I purchased the Smooth Fitness Treadmill 7.1 about a month ago. It took 2 weeks for delivery, then another week to get someone to my home to set it up. I paid extra for the premium delivery and setup and needed to take 8 hours off of work because it was not property coordinated by Smooth.

Once the machine was set up, I was so happy to get started. Then the other shoe dropped, so to speak. The machine only worked for about 5 minutes. The thing stopped in the middle of my very first workout!

I worked on the machine for a while, thinking that I had done something wrong. The LCD screen never went off, but the belt just stopped moving. I turned it all the way on and off. I disengaged the safety key and reinserted it. I cycled the LCD screeen -- and it blinked at me for a few times. I tried kick-starting the belt and that worked! Hurray! I worked out for a few more minutes -- then the LCD blinked all "8"s at me and the belt stopped again. OK. Now I was upset!

I called customer support -- no answer,...

An amazing product. I have it and i use it everyday, this is the best tredmil you can find, so convienient. I lost 27 pounds in 23 days!!!

This treadmill is compact and easy to move across carpeted floors. Unlike other treadmills, it can be used for walking and jogging. It is quiet so you can watch TV while exercising. I definitely recommend this for stay-at-home moms, seniors, and those who have limited space at home.

I was leary about such a purchase... would it really be helpful when I couldn't walk outside due to the weather... would it end up as a thing to hang clothing upon?
I was pleasantly surprised! It does everything that I need it to do and more. Anything that you wish to track (pulse, heartrate, distance etc.) you can do here just like the machines at the gym.
The fold up option is great too. The base is a little heavy but it does easily fold up. One person alone can do it.
All in all this was a great purchase and I'd reccomend it.

The price:

The Sole F80 Treadmill is in the $1500 range. The Smooth 7.1 Treadmill can be found in the $2,000 range. Note that Sole offers free shipping; Smooth does not although their delivery time is said to be excellent.

Warranty:

Smooth gives you a Lifetime Warranty on Frame and Motor and 20-year motor and lifetime deck and frame. You'll get a 5- year warranty on all parts and 1-year of in-home service at no additional charge.
On the Sole 80 you'll also get a lifetime warranty on the frame and motor however rather than a 20-year warranty on the motor like Smooth gives you you'll get a lifetime warranty on the motor. You'll get 5 years on electronics/Belt/rollers and 2 years on labor rather than 1 year. The Sole's warranty is a bit better but Smooth gives a good warranty as well.

The basics:

The Sole 80 weighs 250 pounds; The Smooth 7.1 weighs 260 pounds obviously not a significant difference. Smooth's user weight is up to 350 pounds; Sole's is 335 pounds. Again this is not a huge difference...
