My baby was miserable. We tried every formula on the market. He has colic time 100 which made him cry all the time. On top of it, he would throw up (spit up is being too nice) evertime he ate. We thought he had a lactose problem, but changing him to a soy formula did not help. Then we discovered Alimentum. It cost more, but it is worth it. It makes baby and parents very happy!
...

After many stressful and exhausting months and after trying numerous formulas, we realized that our daughter was allergic to soy, milk, had colic, and had severe reflux. We were at a complete loss for what formula would fill her up as well as help us avoid reflux seizures and awful bouts of colic while keeping in mind her allergies to soy and milk. Our pediatrician, as a close to last resort, introduced us to Similac Alimentum and that is the formula we stuck to until our daughter was one year old. She thrived on it! It is expensive and completely worth every penny!
...

My son was a colicky baby. Originally he was put on Similac Advance. His first periatrician did not want to switch his formula. He had so much gas we decided to take him to another doctor who then switched him to Isomil and in turn also switched him from the Isomil to Similac Alimentum. This was great. Immediately we saw a difference in my son. There was less crying, less swpitting up and less need for infants mylicon and less need for the antac they put him on as a newborn (which I was not comfortable with anyway). Similac Alimentum, while expensive, does what it is intended to do (from out eperience anyway). Though it smelled and stained it was no more gross than any other formula. My son loved the taste and in order to wean him off we mixed it with milk as per our pediatrician. When I have another child, next time I will jump right to alimentum if there is a problem with the regular milk based formula.
...

my son tried regular milk based similac formula when I was exhausted trying to breast feed every 1-2 hrs. He used it for a short time but then had some sensitivity to it and we were told to try soy isomil kind. He spit it all up often and so we were told by the pediatrician then to try the Similac Alimentum for him. He did wonderfully with the Similac alimentum and had no spit up. He was able to thrive using the alimentum. The price was 2-3 times the price of milk based generic formula. The only problem was that it was so expensive. I decided to then increase my breastfeeding frequency once I recuperated from the c-section. I had been only doing the breastfeeding 2 times a day but then increased to full nursing because I thought the price was too high at the time and nursing was more manageable. My niece used the Similac Alimentum as well when she spit up everything else and it worked great for her.
...

We put my extremely colicy baby on this formula and she did so much better on it. She is now 2 years old and it turned out that she is lactose intolerant, so that may have been why she was having trouble with other formulas. The Alimentum made her a happy baby rather than a crying all the time baby. She also had rashes with other formulas and this made them go away. If I had anothe child with problems like this, I would definitely switch to this formula. It is easy to digest and made my life so much easier! It does smell awful but my daughter didn't seem to mind. This is a little bit expensive, but not too much more than regular formula. I never did find it in a larger can either which is where you can find a lot of savings when you are buying formula. I think I paid around $14 for a small can. With formula checks (from the manufacturers), the price wasn't too bad. Great product! Made my daughter stop screaming.
...

Similac Alimentum is formulated for babies with colic and food allergies. Similac Alimentum is also a hypoalleergentic formula, which eliminates allergic reaction due to cows milk protein. It is easy for Baby to digest. It is designed to help with colicy symptoms such as fussiness and excessive crying due to cows milk protein sensitivity. At the age of one week, my baby had colic symptoms such as exsessive, bending backwards when she cried as if her stomach was hurting real bad. She would cry so hard that she would be holding her breath. I had seen alimentum before, but I wanted to get her pediactric's opinion before switching to a new formula. He recommended trying her on Similac Alimentum Hypoallergentic Formula, so when I left the doctor's office, I went straight to the grocery store to buy a can of the powdered formula. It works like a miracle. It says on the can "Fast Colic Relief" I noticed a difference within three days. The only con I see to this alimentum formula is that...
...

tsiqueiros says "Similac Alimentum is easy on the stomach, but smells like cheese" about Similac Alimentum Hypoallergenic Formula

Similac Alimentum is a very good formula for moms who have babies that are sensitive to milk proteins, but dont want to put their children on soy. It is used for many things, such as fussy babies with colic, protein issues with regular milk, and many other stomach issues that babies can have. Although it kind of smells like cheese, my daughter, who has GERDS (gastro esophogial reflux disease syndrome), felt almost immediate relief with this formula, although doctors say that it can take about three days before you can tell how a formula will affect a child. I had issues with soy, because of studies that have shown that it can increase the risk of breast cancer especially in females, but with Similac Alimentum there isnt as much worries, because it made out of different things. So if you have a baby with stomach issues, such as GERDS or lactose intolerence, I would definitly recommend trying out Similac Alimentum before you make the change to soy.
...

