I absolutly love this thing. It made it on my list of things I can not live without. I use it with everything. I freeze my meat with it. I shop at Costco and spilt up all the bulk items and tuck them away in these babies and they stay fresh. No other bag can even be compared to this. It is so easy too, that my two year can do it. He loves to "suck" the air out. I got tired of my meat looking like a huge chunck of ice. I have not had that problem since I found this sucker! Excuse the pun....

I love the product but we can't buy the bags up here in Michigan anymore. I bought 11 of them and passed them out for Christmas presents. I am out of bags and so are my friends and relation. I went over to WalMart and they told me they don't carry the product anymore. I called Target and they said they don't have them either. What is going on. This is a great product. My friend showed me hers and I fell in love with it. So easy to use. Great for the freezer. Please get them back on the market. We need our bags. My dad can't find the bags in Ohio either.
...

For long storage of items and freezer goods, I trust my Food Saver System; but for those items I regularly get in and out of, like deli goods, I don't like having to create a whole new Food Saver Bag when they cost as much as they do. Well, Reynold's resolved this issue with the Reynold's Handy Vac System!

The Reynold's Handy Vac System is a lightweight, hand-held device that sucks the air out of their specially designed RESEALABLE, sacks. The outer clear plastic nosil is removable for cleaning purposes and battery operated (6-AAs). The bags come in sandwich and quart sack and can be used in the refrigerator and freezer. The bags can be hand-washed and reused (about 2-3 times at most, then replace them). It comes with 3 bags, then replacement bags can be purchased separately.

Finally! The Reynold's Handy Vac is just what I needed to save the cost of the Food Saver Bags. What a handy and fabulous in-between product! For a fraction of the cost, I can re-open these bags...
...

The Reynolds Vacumn Sealer is one of the handiest little kitchen gadgets ever invented. It really works and helps keep food fresher for a long time. The bags come in at least 2 sizes, gallon and quart, and are resonably priced in comparison to other bags of the same size. They are also resealable so that you can use them over and over again depending on what you are using them for. You could buy the sealer and a whole lot of bags before you even come close to the price of those high price sealers. We bought ours on sale and have since bought another one - not because we had a problem with our first purchase but because my hubby wanted one for his shop in addition to the one in our kitchen. We use ours almost daily and the batteries last a really long time. It did take me just a little practice to hold the sealer just right so it would pull a vacumn. Everyone that sees us use it wants to know where we got it so they can get one for themselves and we gladly give them the...
...

I bought this thing last week and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I couldn't believe how well it worked. I had a few things to divy up and freeze, so I called my husband into the kitchen to see how well it worked. 2 bags later no suction! what a piece of crap! I'm totally bummed, and not sure if I will buy another one and see if the first was just a fluke or say heck with the thing....

REYNOLDS HANDI-VAC VACUUM SEALER

I received the starter kit, along with 2 packages of bags, for a gift.
The starter kit includes the vacuum sealer, (with batteries included!), and 3 quart size Handi-Vac freezer bags.

To use this handy little gadget, you place the food you want to freeze into the Handi-Vac bag, making sure you keep the food below the fill line on the bag, then close the zipper. You then lay the bag flat on the counter, then press the sealer flat against the air valve on the bag, push the button, and in seconds, the air is removed from the bag. It's actually pretty cool! You can now put the food in the freezer and know it will be protected from freezer burn.

The only downside is that the Handi-Vac bags are kind of expensive, but I use this tip I got from my mom; she puts the food in a regular, cheap, zipper plastic bag first, then puts it into the Handi-Vac bag; that way the Handi-Vac bag stays clean and you can reuse it.

I recommend this if you freeze a lot of small portions......

We use this tool for all of our processing. To date we have vac sealed over 200 packs of meat. Plus we use it almost on a daily basis with sandwich meat. We buy in bulk and freeze items. You cannot beat the size and ease of use. I would highly reccomend it to anyone....

I've had mine for almost 2 months. First, it's not designed very well. On a small counter you can't stand it up and it will take up space. To get at the batteries is difficult with a tiny and oddly placed screw. The batteries don't last very long and are difficult to replace. It would be nice if this were rechargeable or able to plug and use.

On to how it works. The seals on bags don't last so it's not for long term storage. Finally, after the short time I've owned it, it's died. NOt even 2 months. Then I find the warranty is only for 30 days. Excuse me but I'd rather spend more money on something that will last than constantly replace something. You'll find in the long run it costs less.

All they want you doing is coming back and replacing it. My friend has had his food sealer for 4 years and still working great at $129. Replacing the handi vac every 2 months at $12-13 at walmart over 4 years and be certain the price will increase? You do the math....

I have one of those older counter style vacuum sealers so I was interested to see how this compairs.
Let me tell you...IT WORKS GREAT.
It sucks all the air out of the bags and leaves your food protected. I have used it for meats in the freezer...no freezer burn, veggies in the fridge....stay fresh longer.
It is comparable to my counter top one (which is now in the cabinet :)
And its easy to store because its so small.
The bags are a decent value too, though I'd stock up while theyre on sale :)

The only thing I wish they'd improve is making it rechargable!

...

The Handi-Vac is perfect for my small kitchen and powerful enough to seal bags well for freezing. It runs on AA batteries, but the batteries last a long time, I've had this for about 5 months and have not had to replace the batteries yet. I love that it fits right in the drawer with my silverware and measuring spoons and that there's no need to drag out a large sealer, cut the bags to size, etc.

I've found this works best when freezing items for less than 6 weeks though, the bags do seems to lose their seal after that amount of time.
...

Recently one of my good friends got this new gadget. The Reynold's Handi-vac. When I first saw it I thought, "whoa.. what is that?" He explained what it was. I didn't think it was very practical.
However, I decided to do some research after he demonstrated it to us. It seemed really great. I did the research. It is only $9.99 for the handi-vac and the bags are about the same price for regular ziploc bags!
I still held off and researched some other options. I looked at the Foodsaver and other food vacuuming systems. They're generally at least $100. They seem to take up a lot of space (which we don't have much of) and the bags are quite costly. Also, people complained of the heat seal coming undone eventually.
I also found that some people would rewash their bags. So if I'm just throwing veggies in the bag, I'll rewash it and use it for veggies again.
We broke down and bought one. Although, me being as frugal as I am found one on Ebay. We ended up paying .99cents and $6.50 in shipping. So I......

Reynolds handi-vac is the best thing i've found yet. It works very well, and the bags are fairly resonable in price. I would recomend to all my friends. The only bad thing ive noticed is that sometimes the vacume takes a minute to go. and also that it really does take alot of batteries. It worth it to me because my meat really does stay fresher longer, and it's very simple to do. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.
...
