I have bought two Rowenta irons and both have failed within a year of normal use. After a few months or about 200 uses these irons will simply stop working one day. My guess is that the power cord inside the iron failed. These irons still look brand new. Do not be fooled by any positive reviews of this item because I am sure they haven't owned one for more than 6 months. DO NOT BUY A ROWENTA IRON.

The Rowenta Professional Iron:

Horrible........I should have saved my money, purchased this iron for $114.00 and it was broke within six months. The shut off feature of 30 seconds makes it impossible to make ironing chores a pleasure. nothing good to say at all!!
...

i bought a Rowenta Professional iron and after having to have it repaired twice in less than 2 years, decided it wasn't worth it anymore. I have a Sunbeam now that seems to be going strong, although it has a teflon soleplate which I don't really like.
...

I like my Rowentta iron. I have used Black and Decker irons all my life. I really enjoy ironing since I believe in ironing everything. In 36 years of marriage. I have probably had six irons at least. I had always wanted a rowentta iron but just could not bring myself to pay the price. Well my last iron did not last by a few years. It was not very good and it sure did not iron the clothes very well. I looked at Rowentta irons and started reading reviews about them. I decided on the model DZ9080. The reviews said once I got use to the weight I would love it. I love it, my ironing time is cut in half. Our clothes look professionally done. My rowentta has 1800 watts which is the highest available. I can do dry ironing and steam ironing, High Pressure Steam is on my model plus burst of steam. Vertical Steam, Spray setting and Anti-Drip System. There is a neat 3-Way Smart Automatic Shut-Off. Aftert eight minutes the iron shuts off is not moved and if it falls over,...
...

Okay, you heard about the demise of my Sunbeam Steam Master Iron, right? Well, I typically would not think about going to Bed Bath and Beyond to buy an iron but I got a $100 gift card for my birthday and didn't know what else I would use it on so I set off to get a new iron.

First of all, this isn't a cheap iron, price wise or in any other fashion. It was $99.99 but I did get a bonus card for $5 off my next purchase. I'm not sure if that was in collaboration with a promo at BB&B or from Rowenta. And it's a beautiful plum-like color! The price and quality of the Rowenta Professional DX8800 Iron makes you think you are ironing with the stars. Well, maybe not, they probably have someone else ironing for them. Okay, you can feel like you are ironing for the stars. Promise me you will not tell my family how much I spent. They would die!

What I really like about this specific iron is that it has some sort of leak proof feature so after you fill the water reservoir you aren't...
...

StephenSynergy says "1-month marvel, then leaky, faulty failure" about Rowenta Iron - Rowenta Professional

Rowenta Professional and Advancer DZ9080 began as a brilliant design, hefty presser including a pinched tip for buttons and special pleats with ample steam vents to ease the work. Having paid my way through college by steam ironing the ROTC boys shirts and polishing their shoes for inspection, I qualify as a serious user of steam irons with VERY careful attention to not dropping or abusing them over the years and now.

Within a month of purchasing the Rowenta the leaking of this Professional model brought me to exchange the iron for its replacement of the same professional model.

Now, after 6 replacements in 11 months for a variety of ailments (diodes failed-leaking profusely-failure to heat), it is obvious the components used in Rowenta or quality assurance have major flaws that make them seriously unreliable and a candidate for corporate re-thinking of their product.

At $127.00 US there is little excuse for anything to be missing or shoddy related to durability, design or effective...
...

my old iron was not very expensive and after using it for various craft projects, it was pretty much 'used up'. i had heard of Rowenta and thought i would like to have one. my brother gave me a rowenta professional iron a few years ago, and i love it! i wanted an iron with a slick bottom (not teflon) because i knew that if i used it to fuse fabric, it would end up with 'sticky' on the sole plate and it would have to be cleaned. i was afraid i would scratch the newer finishes; this one is perfect for me! it has steam and a steamer ability, which is wonderful. i think this iron has a really nice weight; i found myself applying extra pressure on lighter, cheaper irons! as i said, the rowenta packs some weight; but, if you allow proper time for the iron to heat and begin steaming, the weight actually works for you. when you place the iron on your garment, you don't have to apply extra pressure--i have actually tested this by pushing the iron along with a fingertip! i skipped...
...

I iron all of my clothes and my husbands so I spend a lot of time ironing. I used to buy the cheapest iron I could find and would have to end up replacing it within 6 months. I read some reviews on the Rowenta irons and decided I would buy one. When I bought one I wanted to get a good one so I bought the Rowenta Professional. That was 5 years ago and I'm still using the same iron! Usually I would use starch on a lot of my shirts, but with the Rowenta I've reduced the need for starch by at least 50% because of the awesome steam it puts out. I can get the nicest crease in my husbands work slacks without using starch on them. I could never get my son to iron any of his clothes because he said he "couldn't" well I made it a point to forget to iron some of his work shirts and he had to do them himself and now I don't have to iron his clothes anymore! He told me it's the best and easiest iron he's ever used. If you keep the iron clean like the directions say you'll have this iron for as long...
...

The Roweta Iron is a high quality iron that will be the last iron you'll need. It's sturdy and effective and consistent from use to use. I went through 3 $20 irons in 6 months before I just ponied up for this iron and I couldn't be happier that I did. The steam works in less than 60 seconds after plugging it in. The auto shut off works after a few minutes of being left stationary but this iron heats up so fast, it's not an issue because it will be hot again within seconds. It has a great auto clean feature that keeps the starch buildup out of the pores. It does get starch buildup quickly on the flat surfaces but cleans easily with a kitchen sponge. And it hasn't ever burnt my clothes, which others have. I thought the cord was longer than several I had owned and overall I have no complaints at all about this iron. ...

I decided to switch from my normal brand of irons and try the Rowenta Professional. I purchased the Rowenta Professional iron about 2 years ago thinking that it would be a good investment. I have since changed my mine about this product. I don't know if I am the only one that this happens to, but almost everytime I iron anything white, brown water leaks out of the iron all over my white clothes. Needless to say this does not make me a happy camper. Normally I only purchase Black and Decker irons and after my experience with the Rowenta, I have since gone back to only purchasing Black and Decker irons. ...
