I love my Samsung. I think their phones beat the rest, hands-down. Mine has the capacity to make a clear phone call, but doesn't have lots of little gadgets. It is as plain as one would design if one could order a self-designed model. After all, that's what I need a cell to do!

I chose this phone because it was free with a 2-year contract, and it was dual-mode. We were living in the boonies at the time and hoped that the ability of the phone to work on analog networks would help. I'm not sure that it did, but it's a good phone nonetheless.

I talk on the phone a fair amount, but beyond that I do not use any of the cell phone's other features. I do not text, send/receive pictures, download ringtones, or access the internet via my phone. This phone does support all of these things (although I'm unsure as to the extent of its internet access), but I cannot review these features.

I can say that the battery life has been outstanding and that the phone seems to be pretty reliable as far as getting and keeping a signal. I don't have an issue with excessively dropped calls with this phone. The phone does have a camera with flash that I use on occasion, but it's a pretty lame camera, and between that, and the low-res screen on the phone, it's pretty hard to...

I enjoy using my cell phone from Metro PCS ~ I have a Samsang ~ it is easy to navigate ~ one monthly charge for unlimited talk time ~ selections of phones are great ~ gadgets are also great ~ many to chose from! All around good company!

Samsung - SCH-A870 Cell Phone

Got this as my Verizon Wireless upgrade last fall after much research. Liked the fact that it had a speaker you could use with the phone closed. Over all, I like it but it has a few quirks. The biggest downside is that often times the phone winds up on speaker when it's closed and I have no idea! The phone rings and I don't answer it and all of a sudden I hear someone saying hello! The phone answers the call and they can hear my background conversation and that is NOT good since I use this phone to forward my business line after hours! The other downside is that you have to jump through hoops to change from ringer to vibrate. My last phone had one key you could press to change to vibrate.

i have had this cell phone for almost two years. i had gotten it free when i signed up for my cell plan. if it wasnt free i would have not gotten it, the phone has great features but the sound volume is poor and sometimes the phone echos, this can be very annoying....

The Samsung SCH-A870 is a good phone for the money. There aren't many bells and whistles which tend to increase the cost of a phone while not necessarily increasing the quality. It's a very lightweight phone and not super-thin or tiny which can be an annoyance in my opinion. You can text with this phone and there are several emoticons to choose from. However, if you are an avid texter, this phone may not be for you as you may begin wondering mid-text why you didn't just call instead....

i love my phone. it's the best i've had yet and i've had alot of phones. if you're looking for one that's good, durable and has alot of memory, not to mention the media. you've found the right one....

i've preferred samsung phones from verizon for the past four years, i've tried some of the motorola's but they're not worth the extra cash. this one is small, has great battery life and has taken a beating without giving in. i'd definitely buy it again (if they didn't replace all models every year)....

i got this phone as part if the promotion from cingular, the quality is excellent, the lcd is very good, the reception is acceptable. the only problem is the speaker cannot be turned on while the ring is going on. also its difficult to find cell phone cover for this at walmart and target. this is a very good value for money otherwise...

Samsung is a name you can count on. Great reception. The battery has a long talk time. This phone is easy to use. I love the large number clock on the front of the phone, very easy to see the time. Another nice feature is that you can put a picture in the phone so when someone calls you who you have a picture of, it show up. A simple way to screen calls. It is nice and lightweight. And is blue tooth capable....

Less than one month after buying this phone brand new it started powering down for no reason. I would notice I haven't received a call for a while so I would check my phone and it would be off! Very frustrating and annoying! I called sprint they were no help, they said you have to contact Samsung directly. After spending hours trying to get through to samsung I found out that I have to pay to ship the phone to them, go without a phone for at least 2 weeks, and pay for it to be fixed. I would never buy another samsung product if my life depended on it.

If you use Verizon, this is a good looking phone that is comfortable to use and inexpensive, especially when they are offering twofer deals. It took me a bit longer--and more use of the manual--to learn how to use its features than previous phones have taken me.

Major downside: the speakerphone button is on the side, and it is easy to hit by mistake. Then you suddenly realize the whole world is listening to your conversation partner....
