My husband and I sailed on The Splendour of the Seas in August 2007 for our honeymoon. We wanted a European cruise and RCCL was recommended to us by our travel agent.

We started out in Venice, staying for 2 night with accommodations through RCCL. The hotel was just ok, but we were in Venice so we didn't spend too much time in the hotel. We booked all of our transfers through RC and they were seamless. We never had an issue getting to the hotel, boat, or airport.

The boat is older and is on the smaller side but since this was my first cruise, I was fascinated by all of it. We were seated at dinner with 4 other young couples on honeymoons. The food was pretty good and they paid a lot of attention to my food allergies. The service was outstanding- from the waitress to the guy who makes your beds to all the bartenders- everyone was 100% accommodating.

Our ship went from Venice to Dubrovnik, Croatia, to Kusadasi, Turkey, to Santorini, Greece to Corfu Greece. The excursions we booked...
...

We were on Splendour in the Mediterranean. We had a wonderful time. The boat was ok. The colors are old. The materials used in decor seemed cheap. The pool was tiny. To counter, the service was pretty good. We felt that after having paid for the cruise and the upgraded room that the Royal Caribbean still tried to get as much money from you as they could... $20 for a small picture on formal night, expensive drinks, expensive tours and expensive transportation by bus to the towns at the ports. We felt a little ripped when we had to pay $16 just to see the towns once we got off the boats. Couldn't that be included?
...

This is a great cruise for everyone. It is not a party ship for young (19-25 year olds) like the Carnival line. There are many families and couples who are just married. Every passenger we spoke with was educated, which made for a much better time. The excursions were fantastic. In Cozumel we did one excursion that included driving an ATV, snorkeling, seeing ruins, an crocodile preserve, and visiting a light house. We didn't have to choose just one activity! The boat itself was clean and the workers were incredibly nice. The waiters learned our preferences by the second day and we were assigned to a tabel that was perfect for us. The mini-golf course was only crowded the first day, but the rock wall always had a line. Still well worth it to be able to look around from the top. The indoor pool was warm and quiet, while the children were all at the outdoor pool. The entertainment wasn't as impressive as I had heard from other reviewers, but everything else was so impressive that it didn't......

This was a great cruise. If you are looking for fun take a cruise on Royal Carribean. We had a great time. The fun was great and the staff was wonderful. I plan on taking another trip this year. If you go twice, you get a gold card that takes money off your trip and gives you coupons for money off items you buy on the ship....

I went on the Splendor of the Seas in June for a Meditteranean cruise. It was absolutely fabulous. We left out of Barcelona and visited Marseilles, Nice (Monaco), Florence, Rome, and Naples. The ports were fabulous with great excursions. WHen we finally had time on the ship we participated in everything. From karaoke, to the games. The Spa was heaven and the staff members delightful. I would love to go on this cruise again. ...

The best part was the friendly staff, always gretting you in the hallways, or helping you get something. Everything was very planned out and well organized. The only complaint I have about my vacation is the food. When you go on a cruise ship, you expect the food to be top quality cuisine. Everything was in place with the service and menus, however the end product always seemed to be lacking in some way. It was still good food, just not to die for and probably not worth what we were paying....

Our trip was in late September 2006, a good time for the Mediterranean - after the worst of the summer heat is past. We sailed from Venice after two nights in a qualint B&B about 10 minutes from St. Mark's Square, which we found through Google™. The stops included Athens, Kusaqdasi (Ephesus), Iraklion (Crete) and Corfu. We did shore excursions at each port, and were able to see truly wondrous sites - the ruins of the Minoan culture, which blossomed in parallel to the Egyptians as trading competitors, The Parthnon, and, of course, the shopping sites (for her, naturally)....

Splendour Of The Seas 5 Night Western Caribbean Cruise, ½ paid by our Royal Caribbean points
In 2005 we signed up for the Royal Caribbean credit card. In less than a year and a half we earned enough points to qualify for $500 cruise discount. We decided we wanted a cheap cruise that wouldn't use up a lot of vacation days to just break up the cold winter. We shopped around and found a 5 night cruise out of Galveston TX. The airfare from Chicago was ½ the price of that to Florida at the same time. The cruise left on A Saturday, which most 5 day cruises out of Florida left in the middle of the week. Since we didn't want to use up a full week of vacation for a short cruise this was the best option. For an inside cabin, it was about $600 a person. We used our $500 credit for this cruise and basically cut our costs in half. Using the points was easy and just required us to call RC, and cash in our points.

The Ship:

Splendour Of The Seas, is an older smaller ship. It...
...
