lovegod1222 says "beautiful city, high price tag" about Paris, France

i have traveled over 29 countries now and still find PARIS my favorite city of all. it is very pretty, elegant, and full of surprises. however, with those added benefits, it comes with high price tag.

there are many places you can visit and my personal favorite is the Louvre Museum or Great Louvre, or simply the Louvre - is the largest national museum of France, the most visited museum in the world, and a historic monument.

among all the art displays in this gigantic museum I enjoyed the painting "The Mona Lisa" by the famous artist Leonardo da Vinci and probably is the most viewed and discussed painting in the world. if you are an art lover like me, you will NOT leave the Louvre Museum for at least 3 days and still think you do not havge enough time to finish ALL the art displays. moreover, the movie Da Vinci Code really spark MORE people be interested in this beautiful museum.

compare with all the high priced food, their wine (regardless red or white) are cheap and smooth. most...
...

Paris is a must see for any travelor to Europe. It is important to learn as much of the language as possible as the people and tradesmen, prefer that you at least try to speak their language even though they may understand yours.

The food is wonderful, and so many sights to see from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower, to the Arch de Triumph, so much history.

It's always fun to see the artists painting and you may even find a special treasure to enjoy.

Make sure that you also go to Marseilles for the Palace is another experience.
...

abendroth says "World's most romantic city." about Paris, France

There's no city on earth like Paris. It has grand boulevards, a scenic river, buildings and bridges guilded with gleaming gold, monuments and public sculptures everywhere, and dozens of incomparable museums. Despite what one hears, the people are generally friendly and helpful. Sometimes they can be brusque or impatient, as one also finds in other large cities like New York. English is beginning to be spoken widely, and Parisians have become more tolerant of the imperfect French of tourists. The finest of old-world opulence is available to luxury travelers, but Paris is also excellent for budget travelers. Various suburban neighborhoods offer safe, comfortable two-star hotels in quaint neighborhoods containing excellent local restaurants. Public transportation is excellent, making a car superfluous. Subways (the "Metro") honeycomb the central city and are easy to navigate. Above all, the food in Paris is most memorable, whether in luxury restaurants or in neighborhood cafés. And even in...
...

If you don't like Paris, there's something wrong with you. The city is beyond beautiful, great for walking, eating, people watching, museums and shopping. It's changed dramatically since I started going there in 1980, but it's still Paris with all its splendor. Wear comfortable shoes, but not American sneakers, and walk, walk, walk. You may feel like a frump, but you will even in uncomfortable shoes because Parisians carry themselves with confidence and know what to do with a scarf.

My favorite location is the 6th arrondisement, where we generally stay in a small, 3-star hotel to savor the flavor of France. I particularly like the Odeon area and that Metro stop is convenient. Bring a good, detailed map and Metro map as you'll enjoy having that when trying to find your way around. Pick up a crepe and keep walking, then stop for an Orangina or black coffee to get the feel of the city. Don't miss the fabulous museums and the parks. Plan a day that makes sense by maybe...
...

Doesn't everyone dream of visiting Paris? There is just something about this amazing city. It's so hard to describe but being there just took my breath away. I've never imagined myself living anywhere but the U.S., but after visiting Paris, I honestly could see myself living there. It is just such an amazing city. And while I've heard that the French are rude, that really wasn't my experience. I felt that everyone was accomodating and polite - but maybe that's because I work in Boston, a city also known for being on the rude side.
...

RutgersFan says "Magical, unforgettable city" about Paris, France

Paris is an absolute must-visit -- just walking along the streets and looking at the gorgeous buildings and cozy cafes is a treat. But the landmarks are unforgettable -- the masterpieces of the Louvre, the bateaux-mouches tour boats on the Seine, the magnificent Notre Dame, the graceful Eiffel Tower, the elegant Champs d'Elysees and Arc de Triomphe, the dramatic Sacre Couer basilica. There's something to thrill everyone in Paris.

I have visited several times, and my favorite way to experience the City of Light is to rent an apartment on the Left Bank. There are plenty of reliable rental agencies, easy to find online. The cost is so much less than hotels, and having access to a kitchen (and hopefully a terrace) is a real treat. There are so many lovely shops nearby -- buy fresh baguettes, pastries, jams, cheeses, wine, pate, etc. and enjoy them at leisure in your apartment. Live like a local, it's the best way to go!

Use the subways; they're easy to navigate and will bring you just about...
...

I was fortunate to be offered a long weekend trip to Paris. I was able to see a bit of many things, such as two hour trip to the Louvre, a walking tour of the old city, etc. Yet there was simply not enough time to relax and absorb the sights, sounds and tastes that make up Paris. Somehow I'll find a way to go back...again and again!

I did find the city easy to explore, and the Metro easy to use. It is well worth the trip!
...

Besides the initial pleasure of siting the Eiffel Tower, the food is consistently splendid, even in the most lowly bistro. The flowers sold in stalls, the bakeries on every other block, the cheese stores, and the less insane pressure in daily life should make anyone fall madly in love - with Paris....

If you are traveling to France, the must do is to get a train pass. It just makes everything much easier, it is not a good idea to rent a car. There are very confusing and narrow streets. You will enjoy your time in Pairs so much more if you do not have to worry about a car. A thing to think about is that the plugs in France is so much different than in the United States, so if you bring a recharageable camara, once the battery runs out. You are out of luck. But finding batteries is easy. Since I knew that I was going to spend the majority of my time out, I did not want to spend a lot of money on the room, so I stayed at a very nice bed and breakfast....

At this point, after traveling via rail, backpack, shuttle and bus through a fair amount of Europe, after all of the incredible sights and cultures that Europe has to offer, I still love Paris best of all. Around every corner holds an amazing bit of history, a wonderful bistro, a world class museum, or just the experience of a life time.

Traveling through Paris and all of the adjoining areas is a snap because of their incredibily comprehensive subway system called "Metro". You can go anywhere on it in the Metro area and even Versailles, or EuroDisney, (although I would recomend skipping that). Day, week, or even point to point passes are available for a very resonable price. The very best part of traveling on the Metro is the prepondurance of exceptional musicians echoing through the tiled passageways of your journey from one train to another. Stringed orchestras, classical pianists, jazz musicians, with every one I encountered with a great degree of talent. It was amazing. ...
...

Although you hear many bad things about Paris, the truth is, the majority of Parisians do not hate Americans! It's as simple as speaking their language- which is beautiful in itself. It is easy to getaround, it may take a day or two to get used to the Metro system, but no big deal if you have ever taken public transport before. It is a wonderful city to explore. Seeing the sights is, of course, a must, but just wandering the streets of Paris is enjoyable as well.

If you are going to go up the Eiffel Tower, go a little cheaper and at least walk up to the first floor. The views are amazing, and it's good exercise! :)
...
