We were asked by my girlfriend to let this salesman come to our house to demo the Rainbow as they bought one and got a bonus for referring their friends. So, I agreed, while thinking "I'm such a sucker". She described the vacuum she bought and I thought, ok - but it's a $2000 vacuum cleaner!!! My husband would flip if I told him I wanted to buy a vacuum cleaner that cost $2000. So, I made sure he was there for the demo too. When the salesman came in, he was very nice, not a typical "sales" person. I'm not big on people who have a pushy sales technique. He performed his demonstration and almost instantly, my husband and I were giving each other glances like "we going to buy this!" The Rainbow bagless vacuum cleaner was fabulous! I was amazed by what came out of our carpet! And the cat litter & cat fur alone made me want to run out and buy new carpet!

Now, no more dusty, dirty bags. And the sweeper brush for the hard surface floors and carpet stains is a wonderful bonus!...
...

I have had my Rainbow (E series) for several years now. I LOVE IT!!! It will suck up ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!!! I have used it for everything from our carpets and hardwood floors, to the unfinished concrete floors in the basement and even our GARAGE!!! After our house was built, we found that the contractor's crew left quite a mess in our basement. (sunflower seeds, tons of sawdust, loose fibers from the insulation, etc) The rainbow cleaned ALL of it!!! I had an INCH OF DIRT in the bottom of the basin by the time I was done with the first 20x20 area down there!!! NO vacuum out there would be able to match that!

I even use it to dust! Pick up the dust particles first, and THEN go over the surface with Pledge or whatever brand you prefer for shine. My kids complained about having to empty the water basin after each use, but once they relized ANY vacuum needs to be emptied, they were sold.

I have even accidentally picked up stray socks while clenaing...
...

We recently purchased a Rainbow cleaning system. We had a Kirby before the Rainbow. I was very impressed by the fact it uses water to capture all the dust. I have used it to clean my car, home and the two homes that I clean on a regular basis. It has been very nice not to have to spend my hard earned money on bags. I like how it cleans the air. My daughter has allergies, and she seems to be able to breath better now than when we had other vacuums. I love putting the oil-based home fragrances in it, makes my house smell so sweet. My favorite scent is sun-dried linen.

It picks up cat litter and dog hair like a dream. It does an excellent job of picking up Cheerios and other snacks that my 2 year-old son leaves all over the place.

I don't mind emptying the basin of dirty water, at least when I do dump it, dust does not fly up into my face!!! And it is really funny to hear my son say ewwwwwww everytime I empty it.
...

I have the e-series Rainbow. Let me tell you, it was a heck of an argument to get me to agree to pay $2000 for a vacuum. Ultimately, it was the baby on the way and allergies that were won over by the air filtration feature. At the time of purchase (which by the way was over $3000 with financing), the Rainbow dealer made a "deal" with my husband that if he showed it a certain # of times and then sold 1 then they pay for the vacuum (rolling eyes) Right! They had him show it over and over for weeks at the very few peoples houses that the sales exhausted area hadn't seen it. Then before his very last showing they said he wasn't doing the presentation properly and that he needed another salesman to go with him. They never would do it and then promptly left town. So, I have a $3000 vacuum! Great!

It works well on water, but is a struggle to get connected properly and difficult to pull around. Now I have moved and I have ONE RUG to use a vacuum on.( It definitely doesn't work on the bare surfaces!)...
...

Rainbow vacuum cleaner E2 - purchased late 2008

This system takes so much time and effort to set-up and then to clean once you are finished that you do not want to vacuum your house unless you are going to do the whole house. You have to fill with water, add sanitizer, and also a fragrance. After complete you have to empty the water container (very gross) and clean all dirt out and then remove a bolt and take the fan blade piece off and scrub with a tiny brush. Then leave everything out until it dries. It also says you can't store the unit with the water container in it. I also noticed that dirt was getting into the motor after a only couple of uses, another thing to clean... I think I only people that recommend these units are the people selling them, pocketing mass amounts of cash. (see ebay if you really want one). Also their return policy gives you only 3 days... Their sales people must be the best in the business! They convinced my wife that she had to have one even though we didn't...
...

Our rainbow vacuum is so worth it's price. It may cost over $1,000 but it pays for itself. It filters the air and keeps the dust in it's water, so it actually leaves the house unlike nonwater vacuums....

The Rainbow vacuum is the best I have ever owned to help control allergy triggers- I have 6 cats, 2 dogs, fish and family! always running around my house. It works great at picking up hair and dust- easily gets it off my textured ceiling also. I love that it does not put any dust back into the air. I have owned other vacuums- which I felt all they did was move the dirt and dust around....

We purchased our Rainbow about 2 years ago--and traded our Oreck for it. The Rainbow truly provides incredible cleaning, but there are times I miss the convenience of our upright. I think back to how much money we spent on the Rainbow and I am almost embarrased. The Rainbow is a great cleaning tool, and I do appreciate the versatility of the attachments, I just hate having to "set it up" to vacuum and having to dump the nasty water!
...

My Parents where always Kirby people, we had about 4 different modles when I was growing up. great at cleaning? Yes. Heavy? I think I was in my 20's when I weighed as much as that vacuum.

When they got the Rainbow a few years back my sister and I tried it out, WOW!!!!!!!!!! She got hers first. Since then I have bought 6 vacuums that are horrable! I was worried about making the investment on a canaster vac. I have a 5 story home so therfore ALOT of stairs. WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!!! The hose is way long enough, the stair attachment is amazing. I have 2 cats and a dog. No more hair. The water is a little on the gross side to empty, but then when you think about it, that "gross mud" was in my carpet. Anyway, one of the best investments and and it is the best vacuum.
...

Although more money than we should have spent on a vacuum, it has lasted as long as 3 new vacuums for our friends and always does a good job. I really like the fact that there isn't any dust put in the air when sweeping.

Although adding to the bulk of the unit, it is nice to have all the tools handy on the unit. Because of its bulk, it takes more storage space than an upright, but it does more than any upright also.

I don't have any problem with carrying it from floor to floor, but would not recommend it to someone with mutiple levels and not able to (or wanting to) carry something and navigate stairs.
...

I have used Rainbow vacuum cleaners for over 20 years in 3 different homes. I never had to worry about flea infestation. Picking up dog hairs was a breeze and i was not constantly replacing filters. I have reccommended this brand of vacuum to all my friends. Expensive? yes but they appear to last much longer and they are worth it. Take more time to clean up? Yes but no odors to seep thru filters nor bugs!...
