My husband and I purchased a sleep number 7000 in May of 2008. He is happy I am not. We have a double bed in our spare room, the mattress is over 30 years old. I sleep like a baby inthe other bed. The sleep number hurts my hips shoulders and arms. It is like they are a throbbing toothache. Don't buy a sleep number!
...

JRinIL says "For the money Sleep Number Beds have a lacking warranty" about Sleep Number Bed - Select Comfort

On my second Sleep Number Bed which we have owned for 4 years. Recently started having problems with my husbands side of the bed not staying inflated. Called customer service and they intructed me to try a couple of fixes to see if the air chamber or the air system was broken. Called customer service with the results and was informed that the air system would need replacing. I was then informed that the cost to me would be around $200.00 plus shipping and handling. I was slightly taken aback considering when my other Sleep Number Bed (purchased in 2001) air system broke 3 years ago they sent me a new one at no cost. I was then informed that the warranty on my newly replaced air system would only be for 30 days and that it would be a refurbished unit. So, for clarification I asked if on day 31 the newly replaced unit stopped working and would need replacement also what would happen. I was told that the warranty at that point reverts back to the original and I would have to pay again....
...

My husband and I went in deciding we wanted to spend money and get a good bed we would both be comfortable on. We tried out the different models at the Select Comfort store and decided to get the model just below the top model. It took about 27 days to get it delivered and $300.(Which is required) The first night we laid down on it I was almost in tears. It felt like a blow-up mattress that we use camping, with about the same quality. As I laid on my side my hip would go numb after only a few minutes. We called customer support right away and were told the beds in the store have a different part on them that you don't get with the bed that is delivered. Well, by the time the part gets delivered the time period for returns is up.( I did go back to the store and they said they have never heard of additional parts.) When my husband called customer support again to discus other options they said what do you expect you cant tell if you are going to like it in the store because your only trying...
...

We purchased a select comfort king size mattress in Sept 2007. After having the mattress for 9-12 months the pump stopped working. I called customer services and they had a new pump sent out. Now one year later the pump stopped working again and when I called customer services the second pump is not under warranty and we now have to pay 200-400 dollars to replace the pump. The mattress sleeps good when the pump is working but to have to pay 200-400 dollars every year to replace the pump really increases the price of a good nights sleep. The company does not stand behind their product and customer service representatives lack a little to be desired in the kindness department.
...

I love my new sleep number bed. I have a queen with one chamber. I can change the number if I want to work on my bed to 100... and then down to my sleep number when I am ready for bed. I wake up refreshed. I used to have the top of the line Serta but this is much better. It does cost a little more than the average shopper would pay for a mattress but it is well worth it.
...

Sleep number beds are the beds that have air in them to make them as hard or as soft as you like your bed to be, they also have two seperate sides so each person who sleeps on the bed and may have different sleep needs can sleep in the same bed together with two completely different firmness settings. I sleep very well and some nights I want my bed softer or firmer depending on the days activities etc.

I would recommend this bed to anyone who doesnt seem to sleep well, has a bad back or any other issues with pain or just not being able to fall asleep.
...

I have had my sleep number bed 2 yrs now. When I first got it I noticed a big difference instantly, I was sleeping way better then ever. I was used to a water bed and this was great. Now 2 yrs into it I am not sure what happen to the great bed. I have adjusted the settings and it just seems that I am back to the old way when I had my water bed. I still do like this bed but it just has lost more then half the spark it originaly had. I think the quality of the bed is perfect 100 percent. I just am unhappy that the good sleep didnt last.
...

Sleep Number Bed Free In Home Trial Is NOT Free!!!!!

We were very disappointed. They charge you $59.99 to ship to your house and then if you return it you pay shipping back. NOOOO NOT just $59.99 but try triple that because they get a discount on shipping it to YOU but if you ship it back its all your baby!!!! We were out over $300.00 dollars for our "Free IN HOME trial" As far as the comfort of the bed. Not our cup of tea. The air pressure flutuates up to 10 lbs and will make a difference. Did not like having to always check the air pressure. Not a bed to just jump in to and go to sleep. Vey cheap and not worth all the money. Very deceptive in their marketing . Also watch what you buy. Everything not attached to the bed is considered an assessory and is not returnable.
...

terrible bed if you move around you can eventally fallinto the middle between the air bags and it causes a dip in the bed. warranty is really only 2 yrs not 20 yrs. cost of a new pump at 5 yrs is over 180 bucks and a new peice of foam is over 150 bucks. by the the time you hit your end useage 20 yr mark this bed would be in really bad shape. i have had mine for 5 yrs and i take really good care of it and it is falling apart now. to repair the broken items is over 600 bucks. i might as well get a decent normal bed for the replacement cost.
...

We ordered this bed after we had read the great reviews on their website. It sounded so appealing (we could have different sleep numbers, 20 year warranty, comfortable, etc. etc.). We purchased a C4, and have regretted the desision ever since. First, it smelled terrible for about a week, (like an animal had died), so nauseating that we could not sleep on it. I called customer service and they said this was normal as it aired out. So, we waited it out. We also realized right from the start how much it felt like a cheap air matress you could buy at Walmart for $30.00. We could not figure out how it was supposed to be comfortable. But, they had told us to set our number, then give some time to adjust. So, we waited it out longer. But, it kept getting worse. We both were constantly rolling into the center of the bed, because of the horrible slant, even if our numbers were set the same. We called them about it, and they said it was common. They said we could order a part (a part we had to pay...
...

okay where do i start, I bought my sleep by numbers bed over six years now. It's thee best mattress i've ever slept on, I must admit when i first received the mattress it took me a few days to get my comfort zone. unfortuntaly the model i chosen doesnt come with the controls that display the numbers on it, you have to get the feeling for where you want to set your comfort zone. On the inside of the mattress there are two seperate bags that inflate and are seperated by foam rods/pads The mattress pad comes with a zipper to remove the outer liner of the cover for washing, this is one of the better features then having a regular mattress, you cant wash them. But you have to be careful when drying the mattress covers, they tend to kind of melt in certain places. I did have to change the mattress cover though, it cost me a small percent of the original price, i had to send back the old cover to the company after they ship me a new mattress cover. overall it's one good bed for the money
...
