I bought my Solia Iron about 4 years ago. It is still working great, and works just as well as the Chi did, but was about $15 cheaper. I like my Solia better than Chi because it has a temp control. I had my Chi for about a year, then it stopped working. I know that they have a warranty, but who keeps the packaging? Again, the Solia is every bit as good as the Chi, plus has the temp control.
...

dena83 says "Four years later, still love my Solia!" about Solia Flat Iron

I've had my Solia straightening iron since 2005 and it still works great, 4 years later! My hair is naturally wavy/frizzy, and whenever I use the Solia, it tames it fantastically. If I straighten on Monday, it still looks great on Tuesday.

My hair isn't incredibly thick, but it isn't thin... I straighten in 4 main sections - the bottom, middle, top, and front - and it takes me about 15 minutes to do it all. I go from frizzy bed head to ready to go in literally a half hour (if I take my time with my makeup)! I really couldn't be happier with this iron.

I hate to say it, but recently, I left it on all day long on my vanity countertop, and it didn't leave any burn marks. However, most straightening irons will automatically turn off - this one doesn't (at least not the type that was sold in 2005 - they may have improved since then), so make sure that you turn it off when you're done using it!

The one small flaw I have found is that the wire isn't the most sturdy. I have a small...
...

meggiemoomoo says "My hair stays straight all day with the Solia straightener!" about Solia Flat Iron

I had a flat iron before that took FOREVER to get my hair straight. I have the pouffy not-straight-but-not-wavy hair type that is so annoying. I can't stand it like that so I straighten it every day, and the Solia Ceramic Ion Flat Iron has made my life so much easier! Now it only takes me about 10 minutes to straighten my unruly hair in the morning, and it used to take twice as long. Not only that, but my hair actually stays straight all day - before the ends always used to start curling and it would get pouffy about halfway through the day if the humidity is bad. Since I got this straightener for Christmas, it has been smooth and frizz-free.

The Solia Ceramic Ion Flat Iron has a dial that you can turn to adjust the heat, so if your hair is already pretty straight you can make it lower to avoid damage, and if your hair is difficult like mine, you can put it on a higher temperature. Don't worry about getting burned though - I haven't once in the whole time that I have had the iron.

Another...
...

jenriddell says "I love my Solia" about Solia Flat Iron

When my beloved flat iron died last year I bought a Remington at a discount department store. I used it for about a week, but it felt like it was tugging on my hair. I researched different models online, and although I knew I was going to have to spend a little more money, I didn't want to break my bank account. I decided the Solia provided the best value for my dollar. I have had it for almost a year now, and I still love it. It glides right through my hair (which is medium length, thick and wavy) and hasn't caused any damage. I love that it has multiple heat settings, and heats up so quickly. It also came with a travel sleeve so I can pack it even if it's still hot. I can really only think of a couple of 'cons'. For one, I really wish it had an automatic shut-off after an hour or so. I have come home from work a couple of times and found it 'on' - oops! The only other negative thing is that the round hinge covers have fallen off both sides. That doesn't seem to...
...

Solia's 1.25 inch ceramic tourmaline flat iron is a great product! I love it because it is easy to hold, and has ridges on the side of the iron part so that you can grab it around the edges (although I wouldn't recommend you do that) -- I think it is more of a safety precaution. The plates are blue, which I think is a bit odd, but perhaps thats how they distinguish their brand... I love that they have a wide range of settings. I wanted a flat iron that would enable me to straighten my hair to different levels of straight depending on my mood that day. I had seen many flat irons that only had one heat setting, which was usually ridiuclously hot. I've had my iron for about three to four years now, and it is still in fabulous condition. The only thing that dates it, is the fact that the plastic logo fell off, haha. But I don't care because it doesn't affect the functionality. Its more of the brand's form of advertisement and it was stylish :) I don't anticipate having to purchase a new flat...
...

I bought the Solia Flat iron in 2002 and I still works unbelievably!! I have extremely thick, curly and frizzy hair. The temp gets up to 450 degrees so it really makes my hair shiny and soft. Most flat iron seems to die or break within a year or two. I can't believe mine still works! Also, the price is very reasonable!...

I have a hard time finding a hair straightener that I like or works for my hair. But, this one was absolutely amazing. My hair is straight to begin with, but it likes to poof a bit because of the humidity or the damage caused by hair dye. So, I like to use the straightener for control issues. This straightener absolutely does the trick, so really if you have problems with damage, frizzies, or just plain uncontrollable hair this is the product for you....

Very user-friendly. Easy to manage and store, multiple heat settings are great for different types of hair. Love the swivel-cord and ceramic plates. Highly recommended to anyone who uses a flat iron. I've used every brand on the market and have never experienced an iron like this. My hair dresser introduced me to it and now I'm seeing it at every hair salon I go to. I use Japanese straightening on my hair. The iron works well to smooth my post-straightened hair and also quickly straightens my hair when it hasn't been treated and is extremely curly and hard to manage....

I have long, thick, curly hair and this iron works GREAT! It's a lot faster than others I have used. I like the different temperatures, so I can use it hotter, and my friends with less curly hair can turn it down to prevent damage. It works better if your hair is already dry....

I bought that this after many months of research on folica.com. Because of price and all the rave reviews it received I bought if for my daughter who has very curly hair. She hated the blow dryer so I thought with just letting her hair air dry and then passing the solia it would work wonders for her thick fine curly hair. It did better than the 30.00 conair one i had but still left her hair frizzy and thick looking. not sleek and totally straight at all. I think i should've bought the chi or sedu.
...

MDM05 says "It works like a dream!!!" about Solia Flat Iron

I love the way this product makes my chemically relaxed hair feel.

It really gives it a silky texture and high gloss with minimal damage. In the early days of my relaxer, I would only need to set it to medium strength and give it a 'once over' pass on my hair to see the kind of magazine ready results that I go for. In later stages, I comfortably set it to the higher level(s) and do the same thing - i.e. pass it over my hair just once (with about two seconds spent at the root) - to achieve results so good, that it would not appear to the naked eye that I had any new growth or need of/for a touch-up.

My ends are not more prone to splitting because of my use of this product nor is my hair overall any more damaged than it would be otherwise. It is because of this, and because of its ease of use and portability, that I recommend it highly and without reservation. With right use, anyone can have stunningly beautiful hair for themselves.

Two thumbs up!
...

I have long hair that is dark brown, but colored blonde. I have searched for a flat iron that gives me stick straight, "skinny" hair with nice pointy ends and have had trouble finding one. This is the one. It leaves my hair smooth and shiny, and finishes off the ends nicely. You won't have frayed looking blunt ends, they will blend with your hair. The straightening lasts until your next shampoo. I have even gone out in pouring rain after straightening my hair with this iron, and it stays straight with no frizz at all! I tried a hot tools brand of straightening iron before, ceramic but without tourmaline, and it frayed my ends and didn't get rid of frizz. It made my hair look more damaged. The Solia iron makes my hair look much less damaged, and it is absolutely necessary after blow drying....
