One of the most common complaints about this mattress is the fact that it can develop a "ditch" or "trench" when both sides are raised to the firmest settings. I am one of these folks. The mattres is an AIR mattress, in fact two of them. I dare anyone to have 2 airmattresses side by side and negate this effect sufficiently to render the bed usable. These issues grow more aggrevated as the bed ages. Don't post "I love my bed" until it has aged a bit. A 20 year mattress my foot.

I have had back problems since I was pregnant and gave birth to my son. I was on bed rest in the hospital for 3 months and this bed has helped alleviate all of my back pain. I could never sleep on another bed. Even my mother-in law got one.

We bought our Select Comfort 3000 bed a few years ago, and it has its ups and downs. Like some other reviewers have noted, there is an obvious break in the middle of the bed, and it is really noticeable if one of you likes a lower number than the other. We bought a 2" memory foam topper from Overstock for about $50 (extremely on sale) and it seems to have alleviated this problem a bit. I must say that I was recently pregnant, and the feel of the Sleep Number bed was so much better compared to our old inner spring bed. So truly mixed--it's great but needs a bit of adding to it to make it perfect.

I do agree with some others who have said that "fun" in bed is a bit limited. Not terrible but limited. You have to pick a side, so to speak, because otherwise you get a bit of a surprise falling onto one side or the other. We have managed well enough, but it is noticeable. One other complaint is that it is very loud to inflate and you can wake the other person if you choose to do so.

I sleep grate now and so is my husband. For the longest time we both had back pane and are Bed was so uncomfortable. We wanted to get a good bed but just couldin't alford it . We looked and looked for something we could get that was in are budget. We where in the mall and we seen the "Sleep Number Store". I looked at my husband and said to him (we are going in there). He said (ok but i no this is not going to be in are budget). So we when't in and Shir enough we came out and we had are bed.

We got the bed ( Feb.15,2009 )And let me tell you it was the best thing we could of dune.

Now when you get the Sleep Number 3000 Bed you need to put it together. Or you can spend a little more and have them put it together for you . But if I where you I would just do it your self it is not hard at all.

And if you want to spend a little les on the bed .Then don't get the Digital sleep...

I purchased a select number sleep bed 3000, a couple years ago and have hated it ever since I got it. The stupid air chambers keep breaking and customer service keeps sending me the wrong parts. What a mess. I would never recommend this bed to anyone. Like other customer compliants, there is a big sinkhole in the middle of the bed and I am constantly waking up in the sinkhole. My back and arms have never hurt so bad. Please do not spend your hard earned money on this crappy bed. I want to throw it in the dump. I can't believe I am still paying for this stupid bed. I spent over 3000.00 on a piece of shit. My couch is more comfortable than this bed. It has gotten so bad, I need to go out today and get a new mattress. When I see the commercials on TV I get so angry I change the channel. As I stated before, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS TERRIBLE BED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comfort Sleep Number Bed 3000 is the really something well worth investing in. It will last a lifetime. To me, a lifetime worth of good sleep is one of the most important things that I can do for my health. I know by health standards it is requested that everyone should get 8 hours of sleep a night. With this bed, it is so easy to do because one just falls asleep almost instantly.

This bed is GREAT for a couple who like different levels of firmness/softness in a mattress. This way, each person can adjust to their own comfort level. Also, since you can always add more air, you don't develop a "dent" like you would with a spring mattress. The ability to adjust firmness is nice if you need it to be different once in a while (you hurt your back and need more support, extra support during pregnancy) without having to buy a whole new mattress. It is very durable too, our dogs are off and on the bed all of the time and we have had no problems. You do have to reinflate it once every few days, especially in the winter.

the select comfort was sold to us in one of the mall stores. at the time of the sale, she said that the bed came with a ten year warranty.NOT. after four years, there was mold on the inside of the pillowtop foam , and the pump died.the air mattresses do not stay inflated and select comfort then tells you the warranty is actually good for one year. so for the three thousand dollars for this bed i should have bought a normal sealy. or many normal sealys for the price. never again, i give this bed a one star out of 50. and select comfort gets a big fat zero. and someone should start a class action law suit on their warranty policy.

