I love the idea of a crock pot. How amazing it is to simply throw all of your ingredients into one pot, turn it on, and walk away? You can have an amazing meal cook all day without having to do anything.

I have had this crock pot for 4 1/2 years and have not had any issues with it. I love that you can remove the crock to set out on the table or put in the refrigerator. It is relatively easy to clean, although if you get any drippings in the cooker part, it is harder to get out.

The major problem that I have with it is that it gets so hot. The sides are extremely hot, and if you have small children, you have to make sure that it is not within their reach. It looks nice but again, it gets so hot. Even the lid gets hot and after cooking for awhile, you have to make sure that you use a hot pad or towel when lift the lid.

Overall, I would recommend this crock pot. I do like the newer, "cool side" versions, but I have not had any problems with this crock pot when I have used...
...

I love my Rival crock pot. I use it about 2-3 times a week when I know that I am going to be short on time when I get home for dinner. I use it for Sunday lunch too. It is so nice to fix it, forget it and come home to the smell of lunch or dinner that is ready to eat. I love the push button features and the warm, 4, 6, 8, or 10 hour choices. Every crock pot that has had a turn button has broken on me. I've had this for years and won't ever go back.
...

I love the large size of this Rival six quart crockpot. The oval size easily allows me to fit a pot roast, brisket, or a dinner for six. The one drawback is that the crockpot gets very hot, even on the lowest setting. I find that it sometimes burns my sauces and also can cook my meat too fast. The base also gets very hot to the touch. It is very nice that the cooking container separates from the base, which allows for easier cleaning. The glass top easily fits in the dishwasher, which is a nice plus in a busy household. I like the stainless color, which fits in with a modern kitchen and modern appliances. The programming option is nice for a mom on the go. The weight of the crockpot is not too heavy. I have to store mine in a top cabinet, and it is easy to lift this appliance to its storage space. The warm feature is great for when the food is done cooking but would like to keep it warm for serving. This feature has come in handy many times.
...

This Rival Smart-Pot is great, except when you want to cook smaller amounts. It heats evenly, has easy to use controls, and cleans up in a breeze. There's only two of us, but when I make large batches of soup or chili, cook for family or friends, this is my go-to slow cooker. When I tried cooking 3- 4 quarts, the contents would nearly boil, even on low, so I would not recommend this for a small family like mine. .
...

I have this Rival Smart Pot Crock Pot. I love it! I turn it on in the morning before work and come home to a delicious hot meal. It is such a time saver. Working full time and having to take care of the family, anything that makes my life a little bit easier is great. My husband even uses this Crock Pot. My favorite thing to cook in it is meatballs. They taste great. Not mushy at all after cooking all day. My husband like to make Beef Stew. The potatoes and carrots are just right and the beef just falls apart. It's so easy to find recipes you could use this every night of the week....

Rival Crock Pot- Smart Pot 6-quart 38601

I am a huge fan of crock pot cooking as I am a busy mom of 2 and work outside the home. Crock pot cooking saves me on the days that I need a home cooked meal ready when I get home in the evenings too tired to start from scratch.

I received my first Rival Smart Pot as a gift and I was very excited as it was programable with time and temperature settings. I had to throw away my first meal that I had made in it as I set it on the 8 hour setting and left for work.. when I returned 8 hours later my roast was burned to a crisp. Not only was there no dinner, but it took a very long time to clean the charred remains. I gave it another shot and this time, used it on a weekend and watched it. To my dismay (but explained the roast debacle above), the food was boiling after only 2 hours on the low-8 hour setting. I had to turn it to warm and switch back and forth to make sure the food cooked, but didn't burn again. What a nightmare. Totally...
...

I LOVE THIS SLOW COOKER BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT LEAVING FOOD IN THE OVEN WHILE I'M SLEEPING. PLUS DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP BECAUSE I AVE TO GET UP AND COOK. I WOULD SUGGEST ALL WOMEN WHO DON'T HAVE ONE OF THESE INVEST IN ONE. AND THIS ONE IS A GREAT SIZE FOR SMALL OR LARGE FAMILIES....

I have had this crock pot for years now - not being much of a cook. I decided to try to start using it again since I don't have much time to cook dinners anymore. The first negative for me is how hot the handle on the lid gets. The biggest problem for me is that no matter what seting it is on, it runs HOT. I have had to cook on the "warm" setting and even using that, it boils my food. Needless to say, this is not helping things in my house. Dinners have been ruined so I am on the hunt for a new, better model that won't burn my food. ...

The Rival Crock Pot - Smart Pot 6-quart is terrific. I really enjoy hwo I can just leave it on all day and when I come home, my kitchen smells great. It's easy to use and very easy to clean.
We received this as a wedding gift nearly five years ago and it works great still. I have a lot of trust in Rival as it was a favorite brand of my mom's growing up. I just knew I could trust it when we registered for it. We've bought slow cooker recipes books just to see what else we can use this crock pot for.
We've cooked everything from soups, chilli's, and even pulled pork in this puppy. It's really versatile and convenient.
I'd say the only draw back is that we have a small kitchen and it's a larger item. But, it fits right on top of our fridge up and away from everything else.
...

We recently bought a Rival Crock Pot and we just love it. It doesn't make any difference what you are making. Just throw it all in, cover, set and walk away. The delicious smells that waft through the house make you feel like a celebrity chef.

We were concerned that the temperature controls would not be easy or convenient to use, or even worse would not really do what they say. Don't worry; even those of us who are control-challenged can work this easily.

And the cleaning up is so easy. Nothing sticks, really. The inside comes out and with a short soak cleans up perfectly. We once put it in the dishwasher and it shone afterward. But it does take up a lot of space so handwashing is usually the way to go. And it is not a big deal at all.

We would highly recommend this appliance to all ages and styles of cooks.
...
