My husband and I originally bought our Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray player in order to participate in the "Watch Instantly" fun at Netflix. We have come to realize we bought the wrong player. However, our mishap has turned to something very happy for us! We can still enjoy our large DVD collection and go ahead purchase the new blu-ray discs, as well. The picture quality has improved greatly. The sound quality is even better, if that's possible. Another really neat thing we discovered is that if you own other electronic components by Samsung, you can set the up to work together. That's pretty nifty if you are installing 5 different components to your home theater system. We purchased our blu-ray player at Wal-Mart. We were very satisfied with the cost of our blu-ray player. We certainly feel we got a good deal and would definitely recommend this product to our friends and family. We are quite like to purchase more Samsung items in the future.
...

kbrisky77 says "Great player for the Money." about Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray Player

The Samsung BD-1500 blu ray player has satisfied my basic wants in a blu ray player quite nicely. It was well within my price range, I paid $187 for the player and four discs, it loads blu ray discs quickly enough that I don't get frustrated, and the picture I get is utterly fantastic.

My only complaint is one that may even apply to all players, I don't know, this is the first I've owned, and the complaint is that it takes longer than I would like to switch between menus and to get to the menu choice I've made. For example, if I choose Special Features, it spins for a bit, then the screen blanks for a few seconds, then it spins again, and the special features appear. Then when I choose which special feature I want to see, it spins for a bit, the screen goes blank for a few seconds, it spins again before starting the feature.

Overall I have greatly enjoyed watching movies on my player, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good basic player who didn't need lots of bells...
...

"Nothing in life is certain except death, taxes, and advances in electronics."

If there are constants to the universe beyond the bureaucratic mentality - a concept I "borrowed" from a line in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - I'm sure that one of them is "No matter how 'hot' a new tech gadget or audio/video format might be, someone, somewhere will eventually come up with an even newer one that will make it obsolete in less time than you can say 'Holy Thomas Edison, Batman!'"

For instance, ever since 1976, when I was given my first radio/alarm clock to help me wake up early and to listen to music with, I've seen the coming and going of the following audio and video formats:

45 RPM vinyl records - extinct

33 RPM "long-play" or LP vinyl albums - almost extinct

Eight-track tapes - extinct

Cassette tapes - almost extinct

Compact Discs (CDs) - still around but not as popular since advent of MP3 files

Videocassettes (VHS format) - obsolete but enough exist in many homes to not be totally extinct...

...
