We were looking for a portable digi that we could slide into a pocket and just take it with us on the go. After spending a couple of hours looking around we finally found this one. It's easy to use, has great features that are easy to use to enhance photos, can upload to the pc, and weighs so little! Great quality pictures and an affordable price. It's about the middle of the road when it comes to price but the features along with sleek appearance make it a must have for traveling or quick trips. Takes video and pix and will do a slide show set to music if you perfer to show your pix this way. We were pleasantly surprised that after a year of owning it we still love it and use it quite a bit.
...

I love my Cybershot W80 Digital Camera. It is so easy to use and it was priced right when I purchased it several years ago. For the most part, the pictures turn out great, but sometimes they are blurry. The only thing I don't like about the camera is the turn dial which allows you to choose your lighting. Sometimes the choices do not match up to the setting in which I am taking, therefore, my pictures are sometimes blurry!

For the most part, the pictures turn out great, but it seems if I am taking a picture of a moving object, the camera is too slow to keep up with the image, leaving low light or blurriness.

If I were to suggest purchasing a digital camera to a friend, I would definitely advise to buy a Sony, but maybe wait until the next version comes out!
...

I purchased the Sony Cybershot W80 without any research (and had never owned a digital camera before), so I had no idea what to expect. Easy-to-follow buttons allow user to choose a timer, choose the macro option for close-ups (ex. flowers), or switch to the video option. The pictures I've uploaded to my computer are flawless and I've received numerous compliments on the photos I've taken. The preview screen could be a bit larger and doesn't give the actual picture taken enough justice, but is adequate for centering pictures and seeing if anyone blinked. The software program wasn't very user-friendly, though, and I switched to uploading with a different program. Although this Sony model may be a bit bulkier than some other styles, I've found it very sturdy. I've dropped it, scraped it against rocks, and left it under the sun for hours at a time - although there are scrapes and bumps along the body of the camera itself, there's been no damage to the lens. Great product...
...

My Husband really wanted a new digital camera because we were expecting a baby and our old one was'nt that great. I was skeptical because I felt our old one was 'fine" and we needed to save money for baby stuff. We tried the Sony-cybershot W80 out in the store and loved it from the start, and it was a fantastic price! I it is so easy to use ( my nine year old son is a pro), and is small enough to keep on you with no problems. It holds tons of pictures, and is so easy to edit and upload. I don't like having to take time to "learn" a new toy. I just want it to be simple and do what I want it to do. I have never had a problem "figuring out" This great little camera.
...

Sony cybershot W80 is a good compact digital camera. The best features are the carl zeiss lens and high megapixels, although you dont need that high MP for regular pictures. I gave 4 stars as it requires a special memory stick, and does not have high optical zoom. But for the compactness, its a good deal.
...

Cleebe says "A decent camera for the price you pay" about Sony - Cybershot W80 Digital Camera

The Sony Cybershot W80 is an average digital camera with an average price tag attached to it. It's held up well over the past couple years for me, and hasn't given me too much trouble. One of the drawbacks with this model is that the zoom is really lame - only 3x and feels even less. What's worse, the picture quality is evidently reduced when you're zoomed. The quality of the pictures without the zoom enabled are quite nice though. It's durable and lightweight, and the battery used to last a long time. However, now that I've owned the camera for a couple of years, it no longer holds a charge, even when the camera is off! So - every time I want to use it, I have to plug the battery into the charger for awhile - very annoying!

I think that there are probably better cameras for the same price (I paid about $250 for this at Best Buy a couple years back) out there and that you could do better than Sony Cybershot W80. However, if you come across a used one for a good price, know...
...

Well, this Sony Cybershot W80 is not brand new off the market, BUT if you do come across wanting to buy one I would suggest it. I am not super camera technical, but I use my camera everyday so I'm not dumbfounded either. I basically use the camera for chasing my kids around and toting it every where for great scrapbook shots (which by the way if you scrapbook or have kids a digital camera is the way to go), and I think the quality of the pictures is outstanding. Anyways, it gives you a lot of options, such as 5 different sizes for the photo ( 4x6, 5x7 etc), it has face detection, red eye reduction, 3x zoom, 7.2 mega pixels, you can customize your exposure and that sort of thing, 9 different options for taking pictures ( landscape, low light, whites whiter, beach water bluer, auto etc), and it records video. I love the video mode because when put on the HD ratio the quality it great for a camera, you only get about 10-15 minutes of footage, but if you use a lower quality record it has...
...

Myhusband and I recently upgraded from our Sony DSC-P8 to a Sony DSC-W80. So far we are extremely happy. We shopped around quite a bit before settling on the new cybershot, and spent a good deal of time trying out other brands. In the end, the Smile Shutter brought us back to Sony. It sounds like there is no way it would work, but it really does. We have two young children that are remarkably hard to catch smiling. With the new Sony, all we have to do is turn on the smile shutter and the camera does the rest. So far, we haven't missed a smile with the 3 year (with teeth) and have caught a few of the 4 month old (no teeth). It makes a really big difference.

The other feature that has been great so far is the burst mode. With my old camera, the missing time between shot resulted in a lot of blurring. The new camera manages to focus each shot much better. We played around with some moving targets, and the pictures came out great. One major drawback of burst mode, however, is that you can't...
...

I purchased a pink Sony W80 for my wife, both for her to easily carry in her purse and to have a family-use point and shooot camera. I use a Canon 20D DSLR, but it can be a bit bulky and cumbersome at times, so we needed a small, palm-sized camera with similar pixel resolution.

The 7.2 Megapixels of this camera make for a nice, clear image and it captures color very nicely. The flash does tend to be a bit bright at times, so for many applications, I simply disable it.

It does have PictBridge which allows direct-from-camera printing, so when paired with our Polaroid Pogo printer, we can print images anywhere, at anytime.

This camera has a very nice size, lots of settings (ISO, white balance, etc.) and takes very nice, clear photos, Basically, for anyone looking for a good all-around and easy to use digital camera, you can't go wrong with the W80.
...
