Kulishomemakeovers says "Sherwin Williams Paint Rocks!" about Sherwin Williams Paint

I am a painting contractor, the owner of Kulis Home Makeovers here in Hot Springs Arkansas. When it comes to painting my "high end" homes, I always choose Sherwin Williams products. THe SW paint really flows and covers well. I recently remodeled a 1950's Ranch Home across from Hot Springs Country Club. I used some really "loud colors" like Orange, Bright Yellow and Bright Blue. I first used the Sherwin Williams Wall and Wood Primer, then covered with 2 coats of color. THe boys at the SW store custom mixed primers to match each of my "loud colors". Since I was painting over white walls, the custome matched pimers really made the topcoats stand out even further. Congrats to The Sherwin William staff in Hot Springs, always very helpful!

LoveisJoy says "Sherwin Williams Paint - Cozy Colors and Subtle Sheen" about Sherwin Williams Paint

When my husband and I decided to have our living room painted, our contractor suggested using Sherwin Williams Paint. Since I'm a big fan of Behr paint, I had never tried Sherwin-Williams before. We went with his recommendation, and we are quite pleased with the results.

After viewing an enormous fan deck of available colors, I narrowed it down to two light neutrals. We drove over to the closest Sherwin-Williams store and headed straight to the color wall, which was well lit. I looked at my paint choices in both the store light and the sunlight coming through the windows. Since I was still unsure, my husband asked the clerk if we could get a small sample of each contender. Unfortunately, it's not possible to get the small samples that are available with brands like Glidden and Valspar. Still, we bought a couple of quarts so I could test them out before committing to a final color.

I found that Sherwin Williams paint covers fairly well, though I didn't think it covered...
...

tennesseegirl says "Sherwin Williams Pro Classic Paint is durable!" about Sherwin Williams Paint

Sherwin Williams pro classic water based paint is a wonderful alternative to oil-based paints. I have used it for many things including painting kitchen cabinets. It stands the test of time even in this high traffic area. It is my go to paint choice for furniture, trim, and cabinets. I constantly recommend it to friends and family. Not only is it durable, it also doesn't show brush strokes which is a huge bonus for water based paints. It is a bit more expensive but worth every penny.

When you are using it, it dries quickly and you cannot go back over it to do touch ups until the paint is dry. It may take a bit of time getting used to the way this paint works but you won't be sorry if you try it! Because it covers so well, there is not always a need to do a second coat which ends up saving you time and money.

Because the paint is water based, it creates quick application and easy clean up.
...

amg1030 says "doesn't clean well" about Sherwin Williams Paint

About two years ago, my husband and I decided that our house needed to be repainted. The contractor who did the work highly recommended Sherwin Williams paint. Since I thought that paint was basically paint, I agreed without looking into it too much. Well, that was a mistake. I have two children which means that there is a lot of handprints on the walls. The first time I tried to wipe the walls clean, I was in shock! The dirt did not come off. There are a few marks on the wall where my kids' toys have banged into them and those marks did not come off either. Now, I look at my walls and just cringe because I can't seem to get them clean! When we have the house painted again, I will surely not be using Sherwin Williams paint. I will say, in their defense, that they had a ton of colors to choose from and I really liked the colors I chose, especially Potentionally Purple, which is the color of my daughter's room. Overall, I am not impressed with the quality of the paint.
...

I read these reviews and one of them is quite funny. It states that SW paint is thin, and it is not at all. It is actually thicker than most brands out there. It also said it was impossible to match the paint to the first gallon purchased. This obviously incorrect because at SW every color has an exact formula which makes it easy to copy a previous gallon. I know all this for a fact because I work at Sherwin Williams. I have tried cheaper paint and it is distinctly different from our paint. The Duration is particularly my favorite. It has low odor and VOCs which means it is better for the environment. It also covers beautifully in one coat! I covered dark green walls that were stained with only ONE coat of the Interior Duration Home paint! Even though Duration is pricey and goes for about $45, it is worth it in the long run. It turned out fantastic. I would DEFINITELY choose Sherwin Williams.
...

It may cost more, but in the long run it's worth every penny. Great coverage, easy to clean, and so many, many colors to choose from. My house now has almost every room done with Sherwin Williams paint. Have a few left to paint yet and it will be done with this great paint.
...

I have tried just about every type of paint on the market today, and this is by far the worst brand out there! It is nearly impossible to get a second gallon to match up to what I bought earlier. It never touches up. It is also very watered down. Even cheap paint from K-Mart didn't run off the wall like Sherwin Williams did. The sales reps are always trying to push their high end paint, and it sucks just as bad as their lower end paint. Want a good value for your money? Ditch Sherwin Williams and try Valspar from Lowes....

I love the gallon containers, they are the easiest to keep clean and the paint will stay fresher when you have left over paint. The lid will not stick so you can open it again and again without damaging the lid. It is the right consistency, thickness, and coverage. I cannot say enough about how high quality this paint is. The coverage is wonderful, so that saves time and money, not having to apply a second coat.
...

After doing some extensive research, I found out that Dutch Boy paint is made by Sherwin Williams. Our local Wal-Mart sells the Dutch Boy product so I have decide to give it a try. I have bought Sherwin Williams paint before and it is a little pricey but well worth it. So, I am going to paint a unused bedroom with the Dutch boy brand to see how it compares with Sherwin Williams. The Dutch Boy paint costs about $16.00 per gallon, while the Sherwin Williams was about $25.00 per gallon (Hey, $9.00 is $9.00). Wish me luck! I will post the results as soon as I get to painting. ...
