The Phillips DVD Home Theater system HTS6500 is a wonderful surround sound system I'm very happy with it .

First ,I would like to say that I am not really fond of these things, the other units we had looked ugly with all the speakers everywhere and cords running here and there .I also thought that it made music and background sounds loud while the spoken words were lower and It was always hard to hear the actors while the music blasted you out of the room .

However our new Vizio HDTV that we love seems to have poor sound on some channels so my husband talked me into Yet another surround sound system and I'm very pleased with it .

I love the fact it only has 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer that does a wonderful job with way less unsightly clutter.

The unit also give you so much better sound and the voices are as clear as the background music, this is great because I like being able to hear the actors speaking as well as music that does not blow me out of the room .

For those who are nearing retirement it is great to have in the house.. comfy chair .. good DVD's and great sound.. its also great to watch with the family and if you want to you can have the cable compnay get a high defintion box, although i think this sytem is fine with or without the extra HD Box..although we have it.. you have have your TV anyplace as well as pick the best spot for your sound system.. like up in behind and theyhave several mounting choices so as long as you are in the middle the sound is great .. it comes out of all the speakers and bass... just like in the theater. i think when we rent the movies or get them off cable.. we proablly save money as the movie tickets are about 10 each the rentals are 4 give or take as is pay per view.. you can also watchyou own movies if you have a video camera and some are muti VHS, DVD. VCD or CD's your choice there is alot you can enjoy anad the prices are going way down to when theyfirst started.. you can add components to some......

We bought this system on impluse as we'd been having problems with our old surround system having too many parts/pieces. This one unit is a dream.

Terrific sound with easy controls make this system the best when paired with the TV, multi-CD player, and the cable box.

The only complaint I have is that the buttons on the remote are too small and aren't laid out well. Also, with the complex operation of the different functions, finding a universal remote is impossible. And I couldn't get the box to work with our TV remote for a one remote system.

Yes, the remote situation is a bit awkward, but the performance of this system outweighs the inconviences of the remote. I'd buy this system again.
