When my 3.5 year old was 1 year old, we were told that we should try Signing Time Videos. I was desperately trying to teach my "baby" sign language and although she was getting some signs, I was getting rather frustrated. I tried the videos and LOVED them. We bought the 3 first videos and she would watch them every day. I must admit, my child is very stubborn and she still does not do the signs that she was taught from these videos but she knows what they mean, so if I do the sign, she knows what I'm saying to her. I think that the videos did help enforce the signs that I was trying to teach at the time (Milk, Please, thank you, more, etc). Now, she is trying to help her sister learn sign language and I am just getting ready to dig out these videos again. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to teach their children sign language. They are very interactive, they show other kids toddler age who are doing the signs, and I think that the fact some of the kids...

Signing times is fabulous! My daughter and son love the DVD's. My daughter continually reinforces signs to help her younger brother (who is autistic and does not speak well) communicate. What a wonderful educational experience for the entire family!

My two year old grandson is proficient in his learning due to Signing Times. He has no hearing losses but is learning his colors and signs thanks to these delightful fun learning videos. Each video is packed full of Fun songs that help reinforce the topic of each great video. It is a great learning tool for kids of all ages. ...

I am so grateful for being introduced to these DVD's. I have a 2 1/2 year old son who is in speech therapy, and gets really frustrated when we dont understand what he wants. He is very behind.
Hi speech therapist recommended that he learns some simple signs just to be able to express himself in easy ways.
In 4 days he has learned about 10 new signs, like, drink, more, milk, dog, cat, water, eat, and fish. He is brand new to signing and it is great! We are having to practice with him, but the dvds are very easy to follow and fun! All of my kids have started watching. I am not sure on the price, because we checked them out from our local library.

My wife and children watch Signing Time every Sunday at 7:00am. We are not a hearing impared family, but we enjoy learning the new language. My wife works at a Middle School and she has been able to use some of the things that she has learned from Signing Time to communicate with parents and students. This is a fun, interactive program that is not only an educational tool that children will like, but adults will enjoy as well.

The co-founder of Signing Time, Rachel Coleman created the show when she discovered that her daughter, Leah, was deaf. Rachel also has another daughter, Lucy who has spina bifida and cerebral palsy. Together, Rachel and her sister Emilie, created this wonderful teaching tool that features Rachel, her daughter Leah and her nephew Alex.

I have 3 kids and i started off young with each of them teaching them signs
as a young child somewhat baby so that they have a means of speaking with us and
others as well.. this cd set really helped to get them there

my now 6 1/2yr old son i started on these with him at 4mths teaching him
things like milk drink eat food more
my now 4yr old son i also tought and started showing him signs when he was about 9mths old
i waited with him a little because he doesnt just sit down to learn stuff
so i really had to act it all out with him
and Our daughter is just 6mths old and gets how to sign More and eat she at 6mths will put her hand to her mouth for eat its SOOO cute!

Signing Time is a fun, wonderful way to learn how to sign. It has enough repetition to retain new signs and it brings out a creative side to everyone. It allows for communication for everyone....

These are very well done. It eliminates much of the frustration of not understanding what you little one wants before verbal communication is in. Easier to communicate through signs and the words and voices help with word recognition as well. Our grandchildren are not hearing impaired but it is of great benefit for them and by watching them we are also learning and able to communicate with others who are hearing impaired.

I thought I was too old to learn sign language but with the DVD's it is even easy for a grandparent. My grandchildren ask for them every day. What a worthwhile program for them to watch on television.

Educational, Smart, Friendly, Family Fun!

Signing Time and Signing Time Series Two are Awesome!

Signing helps unleash you and your child's brain power.

It's absolutely fascinating to watch your child learn so much in just a thirty-minute show.

I have almost 2 complete sets. I do not have Happy Birthday from Series Two.

All the others are great, though. The gift sets usually come with a sing-and-sign along CD to listen to throughout the day. This reinfoces what you saw on the DVD. These tunes are catchy and they are sung beautifully. A lot of kid's songs are annoying, but Rachel Coleman can really sing!

I only wish her own daughter, Leah - a signing time star, could hear her mother's beautiful voice.

Your family will feel invited right into Rachel and Leah's family to learn signing in a wonderful way!

Enjoy it!

True, the videos can be pricey, but the signingtime website has great deals when you buy multiples and you can go in "halfsies" with a friend to get several DVDs .

I was turned on to Signing Time by a friend when my daughter was an infant. We weren't planning on having her watch any TV for a year, but after seeing this, we started putting it on (the very first one, when Rachel had long hair!) one a week or so. We started when she was about 9 months, and after she turned one, we found more DVD's at the library.

I started doing signs and she started a little after her fist birthday. Signing became a huge part of our communication and a lot of the fun we had together. She watched a Signing Time DVD at least once a day (we strayed from our no tv rule a bit!). After a while, she started signing things out of the blue that totally took us off guard. Things that she'd been watching for months, but never signed and she'd whip 'em out while we were in the car or something. So great!

Even after she started talking a lot, she kept signing. It's been a year or so since we've watched any (she's 3 now), and she doesn't remember most of the signs,......

This series is great we got it from the library and then watched it on PBS. Now we own the wole thing. We have learned a lot and like to review them all the time. They are funny and fun. I have loanded them to friends several time and now they are hooked too....

Signing Time is a wonderful series, created by the talented Rachel Coleman. I use these videos in my Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes to reinforce the signs I am teaching the children. (We use ASL on a daily basis in our hearing classroom to build literacy skills.) The children (and I, their teacher) love these dvds! Each one is created to teach 2 to 3 dozen signs related to a specific theme. Watch Signing Time with Alex and Leah today!...

When my daughter began signing at home, I asked her babysitter if they had been learning it at her house. She said that they watched Signing Time on PBS each day. I was curious, so I caught an episode one morning. What fun it is! Kids learn so well when they are taught through song. I even learned a few signs from my first experience with the show. This is such a valuable tool for learning.