For weeks my son was completely unhappy unless he was sleeping. It was so upsetting to me since my other two children were so happy and easy going. When I was six weeks old I returned to work and my huband had left for 2 weeks of training. After 3 days of him crying almost all day I needed answers to his unhappiness or I was surely going to fall apart. We then met with the doctor and discussed all his symptoms and she suggested we try Similiac Alimentum. The change in him was almost immediate. Everyone around noticed the difference in him. He was smiling and happy just sitting in his bouncy or his swing. I was new to the product and little hesistant since I had never used it with my other two children but I am so glad for the change. It has allowed us to survive! Although the formula is a little pricey, I couldn't imagine not using this formula. I would pay anything to have a content baby who isn't crying constantly! Now that we have a happy baby we need to work on sleeping all night! Thanks...
...

I'll say right away, Similac Alimentum is expensive, but if you have a fussy baby and have tried everything, this formula may work for you. Our baby was fussy and writhed in pain after a bottle. We tried several different formulas, including soy, but nothing worked until we tried Alimentum. Similac claims that Alimentum will help fussiness within 24 hours. While it didn't work quite that fast for us, it definitely did the job and finally allowed our baby to eat without the pain.
...

One of my twin daughters constantly spits up. Her Pediatrician switched us from formula to formula to formula and finally switched us to this. We have come to the conclusion that she is going to spit up no matter what. It didn't stop her gas problems and it seemed like she was hungry right after she finished eating. She usually eats 6 ounces and is quite happy but not with this stuff. It doesn't seem to fill her up at all and she still spits up anyway! We just decided to give her formula that makes her full. At least she isn't upset.
...

When my son was first born he was crying all of the time, gassy and was having some serious digestion issues. We tried soy based formula thinking he was allergic to milk and the crying and pain, and gas did not subside. A doctor reccomended Similac Alimentum and another alternative, due to my sons newly diagnosed milk and soy protien allergy. We tried teh alternative (enfamil, nutramigen) and my son was still in pain and crying all of the time. We tried the Similac Alimentum and within 48 hours he was fine. He was a happy baby. If your baby has colic, or a milk or soy allergy this formula is great. I would try the powder because of the fact that the formula is expensive, the cans of formula last longer and make more bottles compared to the premade containers of formula. The powder can is a better value, and worht the price. Another con is that smells very bad, but the smell is insignificant if it is the only thing that nourishes your baby.
...

my baby was a preemie 1 pound 15 ounces when he came home he was 5 pounds and used the similac alamentum formula his weight did nothing but increase on it . he did very little spitting up . he had acid reflux so i was surprised he kept so much down and slept pretty well. my mother said the smell was so much better than when my brother used similac 30 years ago but it was still stinky . alamentum is one of the more expensive formulas twenty dollars a can but i couldnt breast feed so there was no choice i used the powder and it was easy to use .it kept him from getting a bowel infection that premmies are more likely to get when he first came home was highly recommended by the neonatal drs.a lot of people make remarks on the smell but with a baby that small you can get used to it this was a great product to use and made my sons it much easier to digest it is kind of a pre-digested formula
...

My son started going through some very bad tummy issues at 3 weeks of age. I was sure it was colic. I took him to the doctor ( after dealing with days of crying for 8 hours straight), and our pediatrician recommended Similac Alimentum. It has worked wonders!!! My little guy no longer has tummy troubles, and is just a happy baby! The down side to the formula is that it is very pricey, and it smells terrible! Really, baby's breath will be BAD if you use this product! I've looked for Alimentum online, and you can buy it on e-bay much cheaper than you could paying retail. I would also recommend signing up on the Similac Strong Moms website.
...
