We've been on four other RCI ships but this was by far the best. We were a bit leary of the size but in reality it didn't seem any more crowded than the smaller ships we had been on. The captain was the most personable one that we have encountered and the cruise director didn't have the massive ego problem that most of them have. Our cabin was quiet and comfortable and the amenities on the ship were remarkable. A tip if you get a balcony cabin...go to the bakery on the promenade and pick up some sandwiches, take them back to your room and picnic on the deck. We purchased some sodas and chips in port and had them along with some fruit from the Windjammer. Great lunch and you can't beat the setting. This ship is moving to LA in January so we will miss it in Port Canaveral although we are looking forward to getting Freedom of the Seas here....

We just got home today and are ready to book another cruise. We enjoyed this cruise even more then last years. RC treats their passengers like royalty. We did activities in 2 of the ports and enjoyed them both with out any problems. We did have some crappy weather on the way home but Captian Per did a great job keeping all of us safe and sound. Last year we cruised with Captain Johnny and he was great also....

Mult problems. Royal Caribbean decided to take our money and sail inspite of a Hurricaine. It prevented any outdoor festivities and almost caused injury outside with winds and no staff to warn passengers. Royal Caribbean Cancelled Bahamas then the captain turned boat around 6 plus hour into cruise bacause of passenger injury. No Emergent help due to weather condition. We ended up back in Florida and restarted cruise without scheduled port stops or excursions paid for. I wrote for some refund of my trip but flatly refused per royal Caribbean. I sent certified letters to all involved and received canned response. Very disappointed and so is my family who sunk all their hard earned money into this. Oh, the final insult was when they drained all the pools and put all lounge chairs away so the last day when the weather was nice no place to enjoy the outdoors. Very disappointed and we "WERE" crown and anchor members. Well,
We are leaving for Hawaii next week on PRINCESS......

We just were on the mariner of the see for labor day week. Due to the hurricane we missed one of our ports to the bahamas. Luckily the ship had many things to do which kept us occupied, golf, wall climbing, basketball court, ice skating rink, ping pong. The entertainment wasnt that great. ur favorite entertainer was one of the crew that had a few shows throughought the week at lounges on the ship. the cafe on the promenade was great. it gave you the sense that you were in ny at a cafe, and it was open at all hours, so baked goods and pizza and sandwisches avaialble all nigth long :)...

I went with my husband and three kids on our first cruise, August 24-31, 2008. It was supposed to be a 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean... Labadee, Haiti; Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Grand Cayman Island, and Cozumel, Mexico. Due to Hurricane Gustav, our itinerary was changed, so we visited St Thomas and St Martin, Eastern Caribbean instead. I was a little disappointed, but I know that that Captain Johnny wanted to keep us all safe...But there were so many things to do on the ship: sports and swimming, shows and movies at the Savoy Theatre, Adventure Ocean for the kids, a snack at the Promenade Cafe any time of the day or night, various seminars (some for a fee)...and much more. The food was good...many choices, though I got kind of fed-up with those formal nights...but we got some great family pictures from those nights. My biggest issue was that beverages (soft drinks) are not included, so you had to either buy a drink package (per person) or pay per beverage. We chose not to buy drink packages,......

My boyfriend took me on my first cruise last month. We went on Royal Caribbean's "Mariner of the Sea." I had never been on a cruise before so this extra special. The staff treated us like family. Our waiter for 2nd seating dining was "Madman!" A truly terrific guy and it was always a pleasure to see him. Everything about the ship amazed me. There is so much to do that I didn't see the entire ship. We plan to go on a Honeymoon cruise in a few months. I loved looking out at the sea from our balcony. There aren't really any words to describe what a wonderful time we had. Take a break...go on a cruise...you won't be sorry you did. I would definitley recommend to go on the one we went on. You can even get your hair braided in Jamacia like I did!...

I booked a Western Caribbean cruise directly with RC on March 1 for March 23, 2008 cruise for myself and 16 year old son. We had a guarantee stateroom (RC chose) in 1639 and it was quiet and dark, good for sleeping. We have no complaints about the room but may choose a balcony next time. I highly recommend passports and a credit card account to go through registration at port. There were more than 3600 passengers with 1/3 of those under 18 on spring break. The little kids seemed so happy to be in the kids program and the teenagers were having fun and were well behaved. Lots of folks from the midwest on the cruise. The cruise sailed to Haiti - Grand Cayman - Ocho Rios - Cozumel. The ships are so stable that seasickness was not an issue EXCEPT for the tender to land from Cozumel for Cozumel/Mayan excusions. The tickets correctly warned of rough seas. I ate a sour green apple and had no problems but many passengers, including my son, got sick. On the return trip, my son took the motion...
...

This was our first cruise ever and our daughter and son-in-law took us on the Mariner of the Seas for our 35th aniversary. I was hooked from the minute I stepped onto the ship. We had a wonderful time. The staff was wonderful and the food was good although they could really improve on the buffet, as it seemed to have the same thing day after day. Our steward was great and the little towel animals were wonderful. We could not wait to get back to our rooms each night after dinner to check and see what was waiting for us, stingray or monkey & etc. Have a memory for life from this cruise....

We took our first Royal Caribbean cruise on the Mariner of the Seas and will not use any other cruise line from now on! The food was wonderful, the staff was friendly and there were so many activities that we didn't have enough time to get everything done. We had a room with a balcony, which I highly recommend because if you stay in an inside cabin, it feels like night time all day long! We loved sitting out on the balcony and watching the sunsets and the views as we pulled into the different ports. We had a great time at their private island (Labadee) and even added the optional water park. I think we were the only adults without children, but had a blast playing on the slides and trampolines out in the ocean. While on the ship, we ice skated, played mini golf, participated in gym classes in the mornings, went to the daily evening shows and even tried our luck at bingo. I am looking forward to our next cruise, which will definitely be with Royal Caribbean.
...
