Ska beer, especially the Ten Pin Porter and True Blonde are my favority kinds of beer. They're light, but delicious and go well with many different foods. Locally brewed, this company consistently provides high quality products at a reasonable price. My one negative comment is that they need to increase their product coverage to more places in the US- now you can only get it in and around Durango, CO. The logos of all their beers are sweet, eslecially the Nefarious! People actually collect the various brew bottles because of the artwork. Cans have recently been introduced to the market, which are more convenient than glass....

aleconner says "Certainly not nefarious tasting!" about Ska Brewing Nefarious Ten Pin Imperial Porter

* Mahogany in color with garnet highlights; medium creamy tan head.

* Roasted grain / malt aroma has subtle smokiness.

* Flavor doesn't fully develop until mid-palate; sweet roasty flavor intensifies. Mild vegetal (cooked brussels sprouts?) makes brief and inoffensive apperance at midtaste.

* Finish turns decidedly drier; roasty flavors take over.

* Body is medium-full. Respectable heft carries its weight in flavor. Creamy mouthfeel; some warmth lingers (8% abv).

Synhopsis:

This big and bold brew pulls no punches to the palate. It's full flavored, full bodied and full of attitude...just one of many from the Ska Brewing company. If you prefer your porter with the intensity of an imperial stout, then this is one to seek out.

The only reason I didn't give this beer a 5-Star rating is that I felt it was a bit lacking in complexity -but what was there was very good!
...
