ginlizzy says "The LG SS french doors refridgerator is great except for." about Stainless Steel Kitchen Appliances

I am a busy grandmother of 3 boys, ages 5 and the twins are 3-1/2. who live with me. All they want to do is eat, and look in the refrigerators. Well they finally broke the door on the old one and I had to purchase a new fridge. So I bought a LG - 22.6 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless-Steel. I love the french doors. It makes to so much easier to load and unload. Another nice thing about the french doors you can actually see what in the fridge with not having to move items and bending over to see what is on the bottom. I also love the freezer drawer on the bottom. (except now the kids can reach the Popsicle's) It holds allot more than it looks like it would. Right now I have over 200lb of meat in mine and still room for the other items.

The things I do not like about it: The stainless steel with 3 boys always looking for something eat the fingerprints are terrible. And the special cleaner you have to buy to get rid of them is a little pricey as far...
...

Okay, so I go against the grain. I used to work in the kitchen of a school and of course everything was stainless steel. The stainless steel appliances remind me of the coldness of that kitchen, plus, they're hard to keep streak free. I just don't understand why they are so popular.
...

I purchased a 30 " stainless steel Kenmore Freestanding Electric Self Cleaning Range in March from Sears. It is awesome. The price was great and the delivery was fast, fast, fast. They even hauled away the old Kenmore I had. The oven bakes wonderfully and I love the clean ceramic glass cooktop with the dual element and then one 9" and two 6" elements. The oven is self cleaning and after the first cleaning (you smell the new smell) it works great. Baking is so even. I would highly recommend buying your next range from Kenmore....

When I was blessed to have my kitchen remodeled, I made sure monies were put aside for new appliances. When It came to choosing where to buy quality, long-lasting, good-looking, cost efficient, good warranties products, there was no doubt we would going to Sears. Between the local Sears store and the Sears Outlet Center, we found excellent appliances: Refrigerator, double oven-40 inch stove and a dishwasher. All of these products are working excellently and make my kitchen look even better. Thanks.
...

We just purchased a newly built house and had our choice of appliance colors.....white, black or stainless. I really wanted almond, but guess that's not "in" anymore. Anyway, we chose stainless and so far I am NOT impressed.

Yes, they look nice in our cherry cabinet/granite countertop kitchen, but they are a bear to keep clean! We stayed at our new house a week last month to do some finish work and I couldn't believe how bad they looked at the end of the week. And we have no little kids to leave fingerprints everywhere! I can't imagine anyone with children having these as they would spend all their time cleaning them.

I have read that the key is to NOT use stainless steel cleaner, but haven't found the proper formula yet. I should have gotten the black ones...........
...

Oh boy....if you own stainless steel appliances like I do,,,well what a job it is to keep finger prints and water spots off of them! I never thought going sleek and high-tech would cause me so much grief trying to keep them looking sleek and high-tech!

If I'm entertaining, it could take literally hours just to clean the kitchen appliances alone.

Better off going in another direction when selecting future appliances

...

Stainless steel is boring. Why does everyone love it? Let's add some color to our homes!

In Italy, the appliances come in many different colors. I wish that I could buy a fridge that was bright yellow, or red, or magenta. Stainless steel is so institutional and cold--I understand it for restaurant kitchens, but why in the home? In our kitchen, we opted for black appliances...not magenta, but better than steel in my opinion.
...

I have a Whirlpool Gold series; which includes the dishwasher, convection oven, and the refridgerator with the water and ice dispenser.

The positives things about these three items are as follows:

These are very nice appliances. They are very appealing to the eye and very classy looking. The give a rich look to any kitchen. The dishwasher cleans nicely. The refridgerator is spacious. The water tastes wonderful. The convection oven is easy to use and self explainatory, self cleaning and beautiful.

The negative comments are as follow:

All three of the stainless steel appliances are hard to keep up as far as fingerprints go. I have four children and they always have friends come over and play. On a typical everyday basis, there are at least 6-8 kids. Fingerprints are a given. I'm very conscious about the way my home looks, especially when I have company over. This is a big downfall to me. I need to wipe clean the appliances every day. The refridgerator needs...
...

Stainless steel appliances are all the rage right now. I was watching a home make-over program, and the host noted that stainless steel would have added more value on resale of the home. The make-over group had gone with white.

I bought my refrigerator before stainless really took off. My old refrigerator conked out. I really liked the look of the stainless. My other appliances are cream colored, so I must confess that my kitchen does not match. But, I'll go stainless with other items as they need replaced.

Old stainless really showed marks like fingerprints. That was one concern I had when I saw the lovely Whirlpool stainless at Lowe's. The sales guy assured me that the stainless today is smudge resistant. He really convinced me. We have some problems with things like smudges around here with two boys, a dog, cat, 2 birds and fish. The fish doesn't really smudge things, but the rest . . . you can imagine I'm sure.

Lowe's hauled my refrigeratore right over and hooked it up. Ah joy! I was...
...
