tjamaco says "Wish I'd done it sooner." about Simonton Impact Windows

We replaced all of our aluminium, single pane, sliding windows in our 1967 ranch style house. We chose Simonton for their appearance, price and value, after shopping big box stores, and 3 other replacement companys. Simonton was the best, hands down. Relacing our windows was the single best improvement we've made to our home. The windows operate smoothly, fit perfectly and do a wonderful job of keeping out noise, drafts and heat transfer. I like the lifetime replacement guarantee.
...

bmjd says "Windows still leak after three replacements!" about Simonton Impact Windows

We purchased 10 Simonton double hung and mulled twin double hung windows. They were affordable, easy to clean, and look good. The problems started from day one with the windows. We were in the home stretch of our dairy barn renovation, turning it into a house, and had all the sheet rock up and painting almost 100% completed. We decided to go down to our almost completed house during a bad storm to see how everything was going. We found that 6 of our windows were pooring with water all over our new and freshly painting sheet rock. The four windows that weren't leaking were sheltered by the porch. Needless to say we spent every rainy night at our house ringing out towels from four house holds to help save our sheet rock. They without much questioning sent replacment windows. The next good storm we got they were all still leaking. They sent someone guys from the company to come see what was going on. They couldn't find anything wrong with the instalation, they actually......

I really love my Simonton windows. From the start, we noticed a difference in our electric bill. Plus, they help to reduce noise. I also love the fact that I can open them from the top-means my cats cannot knock out the screens like they did with our 25+ year old windows. ...

Simonton Windows are very good and have a great reputation. Distribution is not the best though. Delivery is quick. Price is a little higher than most. Easy to install. EnergyStar rated so you can get a tax deduction this year. Colors are limited as are the interior finishes. GOod value over all....

kirbyrambo says "Safe and secure for cleaning and.... oh yeah, HURRICANES!" about Simonton Impact Windows

I've never been excited about windows until I had my double hung impact windows put in last year. They are not only easy on the eyes and noise barriers, I have a sense of security that I didn't have with regular glass windows. Thieves can't break these windows nor can hurricane debris. If we leave for vacation or have a storm coming, I have one less thing to worry about.

The double hung windows have a feature that lets you tilt the windows inward so you can clean both sides very easily. No more ladders on the outside of the house to climb to clean the windows on the second story.

I have had a few problems with the bottom sash coming off the track so the window can't lock. Fortunately, Simonton has very effecient customer service. I have called them twice and within minutes they have solved my problems with no hassle.

Impact windows are generally expensive and these are no exception but feeling safe, quiet and secure with easier cleaning is definitely worth it to me.
...
