The Instinct HD has a trim candy bar shape that's larger than both the original Instinct and the Instinct S30. The curves and smooth angles give it an appealing shape and we like the simple silver and black color scheme. What's more, we welcome the extra heft (4.63 inches by 2.29 inches by 0.5 inch; 4.01 ounces) as it gives the phone a solid and comfortable feel in the hand. The Instinct HD also travels well in a pocket or a bag.

The 3.2-inch display isn't any bigger than on the S30, but it supports more colors (16 million hues) and it has a richer resolution (480x320 pixels). You'll notice the upgrade immediately; the colors are bright and vibrant and graphics pop right off the screen. Though 3.2 inches is just on the cusp of what we consider the minimum size for a touch screen, the Instinct HD's display is very easy on the eyes. You can adjust the brightness and the backlight time, but the small text size can't be changed.

The touch interface was quick and responsive when selecting items....
...

I was so excited when the Samsung Instinct came out but I had to wait a couple of months before I was able to buy it since my contract wasn't renewed yet. When I finally got it, it was great. It wasn't until a few months later when I realized that my dream phone really wasn't a dream. It constantly freezes on me when I am using the navigation, when I am texting it never types the letters i push but the ones beside it. Sometimes, the whole phone freezes and I can't use it. I thought it was great that it came with an extra battery since I like to talk a lot but didn't realize that there was an extra battery because they run out so fast. Use the GPS one time and it uses up all the battery life. Don't get it
...

The Samsung Instinct is by far the best cellular phone I have ever owned. I have been with Sprint for many years and have aways been satisfied with the service, however some of the phones I have owned were not the best. Phones I have owned in the past had many problems with the hardware and software. The Instinct has not had a single problem and I have owned it for over a year and a half. The phone it self is very user friendly, the full touch screen is very easy to navigate. There are three buttons that are set on the phone and are always there and are used for the same thing, they are the "Back Button", "Home Button", and "Phone Button". The "Back Button" is used for going back to the previous page and screen you were viewing, the "Home Button" Take you to your home page which consists of your favorite which is fully adaptable, and the "Phone Button" which takes you to your phone pages were you can make a call and check you history. The Samsung Instinct is a great phone and I have...
...

Not all the web pages come on and when on the web takes forever to login your accounts like 10 mintues it is so slow. I don't recommend it to anyone not even my worst enemie ....

governorgirl says "It was fun at first...but now seems outdated" about Samsung - Instinct Cell Phone

At first the Samsung Instinct by Sprint seemed like a great and more economical option to the IPhone and for the first 4 months or so it was. But a year into my service I am somewhat frustrated by its lack of applications and inability to quickly solve continual issues for basic programs such as voicemail. Here are a few of the biggest challenges I have had with day to day use.

1) If your face gets too close to the phone you will continually mute yourself and your friends will think you hung up on them.

2) If you don't delete your voicemails as soon as you get them or try to keep any saved, when you do try to delete them your phone will freeze and need to be "hard" booted back up. (ie, hold the button down and sometimes take the battery out)

3)While the phone does come with an extra battery that you can recharge which I LOVE-LOVE, the battery life after 2 months was down to about 2 hours of phone use or 2.5 batteries per day.

4)You will be continually bugged to update for "critical"......

I have had my Samsung Instinct for about a year now. It has so many features available with the Sprint network that it has been great for the price. Just about anything you could think of that you'd want to do with a phone, this does. My favorite feature is the large number display when you are entering a number. It also has a great navigation system included. I have found myself using it instead of my GPS. You can listen to music or watch TV on this phone, although the picture is sometimes choppy. There is bluetooth, a camera, calculator and stopwatch. Another neat feature is a tip calculator. The phone looks really nice and feels comfortable in your hand. I find it a little difficult to text, but I don't do that often. My biggest complaint about this phone is one I have never heard anyone else having. The cover for the charger is difficult to open. I usually leave it open because otherwise I need to use a credit card to pry it open. I thought it would get easier...
...

stephsteph82 says "room for improvements" about Samsung - Instinct Cell Phone

When the Samsung Incstinct came out shortly after the I-phone, I saw this as a way to have a touchscreen phone without having to switch phone companies. The price was a little heft at around $400, but I figured with the $100 mail in rebate, it wouldnt be so bad. Well, I have had to phone for 1 year and 1 month and have had it replaced twice and it's about ready to go again. The screen freezes and my pictures delete themselves every few days. The picture messaging often sends pictures that have not been on my phone in months and the battery doesnt seem to last longer than 4 hours. I like the phone itself, just wish some of its flaws would be fixed a little quicker!...

MN1023 says "The Samsung Instinct is not comparable to the iPhone." about Samsung - Instinct Cell Phone

The Samsung Instinct is in no way comparable to other touch screen or business phones, such as the iPhone. The Instinct is fine for texting, ocassional web browsing (which is not a fun experience, might I add), and phone calls, although the texting keyboard can get a tad bit confusing. The touch screen is slow and extremely space sensitive. It answers or ignores a phone call if you pull it out of your pocket too quickly while it is ringing. The touch screen lags unneccesarily, an attribute that is not compatible with a daily life as fast-paced as mine. It isn't a good business phone. Its camera does not contain a flash, preventing good photography. Screen quality is severely lacking. Quite often the screen freezes up and it is necessary to take the battery pack out in order to restore it to working condition. My best advice to you is to not expect this phone to be anything more than a simple, like an iPhone.
...

Got the Instinct back in February. To me, the features are comparible to the iPhone (with the exception of the downloadable apps); but that's just my opinion. IIt has plenty of "PDA"-like features on it that makeit the perfect phone for someone that doesnt wanna pay all that money for the "iPhone data plan" on top of their minute plan. I love it.
...
