It's a celebration of all those things in life we often take for granted, the things that really matter: family, friends, all those with whom we have relationships, those we don't know so well, community. It's a reminder to go for your dreams NOW...before it's too late. As importantly, the book is a reminder to tell those you love that you DO love them in both words and actions. I liked his take on finding someone you want to spend the rest of your life with: Someone who's happiness is more important than your own. This book made such an impression on my that I bought copies to give to family and friends. It's one of those books that you want to keep, to know it's there when you want to re-read the whole thing or just a passage or two or three. In short, this book has made me view the world and my own life in a different and much more positive light.</p>... Easier for a young person.  Randy Pausch is dying of cancer. But this book isn't about cancer or dying - it's about living and making the most of every minute of your life. Mon, 15 Sep 2008 16:12:23 GMT http://www.viewpoints.com/Randy-Pausch-and-Jeffrey-Zaslow-The-Last-Lecture-review-ae3e4 holls33 5 http://www.viewpoints.com/Randy-Pausch-and-Jeffrey-Zaslow-The-Last-Lecture-review-5fba3 <p>Reading the Last Lecture by Randy Pausch was difficult because there were so many times when tears would just well up in my eyes and I couldn't see the words on the pages.  The book is easy to read.  It's a hardback (5 1/2" X 7 1/2") with 206 pages and the print is larger than usual.  The book is divided into six sections with 61 chapters.  Don't let the chapter count fool you.  Every time the author has a new thought he has a new chapter:+}  Some chapters might be half a page and others may actually be three or four at the max.  While on the subject of chapters: I loved the titles.  Just when I thought I was at a stopping point I would see another "interesting" chapter title ("The Elephant In the Room, Pouring Soda In the Backseat or Romancing the Brickwall").  Because there are so many chapters this is a book that you can pick up and put down in between tasks.  I would read a chapter while waiting for the microwave to go off or while waiting for the rinse cycle to finish. ...</p>... He led a great life and left a wonderful example for his children. I'm sure their mother will never let them forget him. I was struck deeply by the love he displayed for his wonderful wife, and the strength with which he lived his life.
