seeing these loving ratings almost make me re-think my thoughts...but man, this coffee honestly is one of the most horrendous things I've ever tasted. Maybe that makes me lucky? :) To be fair, I (thankfully) don't remember the taste too well because the first and only time I've had it is when Starbucks (re)introduced it a year or so ago (it's not actually new, FYI) and I was one of the many who got in on getting a cup of it for free.

I consider myself a coffee lover (maybe i shouldn't?) and I couldn't get past two sips. I tried to have pity on the Pike Place and pawned it off on my boyfriend, anxiously awaiting a different reaction. Well, he spit his sip out in my sink and dubbed it "abysmal."

To be fair, he is not a coffee lover. But in this case I pretty much think that's a moot point. In fact, I even talked to one of my favorite baristas the other day and started off my sentence with "Well, I hate the Pike Place roast..." she responded with a sickened face and nodded in empathy....
...

seagal says "The best tasting medium body coffee available!" about Starbucks Pike Place Roast Coffee

Pike Place coffee from Starbucks has become my all time favorite. I used to drink the Organic Mexican, but was looking for a medium body coffee for everyday.

This coffee has such a smooth taste for a medium blend. It isn't acidic like some of the other blends. There is no aftertaste like you can find with the stronger coffees.

I recomend this blend to anyone who is a serious coffee drinker. It has a great aroma when brewing. Also lends itself well to mixing the decaf with the regular without sacrificing flavor for those who are trying to cut back on the caffeine.
...

Since we live in the west side of Washington, we are of course Starbucks fans, we also love our WOODS Coffee, also that's a local coffee house we go to several times a month.. We bought a bag of Pikes Place and we enjoy it very much.. I am not a coffee lover but I know a good cup V's a bad cup and this brand is truly really fine.. Don't put your coffee in the fridg or freezer you need one of the coffee containers that you can get at a chain coffee store we have two of them one is for everyday coffee and the other for the more expensive kind... ...

Gotta say... I AMa coffee lover! I recently tried this new blend from Starbucks and got hooked. It's not as potent as some brews I've had, especially from Starbucks... but this is a great coffee.

Nice body, nice bite, nice aroma.... well, it's just plain NICE!

They were having a sale the last time I was at the local Starbucks and I bought a 5-pound bag. THAT'S gotta tell you something!
...

Molly943 says "A more expensive version of McDonald's" about Starbucks Pike Place Roast Coffee

I heard about the supposedly new Pikes brew and wondered what all the hubbub was about. So I asked a friend who is also a coffee snob (as we like to call ourselves) and he told me that Pikes is actually the coffee that Starbuck's started with back in the 70's when they opened their first coffee store. So Starbuck's has essentially gone back to their roots in order to keep in step with McDonalds who has cut into their territory. I finally went to my local Starbuck's and ordered the infamous Pike's and it tasted JUST LIKE the coffee at McDonald's (which is quite good for fast food coffee) It is less bitter than the other varieties Starbucks carries. There is nothing remarkable about it. It is overpriced for a simple cup of java. It is just a more traditionally balanced flavored coffee. The decaf tastes the same so if you can't handle the caffeine, you will enjoy the decaf. But if you prefer the more robust coffees, this one will disappoint you. It comes up short for us strong coffee lovers.......

I was never a big Starbucks fan. I found their coffees and beverages bitter and sour due to their roast. However, I decided to try their new Pike Place Roast, and I'm hooked. It is smooth and flavorful, nutty with a hint of fruit. I'm now a regular Starbucks drinker!

(Note: this is a coffee meant to be brewed, not pressed.)
...
