mypointofview4u says "Similac Sensitive R.S. worked wonders for my grandaughter " about Similac Sensitive R.S. Baby Formula

My grandaughter was on the soy based Similac first , followed by regular Similac. Between her suffering through frequent spit ups and terrible bouts of diarrhea , we were not sure what to do. We even tried the old stand by of adding cereal to the bottle but even that didn't help her. Her pediatrician finally gave us a few sample cans of Similac R.S. All I could say is that it was heaven sent. Her tummy calmed down, she slept better (we were told that the "RS." means that rice starch is added to the formula) so her little belly must have felt fuller longer. The only trouble we had after finding this little "miracle" was that the stores in our area didn't normally carry it in large quantities and some didn't carry it at all. They said it was because it wasn't a common formula item being purchased and the demand for it didn't warrant stocking it. However, we were lucky enough (again!!) to have our local Weis market order it for us to ensure that we had it for as long as our liitle...
...

amomwhocares says "Worked for my reflux baby" about Similac Sensitive R.S. Baby Formula

My son was diagnosed with severe reflux and food intolerances. While he was partially breastfed, I also had to supplement. We tried many different brands of formula and many different types of formula. We tried enfamil, bright beginnings, parents choice, just to name a few. We also tried ready to feed and powdered versions. The ready to feed version was easier for my son to digest and keep down. The powdered versions always came right back up in our faces. This formula is a good value for the money and it really does work for babies with sensitive stomachs.

The smell is unpleasant, but I have not found a formula with a pleasant smell.

I highly recommend this formula to parents of children with sensitive stomachs, children with reflux issues, and children with food intolerances. It is more expensive than generic formulas and regular formulas, but it is worth the price to have a happy, healthy and thriving baby.
...

JJJJJJ123 says "BEST FORMULA EVER!" about Similac Sensitive R.S. Baby Formula

Similac Sensitive RS is the best formula that I've used (two kids, many formulas along with breast milk). It is thickened which really helped my son's spit up and it is easy to digest. He is not fussy and has slept through the night since he was two months old. Some people complain because corn syrup is the main ingredient. In most formulas, lactose or milk is the main ingredient. Hello! Corn syrup and lactose are essentially the same (SUGAR). They are both natural. Corn syrup prevents constipation. If you don't have lactose (and this formula doesn't) then you're going to have corn syrup. What is wrong with corn all of a sudden? Anyway, this formula is GREAT! It won't let you down!
...

Both of my babies were born with very sensitive stomachs. I primarily breastfed, but also liked to supplement with formula to help my sanity and give me some extra sleep! I tried several different "sensitive" formula's on both of my children. My son settled on a soy product that worked well, but my daughter was just not doing well with any products. My doctor recommended that I try Similac Sensitive R.S.. It is supposed to decrease spit-up, as well as fussiness and gas. Within 2 days of starting the formula, I was able to tell a difference in my daughter and her sensitive stomach. She transitioned from spitting up 4+ Tbsp., to only a tsp or two with each feeding. She also became a happier baby and was much easier to console. I was very happy with this result, because Similac R.S. is not that much more expensive than regular Similac, and the next product the Doctor recommended would cost at least 4 times that amount. The only negative thing I would have to say about the...
...

With our first child we used Enfamil A.R. When our second child had reflux we tried Similac instead. The Similac sensitive was among the first we experimented with and we quickly determined it to be a winner!!!!! We consistently used the Similac Sensitive R.S. (R.S. means rice starch which simply helps thicken the formula in baby's belly to avoid being spit back up.) Not only did we like what the formula did for reflux, we like what the company had to offer. Similac coupons or checks, what have you, were always arriving after we registered online! I love a good deal. I almost never had to pay full price for formula since these checks were sent so often! I also always bought this formula in ready to feed which made it super easy to just pour into the bottle- ready to go! Downfall: it was a little dark in color and stained clothing easily. Also , had to keep it cool when heading out because the RTF had to be refrigerated once open.

Similac is great, but this product is not much different from other things alike currently on the market. This product is expensive and I had no positive effects at all from it. My daughter did not like the taste and I did not like the smell. For the price I would never buy it again and I am sure not about to give any recomendations to my friends about this product. I think this product will only make it for a little while in stores. Waste of good money when buying this product.
...

tiff61781 says "Best formula for babies who spit up frequently" about Similac Sensitive R.S. Baby Formula

This formula is great for babies who have frequent spit up. It comes only in liquid, 32oz bottles, which are between $5.50 and $7 each, depending on the store. The container it comes in is wonderful, as it has a lid and is very easy to store. The bottle is made of plastic, which is great for recycling. It does not have a foul smell, like the Enfamil Nutramigen. My son spits up excessively normally. We have not been able to use regular formula since he was about a week old. (Now is 8 months old). We switched first to Enfamil A.R., which is good, but it is VERY thick, and it is not easy to store and shake before each use, since you have to use a can opener to put a hole in the can. There is no lid, so you always have to use plastic wrap when in the fridge, which is inconvenient. We then switched to the Nutramigen by Enfamil, which was good, but VERY pricey ($10 a can), and makes the baby smell like fried chicken. Finally, a few months ago, we switched to Similac Sensitive RS and LOVE it....
...

Similac R.S. formula is one of the better formula's that I have used and I have tried several that are on the market today. My son was beastfed when he came home from the hospital, but when I started to put him on both formula and breastmilk I noticed a probelm. He became real fussy and gassy. So I tried different formulas and found out that this formula had a little bit of cereal added to it and it helped to coat his tummy. So less gas and spit up issues. I think its a great formula. I would recommend this formula to people whose children are constantly spitting up. If they seem to get gassy as well this is a great formula to help cut down on the gas. The only drawback is they do take up extra space since they are a little bigger than the cans but contain less....

I initially started out breastfeeding. However, my son had frequent and large amounts of spit up and was quite fussy all the time. We switched him to formula at 3 months. Same thing continued. Moved him to Similac Sensitive, fussiness was eliviated, buy there was still alot of spitting up. Our pediatrician recommended us to try this formula as a last resort before we tried something like Zantac....thank goodness we did, IT WORKED!...

My daughter was born in July of 07. I tried just about every formula because I was not able to breast feed. My daughter was fussy and spit up so much that when I took her for a check up the daughter told me I could not take her home.

I started using Similac R.S. because the formula was so much thicker. I have only positive things to say about the formula itself. I think the only thing I would complain about is that it is only available in liquid and doesn't keep very long in the refrigerator. It did however almost completely eliminate the fussiness and spit up.
...
