I had the a707 sync for less then a month when it started skipping calls, and losing reception all the time. I called the company to complain and they said, open the back and look at the color of a little dot and tell us what it is, in case I might have dropped it in water or something like that. I did and they said they would send me a box to have it returned to then for replacement. I sent back the phone and in a week they sent back my phone with a note saying that the phone had gotten wet somehow and that they would charge me $250 to replace the phone.

I told them that the phone had been with me at all times and that I had just gotten it and that there was no way that this phone had gotten wet, so we finally decided to split the difference and they sent me a new phone. It arrived minus the back cover and the battery. They told me that I should just use those items from my old phone. I started using the new phone and had used it for less then a week when I noticed that the battery cover...
...

jamy says "Great phone!" about Samsung - Model SGH-A707 Cell Phone

This is a great phone for the price I got it for. I am a fan of getting the max features for the price and this phone does exactly that. I don't use the media player much, but it works great. I like the menu structure and the ability to browse my phone via folders as well - it's really intuitive. The outside LCD is a bit fragile, but as long as you don't drop it on a hard surface like I did, you should be fine. This phone is much better than any nokia I have ever owned - I recommend it highly!...

I bought the SGH-A707 a few months after its release. I've had it for almost two years and it's been through rain, pavement, and an instance of swimming in the toilet. It's managed to survive all those!

However, if you use the internet or cingular video, it is quick to drain battery life. Dropping it in the toilet probably did not help either...
...

Oceanstorm says "Not the best....but still works top of the line" about Samsung - Model SGH-A707 Cell Phone

I have had this phone (Samsung SGH A707) for almost a year now and it still works pretty great. The only complaint is that it loses reception a lot if you are not in a 3G network area. I live in a small city in So. IL with Att. One minute I will have 5 bars and the next I will have none. I suggest the Blackberry Curve instead...but I still see a lot of people with my phone.....

craftygirl says "The stuff I need isn't handy, and the battery is weak." about Samsung - Model SGH-A707 Cell Phone

I agree with the previous review - I miss my old phone. I was excited when I got this phone - I wanted the mp3 player, and it seemed to have a lot of great features. However, I've had lots of problems with the phone. I use my IM and texts a lot, and this phone seems to be very randomly picky about when and how it will connect to either of those. The phone doesn't always ring even when I'm in a full coverage area. The voicemail notification pops up immediately, though, so I'm in the dark about why the voicemail would ring but not, you know, the actual call. The sound quality isn't great on the calls, nor does it block out any background noise.

Also this phone chews up battery time. If I do anything except keep it in my pocket, it's down to the last dot by the end of my work day. I don't spend all day on the phone, nor do I spend all day texting or IM'ing. I get maybe 2 hours of talk time and 12-14 hours of completely idle time. Yes, that's hours. If I leave the phone...
...

I miss the "hide my cell number" feature from my previous cell phone. Not everyone needs to know my cell number.

Although I love the fact that my Samsung cell phone plays music, takes video and takes better qualtiy and more photographs, I prefer the basic features of my previous cell phone. Every other button on the Samsung accidentally opens the browser which costs me money. Also, features such as the calculator takes four to five clicks to find. It is so hidden, I have to fall upon it to find it. Therefore, despite the fact that my Samsung cell phone has more techological bells and whistles, I prefer my more basic and simple cell phone....
