I have been using Snopes every since I can remember getting emails. A few short months after I started using the internet and email daily of course I was hit up with email "chain" letters, scams, hoaxes and sob stories by everyone from a Nigerian who had a million dollars they wanted to give me to free gift cards from Applebees for forwarding this message. A friend suggested using this site, and now, not only am I older and wiser when it comes to recognizing the email equivalent of junk mail, but I am also armed with one of the best scam detectors out there.

Snopes.com is fast and easy to use. You simply type in the subject line or a few keywords of content from your message (or even a story that someone has told you) and find out if it is fact or fiction. You can also find out details about how this so called story started and when. I admit now I work for a consumer protection website, and one of the first things I do before writing about a bogus email message is start my fact...

Snopes is great to find out what's true and what's not on the internet. With so many forwards going around it is nice to be able to go to a site and know if you should pass it along or stop it in it's tracks. Great site.

Great website! Snopes is worth hours of entertainment. The articles are concisely written and provide and objective viewpoint. They were here long before the Mythbusters! Watch out for an April Fools joke mixed in with the rest of the myths! ...

Some of the rumors bantered about in emails now-a-days are ridiculous. Using snopes.com, most of the time you can either verify or disqualify these rumors.

How can any candidate, during the playing of our National Anthem, forgot and/or refuse to place his/her hand over their heart? (1) when the flag is displayed- (A) all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart;

Every year about this time, (Christmas) one hears or reads about Salvation Army bell ringers getting a percentage of the pot...up to fifty percent. FALSE! #1) Who would start such a rumor? #2) Who'd believe it?

I get emails all the time from a friend of mine who believes everything he reads. (How gullible.) I'll look it up on snopes.com and send him a reply...

I love that Snopes has a website to find out if an email is true or not. I have looked up many emails on Snopes and found out which ones were wrong. I have passed on the information that I found on Snopes to all on my email list. It is an easy site to use. Once in a while I might have to put more information in or change the wording but have always come up with an answer....

I get thousands of e-mails. Like to pass them along but when I don't think they are true I log straight onto Snopes. Great to find out if it is true or false before I pass it along. Check it out....

This site is fantastic! You can just type in information (like about an email you got that you doubt the authenticity) and it will present you with facts and whether or not it is true or false....

This is a great website that can put a lid on some of those stories that float around via email or via word of mouth at the work place. I use this site quite often to prove people right or wrong, whatever the situation is, on some of these urban legends....

This is a great and interesting site. There are so many emails and general myths circulating these days due to the internet that there needs to be a site like this to set the record straight.
Anytime you get an email with a hard-to-believe story or disturbing information drop into this site to doublecheck the claim.

My siblings and I have used this site to check my mom on several disturbing Forwards that she was passing on to mass contacts!

This site is also good just to just browse and find new interesting tidbits or myths exposed.Greeat site!!

I have used Snopes.com often through the years to try to find out if certain e-mails I receive from friends are really true or not. For example, sometimes one might receive an e-mail claiming that a certain company is giving out a BIG reward or FREE product to the person who forwards the e-mail to the most people and that they can track how many you send. Many times if you check it out on Snopes.com you can find out by searching the topic if it is bogus or not. There are many deceptive e-mails out there. One I have been getting frequently as of late reads something like that a certain individual from overseas wants me to receive millions of dollars by transferring funds into my bank account, etc. Snopes can help in almost any case. They have a huge data base of all kinds of reports, from bogus missing childrens claims to so-and-so dying and collecting money for a fund or cure, etc. I even got one e-mail last week from an old coworker that stated Hillary Clinton's pastor was......

I love this site! I get a real kick out of informing my friends, on-line and offline, just how ludicrous some tales really are; especially those forwarded emails. Not only does this site try to give the public up-to-date, factual information, based on their research, but the researchers also manage to throw in some humor now and then.

I'm amazed at how long some urban tales have been around, and snopes.com does an excellent job reguarding historical aspects of a legend. It's even a great site to browse, for new stories you might never heard of....
