I'm in my second year of attending Piedmont on my way to a guaranteed transfer to UVa. I've found good things and bad things at Piedmont since I've been there, but overall, I've enjoyed my experience.

I've enjoyed the small class sizes and the helpfulness of the teachers. Because of the small class sizes, as I've gone through my semesters, I've always felt like my teachers were there, not only to teach me, but to help me understand the information that I've been presented. I've not taken a class there yet that my teachers were unwilling to work with me to make sure that I was succeeding.

Because Piedmont doesn't cost as much as UVa, I can spend two years a Piedmont for less than what it costs for one year at UVa. As a working student, I appreciate the opportunity to get my Associate's degree at a lower cost.

Piedmont only has two buildings (they are in the proccess of building a third). This makes it really easy to find your classes at the beginning of each semester. It also......

wright1mj says "Why spend more for a great education?" about Piedmont Virginia Community College - Virginia

I live near Charlottesville, VA, and have been seeing my Mother through a series of health challenges. I've been impressed by the student nurses at the two local hospitals -- and at the Senior Living Center where she lives. They are getting a great education at Piedmont Community College -- which has a reciprocal relationship with nearby University of Virginia. At a fraction of the cost, a young person can get an RN degree at Piedmont in three years, get clinical experience at two quality local hospitals or a number of high-end geriatric centers, and then go on for a higher degree at a prestigious state university with full credit for classes taken at Piedmont. What a deal! I had the pleasure of talking to one of the student nurses, who is a bright high school graduate with the kind of grades that could get her into any 4-year college she wanted. But she chose this community college to get her basic degree at cost -- knowing that she would be accepted at the University of Virginia for a......
