I am writing this about the Peanut Butter Crunch variety that I bought from Amazon.

Years ago when I tried these, they were AWESOME. As another reviewer said, they tasted exactly like Butterfinger bars.

WELL, NOT ANY MORE. :(

I don't know what happened, but they have some off-taste to them that makes them almost inedible. The texture is still the same, and you can tell the taste is trying to be the same, but it's nowhere close. Unfortunately I cannot place the taste to give an idea.

I am very sorry I purchased 8 boxes of these..

     Slim-Fast Optima Snack Bars are all the excuse I need for a mid-afternoon snack. I have the packages of two flavors right here in front of me. They are Chocolate Peanut Nougat and Chocolate Chip Muffin Bar. In a great feat of gastronomic magic, one package will soon disappear.
     Optima Chocolate Peanut Nougat is a little guy. It weighs just one ounce, has 120 calories, 4g Total Fat (2.5 sat), 70 mg Sodium, 20g Total Carbs (1g fiber), and 1g Protein. Touted especially on its label are the 15 vitamins and minerals it contains.
     Chocolate Peanut Nougat is chewy without challenging your fillings. A layer of peanuts in carmel sits atop the nougat which reminds me of a Three Musketeers filling with heft. I enjoy this bar because it simply tastes like candy. It does contain some of my cravings, though, so it's purpose is realized.
     Chocolate Chip Muffin Bar weighs in at 1.19oz and is generally a little more substantial than the Peanut Nougat. ...

Years ago, I was a huge fan of Slim-Fast dietary supplement powder which could be added to low-fat milk for use as a meal replacement a couple times a day as part of a weight reduction plan. I enjoyed it very much and am not sure now why I stopped. At any rate, Slim-Fast Optima Snack Bars are winning me over again. They come in several flavors -- the one I picked this time was Chocolate Mint Crisp. In my opinion, these are delicious -- great flavor, moist but chewy and I did not detect an after-taste.

One bar constitutes a single serving which contains 120 calories with 40 calories from fat. There are three grams total fat, two grams saturated fat, zero trans fat, five mg. cholesterol, 140 mg. sodium, 19 grams total carbs, less than a gram dietary fiber, five grams sugars, six grams sugar alcohol, and two grams protein.
