      <description>&lt;p&gt;The South Beach Diet is a life saver. It's not really a diet, but a way of eating sensibly. The book starts with the basic tools for eating well and then follows up with a menu plan and recipes. When I first read the book, I was amazed at how logical the plan was and how easy it was to eat well and cut back on all the fat and sugar we normally have in our diet. Now it's a way of life. It's been several years since I followed the menus in the book, but I still go back from time to time and reread the book. It's a great reminder of what's healthy. I still make my own salad dressing (from the book).&lt;/p&gt;... </description>

      <description>I have been following the South Beach diet for about 4 months and have lost 63 pounds so far.  I have found that it has been relatively easy to follow and I haven't felt too deprived.  You are allowed to eat quite a bit so I haven't felt hungry either.  I have also found I have learned to like some new foods and have changed my eating habits hopefully for good.  I now find myself eating more chicken and turkey and also eating fish which I didn't care for before.  I have been exploring recipes and am learning to alter them to fit my diet.  I also only eat whole grain products now and eat alot more vegetables and fruit.

A plus I have found with this diet is that my overall health has improved as well.  I am a diabetic and since being on this diet my blood sugar is now under control.  My vision had gotten quite blurry because of my blood sugar spikes but now it is improving as well.

The weight loss has been a little slower than I hoped for but it has been very steady and it has stayed off....... </description>

&lt;p&gt;The positive aspects of South Beach is that it is very specific as to what foods you can eat as well as what foods you can not.&#160; If you follow the lists, you will lose weight.&#160; If you exercise, you will lose even more.&#160; Phase One is rough as your allowable foods are limited.&#160; Phase Two allows you to bring in fruits and some complex carbs.&#160; Phase Three is the maintenance phase, and this phase allows you to truly begin to live your new life with an understanding on how different foods relate to each other.&lt;/p&gt;

We understood the fact that cutting out all those things for two weeks and then slowly adding them back made sense. It helps your body get rid of the sugar cravings. When you add things back after the two weeks- it's good carbs. On the South Beach Diet it is sweet potatoe instead of white potatoe, brown rice instead of white rice, wheat or rye bread instead of white bread. White is not nice on the South Beach Diet. We both lost 10 pounds the first two weeks and have continued to lose weight. We purchase some of the South Beach Diet Food. The frozen pizzas are great and our favorite. &lt;p&gt;The South Beach eating style on phase 3, which I follow pretty faithfully is very healthy..whole grains, no sugar or white barbs is very good for you.&#160; I always have energy and have very few, if any cravings.&#160; I would recommend South Beach to anyone who wants to lose weight, particularly if it's belly fat.&lt;/p&gt;... </description>
