Overalll the select comfort bed is wonderful. I like being able to adjust

the firmness according to my daily needs, sometimes soft other times firm.

I also love the fact that my spouse can do the same as we never agree

on the firmness!

I have rheumatoid arthritis and broke my back in two places. My Sleep Number is the only mattres that provides comfort.

My husband and I have different ideas on what a comfortable bed should be. Personally I love my old mattress, it's firm with a pillow top. He prefers something softer. So we figured the sleep number bed would be great for us...WRONG!!!!

The best way to describe what it's like and even give you a chance to try it out for much less is to sleep on an air mattress (you know, the ones you sleep on while camping!) the more you spend the more padding you get to put on top of the air mattress so to test this out add lots of foam and fluffy blankets to see if it helps. However when we first called in to complain about the feel of the bed they told us to put the foam padding UNDER the air pads!!!! OK, we did and it did NOT help. Sure when your trying it out in the store your on the best product they have and there is someone there telling you that "This is your number!" Our numbers were not comfortable in our own home!

Also, the machine pumps air in the bed all night long to keep it at your number...I...

I was in a car accident a few years ago and received severe back damage as a result of the accident. Because of ongoing back pain, my old springy mattress was painful at best to sleep on so I had to find a better sleep solution. My husband and I had previously visited Select Comfort and tried out their beds and had considered getting one. After the accident, a new mattress was a must. To make sleeping matters worse, I often have difficulty getting to and staying asleep. I took the dive and purchased the Select Comfort mattress. It was shipped to my house and super easy to set up, did all by myself in less than an hour. That night I had the best sleep I had had in years! I adjusted the air mattress to the lower number and it was like sleeping on a cloud. My husband who was against the purchase, because of the cost, feel in love - I mean this man raved about the quality of sleep he got from it. My back pain has all but vanished in the few years of sleeping on this amazing mattress and I sleep...

Soooo comfortable! Hey, you literally are "sleeping on air"! It make be steep in the cost range, but is ever so worth it for the comfortability, conformity to the body, and the great restful sleep you get!

I love that you can adjust the firmnes of the mattress chamber to conform to your body's needs and wants for the perfect sleep everytime! My husband and I both have different sleep numbers and it works great as I like a firmer mattress for posture purposes.

It is also easy, but a little time consuming, to take apart the bed when it needs a cleaning. You have to take it apart one step at a time.

These beds last many years without having to replace parts unless there is an accident that may occur. Hopefully this won't happen, as the parts are very sturdy, but if it does, the parts are really not cheap!

I recommend this bed for those who don't have younger children who might want to play on the bed.

This is absolutely the best bed I have ever slept on! I had a standard mattress and thought it was great, then My husband I had a water bed previous to this and we thought we loved it....no way! We both love the fact that we can have two types of mattresses in one! He is a back sleeper and I am side sleeper, so we can adjust each of our sides accordingly. And- if one night your back is sore or you wake up with stiff back, you can just adjust the bed one way or the other the next night.

The only con is that if the power goes out- When the power comes back on, the air pump makes some clicking noises.

We were able to get a great financing deal- no payments/interest for several months.

The bed arrived very quickly and my husband easily put it together. After we did some remodel we had no trouble when we had to move it from one room to the next.

I almost hate going on vacation or to the in-laws lake house as I know the beds are never like my Sleep Number at home!

I have one of these beds and i love it. I like how u can take it apart to replace parts instead of the whole bed. I never wake up sore like i use to on a really spring bed so i love the Select Comfort bed.

I had a softside waterbed for sixteen years until it finally wore out with all the moves. We decided to try the memory foam mattress and paid $1400.00 for just the mattress no box spring. Well that mattress is now in our shed wrapped in plastic and we went out and purchased a Select Comfort Sleep Number mattress. When we finally found our "perfect numbers" we have never sleep better since we gave up the water bed. We no longer wake up in the middle of the night having to pull ourselves out of the hole to move like we did with the memory foam. Our back aches are all but gone and having a choice from one night to the next is fabulous! This is the closest thing to the waterbed we have ever found and even better. The Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed is so much easier to move and make I would never go back.

If you have any type of pain or a sleep disorder, this bed is the best choice. The Select Comfort Sleep Number 5000 allows you to adjust it as often as needed according to your comfort level that particular day. It doesn't press back into you like a typical inner spring mattress. I have a chronic pain condition and I cannot imagine sleeping on any other bed! It comes in twin to king (california king) and you can even get a split king if you need an adjustable frame. It has a battery back up that allows you to place the bed flat again if the power goes out. The pump that controls the firmness of the mattress has a valve that prevents it from going flat if the power goes out. You can't change the firmness until the power comes back on, but it won't go flat.

We got our Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed 5000 in 2004, when it was basically the top of the line. We had been sleeping on a full-size regular pillowtop matress for years. After much research, we decided on the queen-size with a Deluxe Sleep Number Firmness Control System. We have been and are very happy with it. My sleep number has gone up and down in the years. It's great to have a bed that can adjust to you! Sometimes I have gone up or down 10 numbers in one day.

My husband also loves it. My pets love it. Visiting relatives take it over. You get the picture. The warranty is a plus also. We are currently having an issue with one of the chambers slowly leaking out and they are being really helpful and taking care of it.

There is a narrow gap between the two chambers. There is a piece of foam stuck in there. In me and my husband's experience, it is not bothersome. But it is there and the level to which it would bother someone is completely personal. I would use the free trial and not...

I am so dissapointed with this sleep number 5000 pillowtop bed. I bought it in June of 2005 and within the first two years I noticed ripping on the foam pad and also when I lifted up the pillowtop it is also ripping and sagging. I am always rolling to the center of the bed, thats a flaw right there!!! Very poorly constructed, I slept better on a $50.00 air bed.I will be writing a letter to the CEO of the company in Minneapolis, MN. I hope everyone that reads this review and also had problems with the ripping of the pad and pillowtop will also send a letter to the CEO.

Sleep Number Bed Testimonial

I purchased a queen size sleep number bed, Personal Preference 4PT in January 2003 from Sleep Train Mattress Centers in the east bay of San Francisco, CA.

I was experiencing back pain and soreness and stiffness in the morning. I paid $1,980.00 for the bed which was a good deal more than I would have paid for a traditional mattress and box spring set. I looked forward to finally getting a good night's sleep.

Unfortunately, I discovered that the bed had a serious design flaw. The two inflatable air bladders are not connected together which causes a gap in the center of the bed. The gap is large enough that when a person moves toward the center of the bed they fall into the gap. Once you are in the crevice it is difficult to get out of. So, I often found myself waking in the middle of the night, sore and uncomfortable from being stuck in the gap.

The problem of the gap became apparent soon after I purchased the bed and I contacted the Sleep Train store...

The Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed is the best invention ever made! After several weeks of trying to find a mattress that would suit both my husband and my own sleeping needs, we happened to wander into a Select Comfort store.The duel controls let you choose the firmness of each side of the mattress, which makes for wonderful sleeping. I like a softer Sleep Number-35 while my husband likes a firmer Sleep Number of 85. I have commended the Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed and pillows to everyone. It is a sensational product, and our 8 year old son also loves his!
