As a long time Princess cruiser, I have to say I love this ship. It was a little big at times, but it had plenty of cozy corners to get away. We always found something fun to do (or good to eat!) and found ourselves back on the ship again recently. We've never had a bad eperience with Princess. We just love them!
...

Grand Princess - 12 Day Mediterranean Cruise departing Civitavecchia on 9/11/08: This was our 40th wedding annv. cruise and 2nd on the Princess line. Can't understand how this ship gets in general great ratings. This was a terrible ship, laundermats out of service for 12 days, foul tasting water, out of sanitary wipes half way through cruise, internet out of order for 3 days, electrical outages with people trapped on elevators, toilets on the whole ship were not working for 6 hours, blah food in dinning rooms, brown water coming out of bathroom sink, uninformed purser and tour desk people, with all this I still see reviews like, "great trip wonderful ship, really.............
...

Princess overall is a great line to cruise with. The Grand Princess is a nice ship. Overall had a nice experience however year after year, on cruise after cruise Princess never changes the menu. It's so predictable. The ship has a lot of great ammenities however Royal Caribbean is just way more fun!
...

My husband and I, we went on this particular cruise last year. All I can they, we've enjoyed it a lot. Plenty of different activities, good, satisfying food, we've made new friends... That's not bad for just a two-week vacation time. Sightseeing tours were especially good: very informative and professionally conducted. I woud recommend anybody these particular cruises. Check for youselves!!!...

Grand Princess is a beautiful ship however it is not meant for families. If you're looking for a great cruise experience and you're retired, go on this ship. It's more seen as an older cruise line just like Holland America is. Although it has a game room for the kids, it really is not a great cruise for many activities. Many of the shows were not that interesting and not really entertaining. I slept through some of them and got up through some of them. However, on a plus side, the ports of call are really exotic and very beautiful. The size of the cabins including the bathroom is not that big, but then again most of them aren't. I guess the price value is ok.The food was just ordinary, not really fine dining. Although, I never tried the private upscale restaurant, so I don't know how that experience was. Overall, out of 5 stars I give Grand Princess somewhere between the range of 2.9-3.2.

...

Princess terminal was vacant! We walked in, showed passports to the military at the entrance, proceeded to DOLPHIN which had regular & express. We are express so we just walked up she tears out the tix & credit card sigs, gave us our ship cards & up the ramp we went (3 mins max, including ship ID photo). Then into the elevator to Dolphin. D425 was our home this week.

Then we see Head Waiter, older with half glasses resembling a DOM, seating Marty Allen & wife Kate way in the back in a corner. Jerry has Stuffed Flounder, salad, shrimp cocktail for his order. Me, I want all 3 appetizers (shrimp cocktail which is a caribbean fruit/white pepper sauce, egg rolls with a fruity soy sauce & grapefruit/kiwi laced in Blue Caracoa (sp) & our waiter Adi from Romania served them onne at a time warm to cold. Then cappuccino & tiramasu and sampling it brought back memories of Dawn Princess' chef Josef from Austria. Head Waiter Carlos asks if we would like a Pina Colada Soup. It isn't soup but the...
...

Enjoyed cruising on Princess. One of the highlights of the ship was "Movies Under the Stars." Such fun! Food was excellent and plenty of it. Enjoyed being able to eat when we wanted to and not some pre-set schedule. Nice fitness area. We cruised the Western Carribean. Wasn't that crazy about the ports of call, but that's just personal preference. Thought the price of the shore trips through Princess was a little pricey. We went through shoretrips.com instead. Worked out fine for us. Enjoyed visiting the Mayan ruins, but hubby & I aren't big beach people, so Cancun and the Princess private island held little interest for us. Had a balcony stateroom (won't cruise without a balcony) and loved every minute of it - slept with balcony door open most nights. Heavenly! Square footage of the room was a little smaller than some other cruise lines, but we were fine with it. We don't drink or gamble, but found plenty else to do on the ship. All staff we encountered were friendly and polite and our......

Several years ago I had an unpleasant experience on Princess when one of the staff was rude when I questioned why nothing was done to recognize our 25th anniversary on the cruise. It was a long 16 day cruise, and I was really irritated that lots of travelers received free bottles of wine, etc., for no special occasion. My husband and I were ignored and then treated rudely when I questioned it, especially since Princess throws away lots of bottles of champagne on a trademark champagne waterfall.
Consequently, my husband and I didn't take a Princess cruise for several years until I found an interesting one leaving Galveston, a convenient port, at a fantastic price. That prompted me to try Princess once more. We had such a great time that we signed up to take the same cruise again 3 months later at a much higher price because Princess decided to leave Galveston as a departure port. And because it was such fun, we're taking another Princess cruise this fall. The cruise staff was......
