I purchased my smart car August 2008. The car came in sooner than was expected. I still had the lease on my old car. I could not drive it until four months later. I love the savings I get in gas. Actually, I thought would be able to go two weeks on it. I guess I do so much driving that I have to fill up once a week. I never let it get past 1/2 tank either. One thing I do enjoy about the car is that I do not have to get oil changed until 10,000 miles. This Smart car is the wave of the new future. I feel like a celebrity in it. Soon everyone will have one. I wish it drived a little bit more smoothly. That is the only real downfall I have. I love my car.
...

kimberleejudy says "My SmartForTwo makes me smile every time I see it." about Smart ForTwo - 2008

I have owned my 2008 Smart for Two Passion Coupe since May 2008. I love everything about it. I really enjoy the attention I get from other drivers; even when getting gas or shopping. I get good gas mileage, around 35 MPG regularly, and the car is fun to drive. It is fairly responsive. I am not a sports or muscle car driver, but I enjoy the way the Smart handles almost every driving condition, although at high speeds (over the posted speed limit) it can feel a little light on the road. I love how high I sit to drive. I never feel like I am in a small car. I sit up as high as most pickups. I can see over the sedans and sports cars on the road, and that makes me feel safe. My favorite thing is driving past a building with ground floor windows. It may seem narcissistic, but I love to watch it drive past. I love the Smart community. We smile and wave at each other as we drive past. When you see it from the front, you see the smile. I love the styling, and I love...
...

tommycd1024 says "Great Company" about Smart ForTwo - 2008

First of all I want to start off by saying that I do not currently own a Smart.

I would like to share an experience I have had with the US company selling them. I placed a deposit for a reservation shortly after the whole process started. The deposit was $99 which at the time was a steal to get this vehicle. I do have to admit that it took longer then expected for my car to come in. It was last October(2008) when I was notified that my car would be arriving in December(the 22nd in fact, just in time for a Christmas present for myself). There was only one problem. In January of 2008 I was forced to go on long term disability(not my choosing but due to my MS and missing a lot of work my company said it was either that or get fired but I won't get into that). Anyway with a reduced paycheck and not much in savings I planned on trying to save enough with my trade in to buy the car outright without any loans. Well that did not work out as I had hoped, but I sure did try. Anyway...
...

I bought my Smart for 2 Cabriolet in February 2008, and I love it as much now as I did when I bought it. It zips through traffic nicely, is great on gas and never fails to get a turn of the head of other drivers. Although it is small, I am able to do a week's worth of grocery shopping (as long as I am alone) and I get into parking spaces many other cars cannot.

I don't travel a lot on a day to day basis and this is not my primary vehicle, so I don't drive it on the highways much, especiallly on very windy days. I drove it once in those conditions, and I did feel a little sway. Also, there is no spare tire.

Obviously, this is not a car for a family of more than 2 as there is no back seat, but if you are looking for a good, gas saving vehicle (I get almost 40 miles to the gallon), I would recommend this car.

I first fell in love with the Smart Car when I saw them all over Europe about ten or twelve years ago. About 2/3 the size of a Mini Cooper, it is the ideal city car. You can park it just about anywhere, even the tightest of spots (and semi-legal spots). So when I heard that they were coming to North America, I jumped on the waiting list. Two years later, they were under production and we got our Smart Car. We purchased the convertable, since we planned on using it pretty much just around the city (Chicago). It has been a really fun car to drive. It does not drive as smooth as, say, a luxury car. And it certainly doesn't take bumps as well. But the fact that it is quite peppy and gets us about 45 mpg makes up for all of that and more.

A couple of neat little features:

1) If you get tired of the color of your car, you can take it back to the dealer and have them replace the panels for about $1000.

2) There is actually trunk space. I have had a passenger, two dogs, and a...
...
