My younger brother lives in Chicago and I go to the Shedd Aquarium each time I visit. I really like it that much. The best part is the enormous dolphin tank. The show is also very entertaining. The restaurant was enjoyable as well. I have taken my children there since they were very young and the thoughly enjoyed each and every visit.

This was the first place we went on our trip to Chicago, where my husband is from. It was so much fun, it is a beautiful place. Make sure to look up as you walk in. The tiles are so awesome. Everyone was nice. The dolphin show was great.

This is a really great place to go on any day. It has a beatutiful new remodel and there are so many fn and educational options inside the Shed Aquarium. I would recommend it to anyone needing fun. It is a very good day to spend with friends. if you are a scuba diver they will let you come help feed and clean the fish. I also have a friend who really enjoys going and teaching children about fish and wildlife. During the remodel they shipped teh whales and sharks to different zoos but I think that they are all back now.

Our recent visit to the Shedd Aquarium was with two grandchildren, one 15 and one 8, It was a free day for families, although we did not know that when we planned our visit. We learned it at the entrance to the facility. We also learned that there is a charge for certain "special" exhibits. Last time there, several years ago, we loved the dolphin show. So, we put up $23 for the four of us to see the dolphin show.

To end suspense, let me say right up front that the Shedd is a fabulous experience at any price. More about that later in this review.

First, about the dolphin show. Not there. We didn't know it but the dolphin show venue was being renovated and the dolphins were temporarily not in residence.

We only learned about this, however, from the third staff member we asked for directions to the show. The first staffer we asked was downright rude in her response. The second confessed ignorance about the question. The third told us that the exhibit was closed. She added that we could use our......

we had such a great time at the aquarium. the staff was great with the toddlers in our group and everyone, adults included, loved the dolphin show. my only suggestion would be to increase the quality of the food court downstairs. it wasnt very clean....

The Shedd has a great story and history, but once you (over)pay the admission fee and step inside, it seems much smaller than it did when you were outside. The cool stuff, like the dolphins, require an additional fee, which was a surprise to us during the "free admission" days.

While the dolphin show was great (better than the one at Sea World, in my opinion), the rest of the aquarium was a little boring. I felt like I'd seen most of the things on display elsewhere - at the zoo or at other aquariums. There were a few things that stood out, like the seahorse tubes, but aside from that, I can't really remember anything else. Which is not the sign of a good museum.

The cafeteria is also overpriced, but everyone know that when they have you hostage, of course the food is overpriced.

Oh OK, the only times that I had set for here was on school trips.And I loved it. I like the way all these different creaters looked. Now that Im a mother , aND The money thing is not a issue, and there is time of course, I like taking kids. I want them to see and explore new things. It can be expensive thou. So im usually online finding out when theres discount or free days.But is a really nice place to visit. And after your done take a walk aound the Lake Michigan or even Down Town, If you love taking pictures, this are the places to go and see.If your from the are show your ID for a discount....

The Shedd Aquiarum is a fantastic place to spend a day. I highly recommend going as soon as they open in the morning to avoid large crowds and leave after lunch when it does get crowded.

The marine mammal presentation is wonderful and educational. The Lizards exhibit should not be missed, especially to see the Komodo Dragron!

There are always programs going on in the galleries on the main level for all ages and interpreters walking the floors to answer your questions.

The Wild Reef is amazing because of the numbers and varieties of fish in the tanks. There are some great touch screens there as well which allow visitors to look up information on the fish.

A wonderful way to spend the day. Be sure to eat lunch in the cafeteria or bring your own. A great view can be had there by the lake as you eat.

I went to the aquarium during the week that the admission was free and it was well worth the trip. I took all four of my children and they still have not stopped talking about it. The food is expensive so we didnt eat there, but there were affordable things in the gift shop. Plan a trip to visit soon....

We recently went to Soundings, the restaurant at the Shedd, and loved it! The views were spectacular - 360 degrees of floor to ceiling windows overlooking Lake Michigan. It was kid friendly (with goldfish crackers as snacks instead of bread) but yet upscale and made me feel like I had actually gone out somewhere fancy. The food was good and reasonably priced with interesting seasonal options.

The negatives were the inconsistent answers we received by the Shedd staff as to whether admission to the museum was required or not even if you were just going to the restaurant. Some of our dinner guests were told they did not have to pay admission but we were told the opposite. Also, it was a bit of a hoof to get to the restaurant once in the museum and confusing navigating the museum. I wish there was a direct entrance into the restaurant or at least better signage on how to find it.

Okay, so I love museums. And, hence, my kids go to LOTS of them-- and now they love them too... wink!

Because we are entering winter season, I stocked up on our museum memberships. It gives us a lot of variety for the winter (when it is too cold to walk outside) and it gives us a quilt-free lifestyle. What I mean is this...we pay the $100 upfront and then we visit at our leisure. If we visit for a 1/2 hour, I dont care. If we pop in for 10 minutes, I dont care. We are members. I dont feel the quilt of spending $60 to get in, and then leave immediately after! (it happens when you have little ones!)
