Chukesh29 says "Vrey revealing and disturbing" about Sicko

I'm not a fan of Micheal Moore but this is one the best exposee films of a lifetime. Sicko takes a hard look at healthcare in America under the George W. Bush administration. And in this writers opinion the worst administration in history. By allowing healthcare and other big industries to go unchecked in the name of "fighting terror" the very people who risked their lives for this country are being tossed aside for money.

Sicko is the only thing on film that tells a true story of what is happening in America with the "Healthcare System." This film tells the truth unlike the local biased news it educates the watcher on money and the value of human life. Only in America are people charged more money than their homes for life saving medicine.

If you like to hear the truth then this is a film for you.

Sorry it is not pretty, but sometimes the truth is hard to see. Not only has my family been destroyed by catastropic health care costs, but many I know also have lost everything.

Most never think it could/would happen to them.

If congressmen and other polititions were middle class like many of us, and they did not have their health insurance paid by us, they absolutly would support single payer public health.

See how the lies many are spreading about "The Public Option" ring hollow when compared to other industralized countries. Let this movie be a beginning to further your knowlege regarding these crucial issues.

Big Bussiness hates Micheal Moore for a reason, don't you think?
...

Re: "SICKO"

I'm a 32 year old retail worker. I've been employed since I could start working at 15. Through the years, I've worked my butt off, chasing that "more than minimum" dream. When college is too expensive for a lower income family to afford, and you don't think paying off thousands of dollars worth of loans sounds that appealing, what's there to do, but the best you CAN do?

For me, that's struggling through a lifetime of mind-numbing, laborious low-wage jobs, hoping to finally be noticed and appreciated someday.

So, need I remind you, that these days, most cruddy jobs don't include benefits? No, benefits, no health insurance. Without health insurance, you live on a wing and a prayer, begging the Mistress Fate to keep you fit and fair.

If I were to get the flu right now (you know, the throwing-up, can't-get-out-of-bed, wish you were dead kind?), I'd miss two, three, maybe more days of work. That's half my paycheck! I don't get sick days. But, on the other hand, it could...
...

I cannot possibly know how Michael Moore actually managed to get awards from this obvious one sided, politically skewed, fabrication of a "documentary".

Of course our medical insurance problem is an obvious concern for most Americans but this man actually tries to convince his audience that CUBA has a better health care system than in the United States of America! All one has to do is read up on the corrupt Cuban government to realize what a fallacy Michael Moore's so called "facts" really are. He even goes on to make Canada and France seem like a heaven on earth when it comes to health care. Again if one would actually read the facts one can easily realize how such a large portion of Canadians and French pay in the form of Taxes goes directly to their universal health care. Michael Moore attempts to trick the viewer into thinking these countries provide FREE healthcare to all their citizens. One thing is for sure. NOTHING is FREE. These people get put on waiting lists...
...

I truly enjoyed watching Michael Moore's new Movie "Sicko. As always Michael Moore is right on the mark. This is a must see for everyone. Coming from a country that has socialized medicine I can assure you that the facts are true.

Michael Moore is extreme, as always, when he takes the patients that can not get medical help in the United States to Cuba, but I know that is what it takes to get the message across to the American people.

It is outstanding!!!
...

After watching Sicko I found myself wondering how people can swallow these statements of fiction as factual. Does anybody wonder how they just sailed into Cuba with no questions, received such great care and were hailed by the fire fighters association? I am wondering, in a country where the people can, just now, "stay in hotels", what questions this new right might bring up about the great health care they receive. Also, interesting that the fire fighters just knew they were there. Smelled of set-up to me. Secondly, after just reading about the Canadian health care system in a Canadian magazine, I am wondering why they are not as positive and upbeat as the one American woman who crossed the border and received instant, wonderful care. It seems residents have to be on a waiting list. This mocumentary smacked of set-ups and deception aimed at making the U.S. look bad and the non-democratic countries look sweet. I like my documentaries to share facts, not one man's fiction. ......

Sicko is Michael Moore's best movie to date. It shows a lot of growth and maturity on his part. While he makes use of guerrilla muckraking in his other films, he limits his screen time in Sicko to mainly the narration. This film is a scathing indictment of the American Health Care System.
...

Sicko is a great documentary by Michael Moore that takes a look into the United States health care system, along with those people that do and do not have it. While Moore usually has a political side to previous movies, SICKO is a move that applies to all people no matter what political beliefs one has. This movie makes one realize how flawed the U.S.'s system really is. See this movie!...

gianetti says "I cried through this whole movie" about Sicko

I like Michael Moore. I think he seems like a super caring guy. I have watched all his documentaries & while yes he probably leans toward his view point you can't change facts. He could make fun of Pres. Bush in Farenheit 911 because Bush gave him the material to. I believe the facts to be true in Sicko also & this is why I cried from the beginning to the end of this movie. It is awful that we live in such a rich country with so many great attributes & yet this kind of thing goes on here. We are such a generous & big-hearted nation. Just look at how quickly we rally to help others in need such as the tsunami victims (etc). But we can't help our own people. I blame this on the people in our government. It appears to me that they are perfectly willing to accept the great health care that we provide them but don't care if we have it. I believe that this country would be so much better if we all had healthcare & no one had to worry if they were going to be denied life-saving......
