The Rival 5 qt stainless steel Countdown Smart-Pot slow cooker is horrible and I am having nothing but problems with mine, so maybe it's defective, but after seeing reviews on other sites I don't think so.

This crock-pot runs way too hot, whether it's on low or high. If you so much as nudge the stoneware insert, the power and the programming SHUT OFF. Simply pushing the whole crock pot back on the counter is enough to reset the power, same thing if you try and stir it. I have no idea what that's about. I've used other pots before, and I've never experienced this.

I was excited to start using it, because it looks nice, and the "programming" feature would be helpful, but... This one is going back to the store, and I'm not going to bother trying another one. I'm glad I didn't leave the house with it on, because the high heat makes me very nervous. Very disappointed in the quality. ! no recommendation from me
...

This crock pot is great, just turn to high or low and go! It cooks mixed meals perfectly. I put in some leg quarters, fresh cut up carrots. red potatoes, cilantro, onion, red bell pepper and seasoning salt with garlic. Stayed away for about 6 hours and when I returned my meal was done. The only thing I added later was a pan of jiffy corn bread. UUMMMM UUUMMM GOOD!
...

You can borrow money from me, but not my Crock Pot!

I love my Rival brand crock-pot! I have had it for over 15 years. Imagine that! Most things these days don't even last 1 year much less 15 years. I have used it when I was busy working so that I would have a meal when I got home, used it for family gatherings, and parties. I even let someone borrow it, only one time, but yes I did let it get borrowed. I was so nervous when I did this because I was afraid I wouldn't get it back. You never know, even best friends sometimes let you down. I think I would rather loan money than my crock pot!

The model I have does double duty. Yes, double duty. You can remove the crock and it doubles as a deep fryer. Imagine that. What a wonderful concept. The only thing better would be, well, I guess, nothing. I have used the deep fry capacity as well. I am of Polish decent and there is nothing better than a ooey, gooey, deep friend Paczki! And, again, my rival pot got me...
...

My mom bought me this Crock Pot as a "thank you" for taking my grandmother to her doctor's appointments and in-general helping out the family. I'd had an older stonewear type model that I'd used for years that I thought - mistakenly - was the best of the best... until I used this one. It cleans up SO MUCH better than the older model, seems to heat more evenly and I love the WARM setting - as opposed to the just OFF/LOW/HI that the older model had.

Both models claimed to be dishwasher friendly, but the round shape of this version - as opposed to the oval shape of the old one - made it fit in my dishwasher much better. There is also a glossy coating on this model that seems to make it easier to clean - over-cooked roasts (I accidentally left one in overnight!) and even chili and spaghetti sauces really come off the pot perfectly.

When I told my mom how amazing this new Crock Pot was she confessed that she had gotten it on sale @ Target for $20. My old model cost at least twice that...
...

poetikbree says "Great crock pot" about Rival 6 quart crock pot

We had to replace our old crock pot because the cord on our old one disconnected and we had had it for years any ways. So we bought this rival six quart crockpot to replace it. It is a great crockpot. Its not as good as the crockpot brand crockpot that we had but it still does a good job. It is oval shaped with a silver base and a black oval insert. It came with a cord that you put over the handles and over the top that allows the pot and lid to stay in place so that you don't have to worry about it when you take it with you to family gatherings or parties. We use it to make just about anything. Its great if your really busy that day. what I usually do is put chicken and seasoning in the pot in the morning and by dinner time you have perfectly cooked evenly seasoned meat and all thats left to make is the sides. The only problem I really have with this crockpot is that the cord on it is too short other than that its perfect for me.
...

I have had this rival crock pot for about 9 years, I absolutley could not live with out it. The possibilities are endless. Whether it's to make meals, keep food warm, or take to parties, it has been the item I take out of my pantry at least once a week. Now when the weather gets cooler, starting now I use the Rival crockpot more often. With a busy family of 7 this has been so helpfull.I can get the vegtables cut up the night before if I'm making a beef stew or other meal that has vegtables. In the morning I can cut up the meat if it's still defrosting. By the way it's easier to cut meat if it's still a little frozen. Than I add the stock, beef broth and seasoning and turn it on. It's so simple, my children love to walk in the door from school and smell the food cooking, sometimes my husbands says he can smell it outside the house before walking in. Another feature I love about this Rival crockpot is that it has 3 setting to choose from. High, for meals that you can cook faster in about 4-5...
...
