This is a battery-operated toothbrush. I specifically bought this brand because my rechargable Sonicare had given me 2 years of use before it quit working. I am sorry to say that I only got 3 uses out of the Sonicare Xtreme 3000 toothbrush before it quit working. I tried replacing batteries but it still wouldn't work. I do not recommend this product....

i had a sonicare care years ago after gum surgery, and i liked it then after a few years it wore out and broke. This year my little sister bought me a new one, i wasnt sure how it would be at first because i never even knew sonicare made a battery opperated toothbrush, the first time i tried it i felt the difference of how clean my teeth felt.

I believe this battery operated one is just as powerful as the plug ins and more convient for thoses of us who travel often and you really can feel the difference in your mouth and will notice the improvement on your next visit to the dentist.
