Finding a good facial cleanser has always been a chore for me. Because I suffer from dry/combination skin, most facial cleansers seem to leave my skin feeling tight and even more dry than before I washed. Plus, my skin can be very sensitive to certain products, so I have to be careful about what I choose to use on my face. That's why I was so excited to try Philosophy Purity Made Simple One Step Facial Cleanser.

I'm a huge fan of Philosophy products and despite the fact that they can be very pricey, their quality is usually worth the added cost. I had high hopes for this cleanser and let me tell you, I was not disappointed!

This gentle cleanser works exceptionally well to remove makeup, dirt and oil. It even got rid of my stubborn eye makeup; I normally have to use a separate product for that! It doesn't really lather, which I found odd, but that doesn't diminish the fact that it rinses off cleanly without leaving a greasy film behind. I know a lot of you girls have heard of it and may not believe the hype. I'm hear to tell you that this one product has changed the way my face feels. I'm 30 years old and I don't have a lot of time to use multiple products. This ONE product was able to clean face without it feeling stripped. It feels so gentle yet has the strength to get even the toughest mascara off. I leave it in my shower and use it to shave with.

I know a lot of people love Philosophy Purity made simple. I am not one of them unfortunately this cleaner does not work well with my skin. I broke out in little white bumps, developed dry patches, my face was irritated and turned very red while using it the redness lasted for several hours. I does remove all of my makeup very easily but it does not foam up at all. I like cleansers that foam up and really make my face clean. Purity made simple has a slimy texture that rinses off okay but I just do not feel like my skin is clean after I use it. I do not think that this product is made for sensitive skin, I find it very irritating it also has a lot of irritating ingredients in it. I am surprised that they say this is for all skin types. Like many other philosophy products this also has that awful medicinal smell. I have also tried the newer foaming purity face cleanser and I had the same problems with that one. I am not a fan.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One Step Facial Cleanser

Let me start off by saying I do like a lot of Philosophy's products, just not this one. I have combination skin that takes well to a lot of different products usually with no problem, I purchased a Philosophy skin care starter kit at Sephora and of course this cleanser was the focalpoint of the kit.

Upon first use I noticed how odd the scent was but figured, hey it's new maybe the scent's a bit concentrated at the beginning, I was wrong, the plastic-like smell never softened and actually seems to get worse with use, it was awful.

The cream gel-like off white lotion is creamy but not greasy, I used as directed, rinsed it off very well and still felt like I had a film of it on my face. I wanted to give my skin a chance to adjust to this cleanser but it never really did, after about 3 weeks of use my skin had a dull roughness to it and was becoming itchy. I stopped using it and asked my sister if she'd like to have it, so far she likes...

I love Philosophy bath and skin products and have for a long time, but just recently decided to try their facial care line of products. My skin tends to be very sensitive and dries out very easily, so I'm picky about my cleansers and moisturizers. Philosophy Purity Made Simple is a great cleanser. It smells great, in my opinion, and rinses off easily. I don't feel it leaving a weird film like some cleansers do, but still leaves me with soft skin. It even removes my waterproof eye makeup and doesn't irritate my eyes in the process. I also like how the Philosophy Purity Made Simple comes in a handy bottle with a simple flip-top lid. Nothing to screw on, no cap to lose when it falls under the sink! I also love that Philosophy prints cool quotes and tidbits of information on their bottles. I've read it a hundred times, but it still makes me smile every time I wash my face. I even recommended Philosophy Purity to my mom!

The Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser is the absolutely the BEST cleanser in the market! I have tried them all!!!! This cleanser beats them out by a mile. I suffer with dry flaky, sensitive skin. This cleanser moisturizes my face, without irritating it, like so many cleansers do. And it really cleans. Typically, with other cleansers, I always needed a makeup remover and a toner to make my skin feel clean. But then it always felt stripped. With Purity, I never need a separate makeup remover or toner. This is one step cleaning. It takes off all of my makeup, even my stubborn waterproof makeup, and makes my skin feel incredibly clean, smooth, and moisturized. It is a miracle in a bottle. And even on the rare occassions that I may get a small break out, it is gone the next day after cleansing with Philosophy's Purity. It makes your skin feel like silk. Philosophy's Purity Made Simple is a no frills cleanser that really gets the job done without a lot of scrubbing. It's a fairly watery-feeling cleanser that suds up pretty well, goes on your face very smooth, and rinses off just as easily. It evened out my skin tone, seemed to help with dry skin, and kept my breakouts at bay, too.

I know this cleanser is supposed to be fragrance-free, but this stuff definitely has a scent. I personally like the way it smells, and since it's not an overpowering scent, it really doesn't bother me at all.

Overall, my complaint about this stuff is the price. You do get a pretty big bottle for twenty dollars, but this isn't the kind of thing that 'a little goes a long way' - as I mentioned earlier, part of what makes it so gentle is the fact that it's so watery. If you try to use just a little bit, it's hard to work up a lather - which means I tore through the whole bottle much faster than I have with other cleansers.

I love the way it removes makeup---even eye makeup! I can use it around my eyes without it stinging in any way. It easily disolves eye makeup completely and it is gentle on my skin.

I have large pores, occasional acne, sensitive skin and I'm 49 so I'm not a spring chicken! I also have oily skin, but during the winter my skin is dry! tried this cleanser in a trial size first, and loved it. It removes all my make-up quickly, doesn't over dry my skin. I later purchased the large size (I think it's 16 oz) and it has lasted for 4 months at least. While the initial investment seems expensive, it really goes a long way. If you will wet your face first, then use a small amount, rub it all over to remove your make-up (yes, it even removes the mascara) then use a wet wash cloth to remove the cleanser, you will be amazed at how well it works.

I have to admit, I love Philosophy. I have another confession, I hate the pricetag on most of their products. This Facial cleanser is an exception. I don't mind paying the price on this product. I have combination skin and I live in Michigan when in the winter I have dry patches mixed with redness. This product does not irritate my irritation and it doesn't dry out the normal skin surrounding it. The scent is light and slightly refreshing with maybe a hint of eucalyptus or tea tree oil smell. I allow my 11 year old daughter to use this as a facial cleanser and it doesn't harm her sensitive skin either. Two thumbs up!

This is an okay cleanser, but not worth my money. Love the texture, but I still have leftover make-up and dirt that I can see when I use a toner afterwards. Not worth the money for me that is. It is a large bottle though so it lasts a long time. :)...

I love philosophy purity. I have been using it for about seven years. I have very sensitive skin especially around my eyes. Sometimes even getting water in them makes them sting. I say this on qvc and bought it hoping that I could use it to take off my makeup and hopefully it wouldn't hurt my skin too much. I can use this to remove eye makeup and it doesn't sting at all , it even takes off waterproof mascara which not even a lot of removes meant for the eye area can do. I put it on a q-tip and use it to remove makeup around and on eyes that way it doesn't drip and get into my eyes. It doesn't smell like medicine or perfume and it doesn't strip my skin. I also like that it doesn't break out my skin either and the pop top bottle makes it wonderful for travel. I can't live without this stuff...

I started using Philosophy after running out of my 3-Step from Clinque. I love it. It leaves my skin soft and clean. I still use a toner or astringent after and the cotton ball is always clean. That is a huge thing no matter what. I have always used a 3 step cleansing process since I was 12 and it shows. I have been very lucky to have had pretty skin and it is due to the products I use. I started using this cleanser just after having my son and my skin was in amazing shape but not as oily as before I got pregnant so it was a savior. My other products were just drying my skin out. I recomend it to every one!!!...