This bed is great cause I don't always like my bed to be the same amount of firm, sometimes I want a softer bed. With this bed you can have what ever you want. My husband always wants a very firm bed and that is way to hard on my back. I think everyone should try this bed. They won't go back to a regular mattress.

My husband and I decided to get a Sleep Number bed before we got married because I prefer soft mattresses while he prefers a firm mattress. Although the 3000 is the lowest quality model, the price was still a bit ridiculous (about $2000...) This bed is pretty much a glorified air mattress. After only a few months, it got the 'hole' in the middle that a normal spring mattress gets after years and years of use. It is very irritating because we are always rolling towards the middle. Not only that, on the inside of the bed there is a divider wall in between the two separate air chambers. The only thing in between you and that divider is the 'mattress pad' that covers the air chambers. We've since purchased another mattress pad and it does help make the bed comfortable.

We have moved a few times since getting the bed, and moving the Select Comfort bed is much more tedious than moving a typical spring mattress. If you move the whole thing, it is heavier than a typical mattress, and it also has...

My husband and I were newlyweds sleeping on his mattress set that was quite old...and worn. It was more than evident (after many many sleepless nights) that we needed a new bed set up. We had seen the advertisement on tv for the sleep number bed and know a few couples that love theirs. We went to the Select Comfort store where we got an idiot of a sales rep...however were in heaven the moment we laid down. Finally a bed that we could both be comfortable with. I could have a soft setting, my husband could have a bit firmer.... Sounds great huh? Of course while we're in the store buying our bed we have 2 sales reps. gaining up on us with other "needed" products. In all we spent $2,900 for the King sized 3000 model, mattress pad, mattress topper, true silver mattress topper, 2 pillows (one firm one soft), 2 pillow protectors, 2 true silver pillow protectors, and one Sit and Read pillow with case. We're obviously suckers I know! They were running some special...purchase X amount of bedding...

I LOVE my Sleep Number 3000 bed! I am the type of person that NEVER wants to come home from a trip, however, since getting our new bed I can not wait to come home because I can't get comfortable in anything but my sleep number! I have not had to go to the chiropractor for a year and a half now. I used to have to go once a month or I would be in so much pain that I wouldn't be able to get out of bed without feeling like I got hit by a mack truck! I love the fact that my husband can chose how hard or soft that he wants his bed and it doesn't interfere with the firmness that I want for my bed. The other thing that I love is that there sheets are so soft and they don't come off because they have this huge pocket that keeps them tucked under the mattress. I have not had to make my bed except for when I have washed the sheets. Normal sheets that I have had I end up putting the fitted sheet back on the bed every night before I go to bed because we are such movers in our sleep! ...

The Sleep Number bed 3000 was well worth our money. We got the queen sized, pillow top mattress with dual control. When my hubby and I got married we argued about a soft verses hard mattress. He thought he needed a herd one and I thought I wanted it soft. When we found this bed, we were in for a big shock. I was the one who wanted it firmer and he sleeps in what looks like a hole on his side of the bed. It has shown us exactly what we each need to have a fabulous night's rest. We would not trade this for anything. It was pricey, but they even have lay away, which is what we did. Once we got our mattress we were very satisfied!

We bought this bed about 3 years ago. My only regret about it is that we didn't buy it when I was pregnant. It would've been a Godsend then.

A couple of caveats:

As another reviewer mentioned, there is a piece of foam separating both sides of the bed. Along with the fact that both my husband and I end up with a hammock like concavity in our sides of the bed, this higher lump of foam makes cuddling impossible. One thing we did do was invest in a 2 inch memory foam mattress topper for about $150 (Costco) and that seems to have smoothed out that feeling of the center lump somewhat. I imagine upgrading to the Sleep Number mattresses that have the memory foam topper on them to begin with eliminates the need for this, but even with paying $150 for the topper, we still saved a substantial amount of $$ buying the 3000 model vs. the higher priced models with the memory foam. Still, to really cuddle, I need to raise my sleep number so that I have a firmer (and higher) surface to...
