nadinenavarro5 says "The Samsung S860 is the worst camera I have ever owned!!!" about Samsung - S860 Digital Camera

Where do i start? This camera has brought me more misery than anything else in the one year that I have owned it. I first got it senior year of high school to take to grad bash and that very same day, only a couple of days after the purchase, it started freszing and the screen would not move. I literally had to take the batteries out and put them back in to get the camera to turn off so I could turn it back on again so it could start working once again. I still do't know why I did not return it right away. I guess since I needed it to continue taking pictures as the end of my high school career came to an end. At graduation, it was the same problem all over again. Now, only a year after I purchased this camera, this camera won't turn on, the batteries won't last through 10 photos. If I had to buy a camera again I would ever buy another samsug. Sorry, but this experience has made me hate anything from samsung all together.
...

i just recently purchased the samsung s860 digital camera and it is not as good as a digital camera should be. first of all i can't find a usb cable so i can't transfer my pictures from the camera to my computer. second of all the lens is always getting stuck somehow and the pictures are not very high quality. third the batteries have to be replaced every week because the battery life doesn't hold up at all. So in the nutshell th camera is a good match for children or a first camera but nt if you want to take good pictures.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Samsung - S860 Digital Camera

I bought this camera in pink and was so excited to get it. The first few times that I used it, the camera worked great after that it only worked when it wanted to. The flash didnt work, the lens wouldn't retract half the time and when you turned it on the service message popped up and the camera went off. I called Wal-Mart, but since I didnt have the reciept they couldn't do anything. When I tried to call the company, there was no answer and no response at the website either. When the camera did work, it took bad pictures. Either they were too dark or too light. Some didnt show up at all. The batteries only last through a few uses and I had to buy new ones. When hooked up to the computer, the computer couldn't find it to transfer the pictures off of it. About the only good thing I could say about it was that the color was nice and it was small and compact. I guess you get what you pay for and should have spent themoney on a better...
...

The Samsumg S860 is a cool little camera that I recently bought for my 10 year old. She was asking for a digital camera and I went looking for something of good quality but not too expensive. I think I paid $89 for this.

This camera has great colors to choose from! I got a metallic blue. I know Pink and Silver were choices too. Also, the buttons are user friendly, it's easy to change flash setttings, resolution and to view/delete pics. The rotating button on the top allows for easy changes to 'dark', 'mountain', 'beach', 'video', etc settings.

I like the lens design, as you turn off the camera there is a cover that closes over the lens to protect it. The back viewing window is large so you can get a good view of what you're shooting.

One negative - the focus feature doesn't always seem to be intelligent enough to figure out what you're trying to focus on. I've had problems taking pictures at ballgames because it wants to focus on the wrong kid!
...

My daughter kept begging to take my expensive digital camera to school. I found the Samsung S860 and bought her one - she carried it in her purse - dropped it at least a dozen times, splashed water on it and shared it with her friends. She took it on a field trip after all this and when she had the pictures printed they turned out better than the ones from my expensive and bulky camera. I loved the size, the ease of using the Samsung and the fact that it took all that abuse and still worked wonderfully. I then bought me the exact same one (I had mine engraved so my daughter wouldn't claim the less beat up one). I carry it everwhere and use it almost daily. It has been an amazing camera and the quality of the pics is remarkable.
...

MexicanJim says "There's a reason Samsung's not known for Cameras." about Samsung - S860 Digital Camera

Samsung has never been known for making cameras, and there is probably a pretty good reason for that. Certainly the Samsung S860 8MP 2.4" LCD Digital Camera does absolutely nothing to shore up that poor reputation. With the exception of a large LCD screen on the back on this digital camera, it is safe to say that Samsung cameras deserve and have earned their position in the "Sucky" category of digital cameras.

The Samsung S860 8MP 2.4" LCD Digital Camera still runs off 2 AA batteries, which means you have to carry about twenty extras with you if you're going to Disneyland for the day. It also has a most unimpressive 3X zoom, which is just a little better than taking three steps closer to the object you're trying to photograph. Dim light? Forget it, unless you're trying to purposely take blurry pictures in which case this is a great camera for you.

Let's just all agree that the Samsung S860 8MP 2.4" LCD Digital Camera is bad. Not like Hitler bad, but more like fruitcake bad. After all, I'm......

This camera is okay for a cheap camera. I guess it has a fair amount of features for its price but being the family event photographer, I do have some complaints. The display is a ittle muddy, not as good as other cameras I've seen. It has a maccro setting but the closeups weren't all that clear or detailed. It's not very good in low light, and it goes through batteries pretty quickly....

I bought this camera because I was planning a vacation to Vegas, my husband and I are going to fly there. My other camera is the Nikon D50, it's a large and somewhat of a clunky camera. Don't get me wrong, I love that camera too but I wanted something cheap to bring with on the vacation...just in case we lost it or something we wouldn't be out much. My Nikon cost us over $800.00 where this Samsung was just under $100.00...that's a great price for such a great camera!

It's very easy to operate, it just so happens to use the same SD card as my Nikon and I just love that I can do some fun color changing editing right on the camera! It uses 2 AA batteries and has a 3x optical zoom (which is better than the digital zoom when it comes to getting those great 8x10 pictures. It has face detection which is nice but sometimes it detects things other than faces, but that's OK.

I purchased the silver one from Amazon.com. I can't wait to go on the vacation and take several pictures with it. I have...
...

I bought this 8.1 digital camera at Radio Shack in June 2008. It was $99.99( Just pennies more than Walmart). I got it for my 9 year old daughter to take to summer camp. We had about a month to learn how to use it. It has so many features you really have to read the directions & practice with it. On July 4th the lens cover wouldn't close all the way & it wouldn't retract unless you gently pushed it in. I took it back to Radio Shack & the kindly exchanged it. She took some great pictures both in the daylight & night time. Wonderful fireworks pictures! Recently, I was carrying it & somehow formatted the card & lost all my pictures & video. I have now idea what happened, but I had most of the pictures downloaded on my computer. It does use a lot of batteries, but I use lithium & they last much longer I always carry extra "AA" batteries with me. It also has simple directions on how to take better pictures when you turn the dial to that feature. I love the image stabilization......

I have owned this camera for a few weeks now and it is above average for the price .

I wanted a point and shoot around $100 that would provide decent photos primarily using the Auto setting . In addition, this camera has image stabilization so no blurry shots, face detection, red eye removal and lots more that are usually only found on pricier cameras .

It has 8.1 megapixels and a 2.5 LCD screen -decent . The onyl flaws are the LCD screen is hard to see while taking shots in bright sun - a viewfinder would have been nice . Also, if your batteries are low ( rechargeables are a MUST ) , the lens sometimes has gotten stuck and will not retract. I had to power off , remove the batteries ,replace and power back on. I did return the first one for that reason and bought the extended warranty but later read about the issue and the fix online . Overall, the pictures are nice and clean , no graininess and fairly simple to use .

...
